00:00you um basically i just wanted to come and say um that i apologize i said i didn't love you
00:09that wasn't true we always had a really good relationship as far as like being able to talk

00:50extend an olive branch i just don't trust that i just don't trust him yeah i've got two more wives
00:58to visit with i i get a little bit nervous thinking that that it could go really really wrong
01:20i just visited with janelle in north carolina and i've been back for a little bit i'm having a
01:40workout today i got to keep myself young i have a wife 10 years younger than me almost 11 years younger
01:49than me i don't want to be the old man in the family
01:59i'm really trying to focus on aging gracefully strength training simply for the purpose of just
02:07staying well and healthy knock knock hi hon hi it's raining finally
02:20ah check this out what okay here pick this up tell me if it's heavy oh my gosh seriously cody
02:29i just did four pull-ups with that on my back you didn't oh my gosh i couldn't do it again sorry
02:34i can't impress you with that but yeah i'm a little winded boy it's been a workout so i'm tired but
02:40i want to see with a woman a beautiful woman watching me how many people if i just oh

02:56wow cody always was um like obsessed about working out always obsessed but it was an obsession i thought i don't
03:03remember him working out in our early years of marriage as much as he does now he's in pretty good
03:12shape he works hard all right all right all right all right you're good i'm impressed i feel like cody
03:20working out is kind of icing on the cake i appreciate that he takes care of himself
03:24but really what is the core of it is is who he is as a person something that really always uh makes
03:33me just go around with cody is when he's a good dad i'm looking buff yeah i'm a little sweaty you don't
03:41want to touch me do you i'll kiss your lips
03:44oh wow yeah hi hi how's it going oh it's going good one i just thought maybe we'd have a little
03:55private moment you could tell me kind of how things went oh uh it was good i mean
04:05should i sit down it's a fast trip i would have you sit down yeah he's back from north carolina from
04:13talking to janelle and want to check in with him and kind of talk to him and see how he feels about
04:17it you're feeling okay it was a good trip and uh and you know you you just don't know what to expect
04:25when you're meeting with an axe i just was like well i just want to get real here with you and just
04:32say i'm sorry i just apologize oh you were saying this yeah yeah to her i thought she was generous
04:40with how easy i mean there's a lot under the bridge you know so janelle was easy going with you
04:48i thought she was just kind about it really and i even thanked her for being kind about it because
04:53this is it's it's a journey thing it's it's it's a it's about just getting things right i mean but i had
05:04to get my mind set in a funny place like literally i had to just get prayerful and say hey god you
05:11know i i gotta forgive so that i can apologize help me out here after doing this with janelle do you
05:24how are you like are you feeling like what your choice in deciding to do this was the right thing
05:32to do to be fair to janelle i thought she made it easy enough yeah was that well not not not about
05:39janelle no i'm moving forward you like does this afterwards what no matter what anybody says
05:47or anybody's reaction i mean this is really about whether or not you feel like god is witnessing to
05:54you it was the right thing to do that yes i'm apologizing yeah and and it just feels so much better good
06:03who cody has been the last few years is really not who cody is cody without the anger is a really good guy
06:19to say that it went as good as it could be with janelle i think is a little bit understatement
06:28there was a lot of grace there i'm going to be fair i think the easiest of the chores was
06:34going to see janelle and apologize to her so when i go see christine i don't expect it to be easy
06:41necessarily who knows um with with christine it could be it could go even smoother it could go um not as
06:51smooth i don't i don't know she could be extremely angry and really push back or another extreme she
06:59could just not take it serious at all and for me this is very serious a couple words i want to use
07:10are sober and pious it's not for me to go joking around about this and
07:16and so i i'm just hoping of the same kind of tenderness and grace that i've experienced
07:23with it with janelle but i am prepared for a very different experience
07:33we might could scoot the griddles down more yeah where they're not right in the sunshine shawnee and
07:40i are working on getting everything prepped today for the breakfast that we're having here
07:46tomorrow we're doing a fundraiser for jen and her family
07:54jen's husband sean has been battling cancer for two years every bit of what we make is going to be
08:01going directly to jen and her hospital bills for nearly 14 years jen has been the person who
08:10has been like my rock she is there to do and support and just be there with me and cry with me she
08:18just is that person and she's just always been there for me
08:28she just deserves to have the support
08:31it is probably one of my least favorite things
08:34when when people do things like this for me i love doing things like this for others
08:42but i keep going back to but what about what about them what about you know and so i i struggle with
