00:01The Great Escapers, brought to you by Jet 2 Holidays.
00:05Ahoy there, ladies!
00:08Stars from Britain's best-loved shows are jetting off for a holiday showdown.
00:13Is anyone else nervous? Yeah.
00:15Legends of Corrie, I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here,
00:18Loose Women and The Chase are competing against their fellow castmates.
00:24Hey, no road rage please.
00:26To prove they can deliver the best holiday adventure.
00:30You like that break a bit, do you watch?
00:31I'm not even pressing the break.
00:33Each famous face...
00:34Can we get back to coronation, please?
00:36O-M-G.
00:37DJ Destroyer!
00:38...will plan their dream day in the sun.
00:40We are Loose Women. Together we can do anything.
00:43And at the end of the week...
00:45They'll vote to decide who will be crowned the greatest escaper.
00:50Are we all thinking, I want to win?
00:52Yes.
00:53Only one of us can be the greatest escaper.
00:56Who is it gonna be?
01:00The Spanish Costa Brava.
01:07A delicious mix of stunning beaches, quaint villages and dramatic coastline.
01:12As well as being a holiday favourite, it's the perfect spot to battle for the title of The Greatest Escaper.
01:19Swapping the studio for a showdown in the sun are three of Loose Women's most outspoken stars.
01:26First to check in, actress and broadcaster Denise Welsh.
01:31I like to fly and flop.
01:34All I want to do is lie on the sun bed and scroll on my phone.
01:38Morning!
01:39Morning!
01:40What do they say?
01:41If you look like your passport picture, you're not well enough to travel.
01:44They are.
01:45Having said that, I would like to win.
01:47So on this trip, I don't just want to do what I normally do.
01:51I want to try some activities with a little bit of flopping in between.
01:57Our next escaper is actress and presenter, Sinetra Sarka.
02:01I'd say a typical lovely holiday for me would be lying by the pool, good book, good music, maybe a cocktail.
02:10Did somebody mention a Bloody Mary?
02:13Hello.
02:14Morning.
02:15Morning.
02:16I think I look like the kind of person nobody thinks is going to win, but I think I might actually win.
02:23And our final competitor is presenter, author and charity founder, Katie Piper MBE.
02:29This trip is very different for me because I have not been on holiday about my children, like, at all.
02:35And maybe I'd just like to let go a bit.
02:37I always get that moment.
02:38Like, have I got my passport?
02:39I always get.
02:41Would I describe myself as competitive?
02:43Yeah, I would.
02:44Girls holiday!
02:45Oh my God!
02:46So gloves are off.
02:47I'm going to enjoy the vibes, enjoy the company and may the best person win.
02:53We're off!
02:54Bye England!
02:55It's just a two hour flight from the UK to the Costa Brava and the Loose Women's Hotel in Tossa de Mar.
03:06Here we are.
03:07With our Loose Ladies checked in.
03:10Cheers girls ladies!
03:12Cheers ladies!
03:13It's a chance to check out the competition before it all kicks off tomorrow.
03:16Are we all thinking, I want to win?
03:20Yeah.
03:21I mean...
03:22Of course you are.
03:23I didn't think I was competitive until my whole family when I said, well I'm not competitive.
03:27They all spat their drink out at the same time as if, what are you talking about?
03:32I actually also think you are very steely and determined.
03:37Who me?
03:38Yeah.
03:39I'm the one that flips the board game at Christmas.
03:40Yeah.
03:41You're the bad loser.
03:42Yeah.
03:43It's really bad.
03:44What are you like to holiday with?
03:45Are you a bit sort of out there on holiday or do you really just switch off?
03:48Well obviously my dancing on the tables naked days went with, you know, when I gave up alcohol.
03:53And these days, things that used to be there, I can play, um, keepy-oppy with.
03:59Stop it!
04:05It's day one of the competition.
04:07Katie Piper is in the hot seat today.
04:09She's meeting customer helper Gio.
04:12Katie!
04:13Gio!
04:14Good to see you.
04:15To help her build a winning day.
04:17So when I was at home researching the trip, I found this thing called the human tower.
04:22Yes.
04:23I was just like, wow, that would be so cool because that's about leaning on each other,
04:27achieving things as a group.
04:29I'm just hoping it might like bond us a bit closer.
04:32Absolutely.
04:33It's a really, really old tradition that we do here dating back all the way to the 18th century.
04:37Oh wow.
04:38It's all about community, you know, working together, teamwork to achieve this fantastic thing.
04:42I'll speak to the group that kind of do it.
04:44I'll tell them that you guys really want to get involved and be hands-on and fully immerse yourself in their culture.
04:48Once you've stood on someone's shoulders, you really know them.
04:51Absolutely, absolutely.
04:52Well, let's just hope it's something relaxing because I'm so lazy, Sinatra.
04:57We are all people who like to be horizontal as much as possible.
