00:00Filipino weightlifter Haidlin Diaz Naranjo finished fourth in the women's 58-kilogram division of the weightlifting event at the 33rd Southeast Asian Games in Shamburi, Thailand.
00:12The Tokyo Olympics gold medalist posted a 200-kilogram total lift after registering 90 kilograms in the snatch and 110 kilograms in the clean and jerk.
00:23Despite the effort, Diaz failed to reach the podium in her SEA Games return after winning gold in the 55-kilogram category at the 2022 Hanoi edition.
00:33Host Nation Thailand's Yod Sarin Suratwadi claimed the gold medal with a 224-kilogram total lift, while Indonesian lifter Natasha Beteo took silver with 218 kilograms.
00:47Diaz apologized for falling short of a medal, admitting she was not in her best physical and mental condition.
00:54The two-time SEA Games gold medalist also revealed she has been dealing with a right knee injury, which limited her participation in international competitions for nearly two years.
01:06Despite the setback, Diaz vowed to come back stronger as she prepares for upcoming tournaments, including the Olympic qualifiers for the 2028 Los Angeles Games.
01:17Meanwhile, weightlifting action continues on Monday with 2025 World Championship bronze medalist Elrin Ando set to compete in the women's 63-kilogram category.
01:28First, I want to say sorry, but I did my best, and this is my best for now, because I have injury, and I'm still hard to drop it, because I lost it, but it's not an excuse.
01:46But at the end of the day, I'm not ready to go. I'm prepared, and I'm happy to represent our country.
01:53I'm ready to go. I'm ready to go. I'm ready to go. I'm ready to go. I'm ready to go. I'm ready to go. I'm ready to go. I'm ready to go. I'm ready to go. I'm ready to go. I'm ready to go.