08:49that i'll be over there around 7 7 15 we'll do the bike ride we'll come back here we'll make pancakes
08:58what about pre-mixing eggs oh no we're not doing scrambled eggs right we're doing just fried eggs
09:02i think fried eggs will be easier then we don't have to we don't have the mess of mixing them and
09:06everything yeah yeah shawnee is the best support system okay jen might actually be mad amber might
09:14actually be mad shawnee is one of my three best support systems i mean like i don't know if four women
09:23were ever created to be together and not have a matching husband you know like it is us i swear
09:35so when i look at the four of us and how well we work together it is completely different than
09:44like me and my sister wives were could have been really cool if our sister wife relationship could
09:53have been like this i will never be sister wives with these ladies because um well let's see two of
10:00them are married already to different men uh one of them is dating somebody um oh also i have no interest
10:06in being a polygamist again so yeah the sister wife dynamic is over for me um so yeah that's never gonna
10:12happen who's all coming then jen jen and amber and ron ron's going what's going on with ron have you
10:24been on dates yes we have been out on dates yes
10:34i'm really not one to put labels on things because like what do you call a date what does it mean when
10:40it's a date versus when it's a let's spend some time together you know what i mean so it's like why
10:47put a label on it the whole point is we're just getting to know each other
10:53i'm really excited that ron's going to come down for this fundraiser um i this is the first time that
10:59he's come down to my part of the world and um it's just going to be kind of cool to share it with him
11:06and just kind of let him in a little bit to to my world you know and meet my friends and just kind
11:12of hang out in my space so i'm really excited about it i just hope we have a lot of fun and it goes
11:18really well my friends angela and christina are in town first time they've come to north carolina to
11:28see me i love this place like i love it they have cute little like their coffees are good they have
11:34good food i just recently had a a sit down with cody my head still is kind of like what the heck
11:41happened because it was so it was intense since i saw you guys last cody came in i think i told you
11:50cody was going to come he came to north carolina right yeah but you just had a big question mark in
11:55your head but i'm like okay i'll go see what he has to say because i'm like all right i agreed to
12:01it because i didn't want to wear just regular clothes i mean i bet she looked like a queen
12:08i'm sure she did what did he wear a visor
12:15i think he had a suit jacket on like it oh so he was like a little dressed up more elevated oh yeah
12:20interesting man bun no man bun no what did like what was your energy going into it were you nervous
12:28were you excited were you annoyed i was just like i was kind of like i just want to i was really
12:34intending to sit down listen to him for 10 minutes and leave i just really i needed him to say his thing
12:38and i was going to leave right and robin didn't come with him right no i mean he might she might have
12:43been somewhere to like sit down with the three of you or he just wanted to talk no because she speaks cody you
12:47know in case i needed translating when cody said he wanted to come for whatever to see me i said that's
12:57fine but you can't bring robin don't want i have no interest in having her here i just don't think she
13:02really has to be involved in anything cody has to say to me and if he has something to say to me that
13:06involves her i really don't think i need to hear it i just don't i have this list i mean why now why all
13:13of a sudden like all these things right and we got there and um it's like i i actually left after
13:23like an hour and a half and it took me like a while to decompress the whole thing because it was so
13:28intense like it was and it wasn't intense bad it was just intense did it sound disingenuous no it
13:34sounded genuine okay were you just like shocked at all the things that were coming out of his mouth or
13:39were you taking a like no i knew that it was going to most likely be some sort of an apology
13:44i didn't know why he was coming he's filled with guilt i mean he went from this charming guy to
13:50so he was like his old self yeah like i don't it was like a different version yeah this is who like
13:55he was not this intense but he was very kind like that that's how he used to be there was a part of me
14:02that really good needed to hear some of it i've realized and i told him i said it's been good to hear
14:06some of these things is there any part of you that would ever go back to cody
14:20i don't have a lot of trust with cody that this conversation is going to go well
14:27it's weird because we haven't really had a conversation since i left not really it's in
14:31my hands to make sure nothing get she doesn't get harmed by it
14:46here we are at gear up bike and sports this is jen and sean's shop
14:50we're all just getting ready for the bike ride we're going to run you're going to jump
15:01hi hi how are you look at you being all festive
15:11he's here he showed up and i'm really excited it'll be fun it'll be fun to um
15:17um yeah it'll just be fun to have him meet all my friends and for my friends to meet him
15:25yellow is good we love yellow how's it going good did you sleep good yeah yeah yeah i slept well