05:01I would like to take the ladies out on a boat.
05:04OK.
05:05I'm thinking like catamaran.
05:06Well, we can absolutely make that happen.
05:08And I think it's nice because, you know, it's your day one.
05:10You need to set the tone for the competition and that's quite a good showstopper.
05:13I feel because we are so close to the sea, it's got to be something to do with the water.
05:17I hope it's not because I'm frightened of the sea.
05:20Well, me too.
05:21Unless they're trying to get us to recreate Baywash.
05:23You know, run, run, run along, run along.
05:25Good luck with that.
05:26I don't think so.
05:27I'm really excited about my day.
05:30Sun is shining, always puts you in a good mood.
05:34Kicking off with culture, Katie's first activity is in the historic town of Tordera.
05:41A chance to get to know each other more intimately, along with a few dozen Spaniards.
05:46I wanted to come and do this because it's incredibly difficult and challenging.
05:51But you need to pull together and do it together and help one another.
05:55I don't know what their reaction is going to be.
05:57They might be slightly nervous at first.
05:59Hector.
06:00Hello.
06:01Hi, Katie.
06:02Good to meet you.
06:03We have no idea what this is.
06:04We are Castellas.
06:05Castellas, right?
06:06Yeah, we are doing human towers.
06:08What does human towers mean?
06:10Human towers mean towers made by people.
06:14Quickly, each other.
06:16You climb on top of each other's shoulders.
06:17What are they?
06:18No!
06:19Are you crazy?
06:20Are you mad?
06:21Have you done this?
06:22No, but I'm sure I'll make a success of it.
06:25I've actually just wet myself.
06:27I think this is definitely going to be a little bit of a team building, bonding exercise.
06:33Hold my hands.
06:34We are loose women.
06:35Together we can do anything, alright?
06:37Oh my gosh.
06:38Starting as an elaborate folk dance, they've been building human towers here since the
06:4518th century.
06:49While the strongest make the bass, the smallest better not have vertigo, as they are the cherry
06:54on the top.
06:55Very amazing, don't you think?
07:00Yeah, look at that.
07:01Yeah.
07:02I can just imagine, though, the way that my Louis was.
07:05He would have gone...
07:06My mum's making me go to the town square and stand on Uncle John's shoulders.
07:10Oh my God.
07:11We really are out of our comfort zone.
07:23All I want is as many photos as possible of this, because this is something I can guarantee
07:29will never happen again.
07:31We'll never do it again.
07:32Only when the tiniest gets to the summit is the tower complete.
07:36I think probably they're a little bit anxious.
07:38Are they fully on board yet?
07:40No.
07:41Do they have any choice?
07:42No.
07:43So, now we will place you and your job is like to push the back of the people.
07:47Something happens, you will have to push a little bit.
07:50Okay.
07:51It won't happen anything but...
07:52To support the others?
07:53Yes, just to support the base.
07:55One here.
07:56You will be here.
07:57You have to push this back and support here.
08:01And you're here.
08:04Here.
08:05Push here.
08:06I feel like I'm pushing this poor girl over.
08:09Now you have to put your arms up.
08:12And with the hand.
08:14No.
08:15You.
08:16Up.
08:17And you here.
08:18Well, I need to mention that I'm married.
08:21It's not British to have somebody's balls in your lower back.
08:25And then I was kind of leaning my pubic bone into like somebody else in front of me.
08:29In England, some people don't even let you like hug them when you greet them.
08:32It's important to not look up.
08:33If it falls, you can get hurt.
08:34But how do we know if they fall?
08:35These people?
08:36We'll tell you.
08:37Yes.
08:38It's quite stressful.
08:39I was a little bit cynical, but I felt an energy.
08:42And I felt that I was really part of the support team.
08:45And it felt lovely and important.
08:46I just love the theatre.
08:47It was a little bit cynical, but I felt an energy.
08:52And I felt that I was really part of the support team.
09:11And it felt lovely and important.
09:13I just love the theatre of it all.
09:15They dress for it.
09:16They're proud of it.
09:17There's a real community spirit that you can feel inside there.
09:20I'm really glad you had a go at doing this because it's something we would never in a million years have tried.
09:25I think Katie made a sterling effort.
09:28So she's going to be hard to beat.
09:30Well done.
09:31Hey.
09:32You were brilliant.
09:34I've faced a lot of like physical and like mental challenges in my life at a young age, in my 20s.
09:40I was badly burned with sulfuric acid.
09:42Somebody that I had begun to date and then rejected, arranged for someone to attack me.
09:48But I've really moved on.
09:50And it's really taught me that sometimes when you think everything's falling apart in your world,
09:55what it's actually doing is really like forming your character and building your resilience.
10:00Nobody ever found their strength on a mediocre day.
10:03You know, it's in those more testing times that we work out what we're really capable of.
10:08At the Loose Women Christmas party, there'll be over 20 of us there.