15:31yeah i had like four hours
15:34i know i was trying to decide if i wanted to bring a jacket
15:49oh this is shawnee this is ron hi ron nice to meet you
15:53nice to meet you do you have a helmet you have a helmet did you bring a helmet are you gonna you
15:59don't have to wear it it's completely up to you i don't think you don't like to wear it um
16:07you're like living on the edge
16:09that's funny i mean we're just getting to know each other it's just comfortable thank you thank
16:24you all for coming um and doing this bike ride to help support jen um and her family please please
16:34please be very careful on the road that's what i care about most in this moment i've really enjoyed
16:40getting to know ron over the past few months and just kind of like how he thinks and his dynamic and
16:50you know like who he is as a person and it's it's just been really cool i've really enjoyed it
16:56i'm really glad that ron took the time out of his schedule and his weekend to come down here
17:17to the right to the right you know it just makes me feel like
17:22i i matter to him his e-bikes are too big to pop a wheelie i think too heavy it's like
17:33it's going to be kind of interesting to to watch him and see how he is in my world if he's comfortable
17:43or if he's not comfortable or you know i i don't know it's just going to be it's i'm going to be very
17:50observant today look i mean i think at some point i thought what if he like what if we worked this out
18:07i feel like we've needed knowledge branch the entire family and janelle you get the high owner
18:13and being the person i felt the safest with to start offering that olive branch
18:18oh we did we had a good we had a we had a great like like i i i'm grateful for what we had yeah
18:26i really am it's just one of those thoughts you know you have when you sit down with an ex you're
18:30like
18:33he wasn't trying to get you back was he oh no i don't think so there's like he wasn't trying to
18:38leave the door open for that no i don't think so because he really i mean he really can you know
18:42he says all the time how much he loves robin and she's his true love or whatever and i'm like that's
18:45great you guys can have each other but you're i mean cordial and you guys have so many shared
18:52family members and everything's going to be hard to avoid i'm sure that you know right you know what
18:56i mean i'm sure didn't even ask how the kids it seems like an angle to get to the kids he wants to
19:02soften you i don't know i do think he's had some sort of i said when i said to him did you have you
19:08gone to a 12-step program i couldn't figure out why all of a sudden like he was having some sort of
19:12remorse you know what i mean like but it just sort of felt like that like he was really trying
19:16to kind of write some of the things like that he'd done wrong i'm glad that he apologized for
19:21some of the stuff he's yeah there's a lot more though that needs to be said you know i had wanted
19:29to bring up the kids with him when we met i think they really feel like their dad didn't treat their
19:36mother's fair like there's just a lot of things right there's a lot of things over the years so
19:43now that that's done with are we going to get spiritually divorced yep it's in the works so what
19:48do you have to do i'm going to go meet with him in person and okay and you talk won't be very fast
19:54i mean it won't be very long this feels like the timing is right now the property is done
19:58we've set our piece and now it feels like it's time to really cut that and move on
20:02well that's exciting yeah is there like a it won't be a divorce party oh you should have or
20:10independence party or yes i think there's a forever cody brown party or i think it's gonna be
20:16yeah you don't want to spiritually have to be up there forever with him we'll have to go somewhere
20:21to celebrate what can we call it we call it speed dating we can just trick her and be like surprise
20:28you get two minutes to talk to every single one of these guys uh it's divorce like it's
20:33basically our version of a divorce right okay i guess yeah yeah good for you i mean the financial
20:40ties are dissolved cody and i meeting sort of put a few of the little pieces that were missing out of
20:46the chapter of the book that's closed but i don't really care what cody thinks about me seeking a
20:52spiritual release i don't care i don't really know if i'll feel any different once the spiritual
20:59release is done but intellectually i'll know that there's a difference
21:08it'd be a good idea for me to get to know david because i've seen him make a lot of comments about me
21:12not even knowing me so i'm like well david you really don't know me
21:16uh thanks for meeting with me suck those beers down because i got some fun stuff to share with
21:23you oh my god now i'm nervous no no don't be nervous i promise
21:34david and i are in vegas uh cody reached out to me and wanted to chat have a little
21:40what did he call extend an olive branch meeting up with cody has me doubting myself and my ability
21:46to be strong and i don't like that either i'm very frustrated with myself or even thinking that i
21:51can't do this conversation it's weird because we haven't really had a conversation since i left
21:57not really not really i don't think so i just don't know what's going to happen i told christine
22:03there's two ways to go it can go really good or it can go really bad i'm curious why so we're
22:09hoping that it'll go good it'll be okay and that's where our level's at expectation okay if it goes
22:17better than that great great and even if it goes worse than that it's still okay because we'll just
22:21pick up the piece again and try this again yep so then dill okay i love you i got your back i know i
22:30wouldn't do this without you it's in my hands to make sure nothing get she doesn't get harmed by it
22:40i don't have a lot of trust with cody that this conversation is going to go well
22:52i'm sitting here in las vegas i've uh i asked christine to meet me i'm here basically in the
23:06simplest of terms to apologize to christine i asked david to come along it'd be a good idea
23:15for me to get to know david because i've seen him make a lot of comments about me not even knowing me
23:21so i'm like well david you really don't know me it could go any direction but there's there's been a
23:28lot of hurt in the family and i'm guilty of of so much of it and the reason i'm afraid is because
23:35others are guilty too but that's not why i'm here to focus on that i'm like i want to wash that away
23:44las vegas has always been will probably always be very nostalgic for me i mean our family thrived
23:51here robin is i think she's a little nervous about the experience that i can have she's going to
23:57worry about me and i can't stop her from worrying about me and it never occurred to me to go because
24:03it's always been like cody has had his individual relationships with each
24:08wife even though they're now ex-wives it's it's i don't know i i'm like it's still
24:17sort of the same not really though i don't know it's so weird i don't know hi how are you
24:27i'm okay how are you good i'm i'm relaxing in a cabana poolside
24:36we're way past due for a time of healing so here we go yeah but you got to realize that everybody
24:42has their journey this is a shared responsibility between everyone i would just be patient with it
24:49and try not to react thank you i want you to know that that i don't i don't want you to feel pressure i
24:57just you know it's just i'm here to do it this is reason i'm here i'm here to do it
25:07david isn't the wild card in this christine is more of a wild card depending on her mood is she
25:15going to be really really light is she going to be very uncomfortable so she gets silly or is she going
25:20to be get really serious with me i don't know i don't like hard conversations i've never liked
25:30hard conversations and hard conversations with david are great they're fine but hard conversations
25:35with cody weren't fine they weren't they were terrible christine's do she's nervous about the
25:46whole deal um she's trying to help her get through it because this is a big deal i don't know what to
25:53believe with cody anymore i don't know what to trust i don't trust him at all to be honest so he says he
26:00just wants to i don't even know i don't know i don't know what's happening i don't know i know
26:04that he's reached out he wants to talk i just have to keep reminding myself and he was a great guy when
26:10i married him cody was the kid's hero he was their hero he would come home and the kids would all
26:15gather around him and he'd play with them keep going catch him catch him
26:20it was just cute but that did change
26:30like yeah everything changed cody's an adult i'm an adult we should be able to be around each other

27:24this is the first time that ron's been down here to parowan and meeting all my friends

27:57and that was kind of fun to see but looks like a great town i'm really really happy that she invited me
28:05ron just is kind of like pitching in and doing whatever he needs to do
28:09when he needs to do it and i just appreciate that it's a good sign of a good person to just
28:13like pitch in like that we'll find out if he's a good cook
28:22if they oh good you didn't scramble i'm like do i need to keep the yolks whole no
28:26i mean i'm assuming we're doing yeah i like that that's what i do yeah i think it's just because
28:31there's so many i'm clicking hi oh yeah sorry thanks we have this all under control what what
28:36happened that one shell we had to tag team in a little bit what happened they're not burnt
28:40they're just taking a little while oh this look good look at that i guess ron and amber were working

30:52kind i mean like friendly like this will be i hope a friendly exchange

31:38is cody brown yeah thank you there's gonna be we got a lot of people i know it looks like a family
31:48meal babe we need this table i think the last time we talked about our relationship may very well have
31:54been when she told me we're done she's done and she wants to move you're like i'm divorced i'm leaving
32:03i'm done with you you're out of my house you never tried to have really good relationship with these
32:09other people and that's the reason i'm pissed off i mean i didn't react really positively to any of that
32:17i am walking into an environment where trust has been killed i mean we don't have trust but i am
32:22walking into an environment where i have said i am offering an olive branch so with the olive branch i'm
32:29going to extend the hand of fellowship and it might go to a hug thanks lexi hey hey that's a
32:38really big table that was too big of a table so how's it going i know i was telling david that we
32:45needed to have one of those when the kids were younger how are you david not too bad how are you
32:48sir i'm good yeah i asked for david to be present with christine because they're married i want to
32:53respect their marriage i'm just hoping he will not interrupt my effort to apologize uh thanks for
33:03meeting with me suck those beers down because i got some fun stuff to share with you oh my god

33:23jen is basically she means the world to me she's my best friend of what 13 years now
33:31i am so happy that so many people in the town showed up for this
33:38i love the sense of community here that you get in a small town that you don't get in a big city
33:50okay i got it sean came jen told him you have to come you're not coming to the bike ride but you have
33:56to come to this this big of it a healing journey you know to make sure that he heals so he can
34:04be around for his family it has definitely taken an emotional toll on both of them at at times you
34:12know um but they're both like getting through it mary is like like a sister to me she people don't
34:21understand and i try to let her be and try to stay out of as much as i can and then i'll help her and
34:26i'll do things for her but i see love like you won't believe i see so so much of a caring person and people
34:32don't realize that and understand that but she means a lot to me like the world i know much she
34:36means to my wife they're like that that that team you know that strong bond and uh so i just i adore her
34:43to death hold on ready catch it's just it's a great day i didn't i didn't expect this and i'm just grateful
34:56we called curd we did it all audrey do you want to eat i'm really lucky to have such an amazing
35:03best friend she's always there for me and i'm so lucky for that requested a picture with me and
35:08shawnee first of course they did we don't know who they are but we definitely want a picture with
35:13okay our yellows and our pinks very very spring all right one two three okay got it
35:21yay i'm glad that ron came um um i i yeah i'm glad ron came like i think it's cute he's just like
35:32oh what can i do to help and he's just helping i think that ron is a really nice guy and as soon as
35:38mary had mentioned to him that we were doing this he's like i'm down i'll be there and i just i love
35:43that i thought he was a really nice guy when i first met him at speed dating and i thought you know
35:47what they would get along really well and they tend to so it worked out really well you know it's
35:52different dating in your in your 50s um but you just you know i've been on a lot of dates uh last
35:58couple years but um i love it when you meet someone who's genuine and and very nice and easy to you know
36:03easy to talk to and um you know with mary's like just her inviting me down here made me feel great and
36:08she's been you know she's been great how you doing you know and um she let me help i just said let me
36:12help give me something to do and so that was really fun but i i do appreciate um i can tell
36:17mary's just really genuine and uh just a great great person it was super fun it was a really good day
36:24and ron came and that was super fun too i loved being able to you know just see how he interacts with
36:34kind of in my world you know like with my friends it's like and then also do my friends like him and
36:39does he you know what i mean and and i don't know he fits
36:51she seems amiable and he seems amiable my best guess is that christine's gotten over it and moving
36:58on very happily or and or david has said hey baby you know you ought to talk to the axe of yours and
37:05maybe get some healing we we've we've lost trust but we're trying to establish
37:11friendly and we do that with an olive branch christine's not a confrontational person usually
37:18she can get pushed she usually is not confrontational so she's probably
37:23wants you know my reaction seeing her is that she wants something amiable
37:30why'd you want to meet together i wanted to apologize with all my heart
37:39ah
37:48for how we broke up for how it all went down i want to apologize for being angry about it
37:54i want to apologize for uh the struggles that's not necessary okay let's go bam bam bam let's just
38:08do it then i'm all for this i'm actually all for a conversation that goes bam bam bam bam bam bam
38:15just the hard times i also want to just acknowledge the good times
38:30i want you to be able to heal
38:36and and healing will probably can maybe happen i can't tell you how it's going to happen or what
38:43but i just feel like if i apologize you can get in that space where you feel like you're healing
38:54also understand this it's in the past it's in the past and it's okay but an apology doesn't
39:00apologies are nice but i'm saying it's okay if i wouldn't have messed it up then you wouldn't have
39:08what you have later you might want to punch me right now you probably still really appreciate it
39:16the thing is like when i talk to christine about you i see it from a guy's point of view i really do
39:23i get where you're coming from in a lot of ways i appreciate the sort of the vote of uh grace yeah david
39:32thank you i appreciate what what david's sharing um it's only it's the only difficulty in apologizing
39:41to my ex while her husband is here his that he wants to be involved in the conversation and it's
39:48not an apology to him or from him i um i i apologize here's the huge one for saying i didn't love you
40:02that i was angry and that wasn't cool
40:16again you just gotta let that go look i i remember what it was like but i've got a new husband
40:23here now that's weird man that's a weird thing to say i have a husband right here now you know to