10:15Perfect.
10:16We'll do it there.
10:17Perfect.
10:18Magic.
10:19Janice.
10:20Janice.
10:21Janice.
10:22Janice.
10:23Janice.
10:24Janice.
10:25Janice.
10:26After spending the morning being clambered over, the ladies have adopted a more traditional loose women formation.
10:33For a spot of lunch.
10:34We'll get some food, we'll get a bit of energy.
10:36Despite it being Katie's day, in true panel show fashion.
10:40This is where my books might come in handy.
10:43It's Sennetra who's taken charge.
10:45What is the local espiality?
10:49The tortillas of tortillas.
10:51Oh, so tortillas is a speciality of this local area.
10:55Ooh, I think I'm about to tell them I've got a broken tooth.
10:59My girls' holiday does have a really nice vibe about it,
11:02so for me to be doing one now at the grand old age of 51 is lovely.
11:08Have you told the other Liz women that we're doing this?
11:10Well, on the WhatsApp group, I nearly mentioned,
11:12oh, guess what, we're all away, and I thought, oh, no, that sounds so smug.
11:15Do you think they'd be generous? Yeah, I do.
11:18Rightly so. I mean, we are having a great time.
11:21We don't often get the chance to socialise,
11:24so this is a lovely opportunity to get out on the tune.
11:28This has been a very, very good start, I have to say.
11:31You're doing well, Katie.
11:33Unpack then swim, or jump right in.
11:43Darling, hold my head!
11:46The Great Escapers, brought to you by Jet 2 Holidays.
11:50Sunbed snoozing, or speedboat cruising?
11:54Darling, hold my head!
11:57The Great Escapers, brought to you by Jet 2 Holidays.
12:01Three of Loose Women's finest have swapped the studio
12:11for the sun-kissed Spanish Costa Brava,
12:14where they're competing over who can put on the best day out.
12:18It's Katie Piper's day today.
12:20She's brought the girls to Platya Gran,
12:22one of the most popular beaches in the Costa Brava,
12:25and Katie has gone all out for the win.
12:27Trust me, trust me.
12:29Right, turn around, look over here, ignore the screaming children,
12:32and look over there at that boat.
12:34That's where I'm taking you.
12:36The posh boat?
12:37Yes!
12:38It's luxurious!
12:39Hang on a minute, there's got to be a catch.
12:42Katie has hired a swanky catamaran
12:45to take the ladies to a neighbouring bay.
12:48When you've got to a certain stage of life,
12:50you want a little bit of luxury,
12:52you want it to feel a bit bougie.
12:54I have a bit of a sort of gap in my 20s
12:56when I was primarily in hospital,
12:58so I just didn't holiday for years at all.
13:00So, yeah, I really look forward to my holidays.
13:03Beautiful!
13:06It's not just about winning the competition,
13:08I want to give my friends a good day.
13:09Hunky crew!
13:11So I think that adds a little bit of, like,
13:13nervous energy for me.
13:14This is the life.
13:16This is like...
13:17I feel like I'm in Duran Duran video all of a sudden.
13:19Duran Duran, what?
13:20Showing your age!
13:24Are you going to jump in at any point?
13:25Absolutely!
13:26Are you a jumper in? Sinatra, are you?
13:27No.
13:28But I think even if you don't want to jump in,
13:30maybe you can, like, hang your legs off, have a dip.
13:32Have you heard about free diving? Is it free diving?
13:35Oh, yeah, I'm not up for anything like that.
13:37I've done, like, wild swimming.
13:39No.
13:40Yeah, and it was December when I did it.
13:41No!
13:42Why?
13:43It's very exhilarating.
13:44It releases dopamine.
13:45It can be good for, like, depression, anxiety.
13:47Like, there is this thing of, like,
13:49oh, my God, if I've done that, I can do anything.
13:51Can I ask you something, Katie?
13:53Do your scars ever respond to sea waterfalls?
13:56No, the only thing is I'm not really supposed to go in,
13:58like, the sun...
13:59I use, like, SPF.
14:00You know, I can't go in the sun.
14:01I try and wear a hat and glasses.
14:02But I don't remember that I've got scars.
14:04I don't feel, like, conscious.
14:06I do everything that I did before.
14:08I'm in the skimpiest bikini.
14:10Well, you've got the most fabulous body.
14:12I've got an eyeful from here.
14:24We're gonna have to get in the water.
14:25I won't jump off this boat.
14:26What are you scared of?
14:27I'm scared of the deep water.
14:30I cannot put my head under the water at any point.
14:33So I am going to joyfully watch you, push you, whatever.
14:37So you won't swim with your head above the water here?
14:39Sure.
14:40I won't go... I won't jump off this boat.
14:46I've had so many times when I can't do things because of reasons out of my control,
14:52where I have unexpected operations or, like, medical emergencies,
14:56and I'm not allowed to even shower.
14:58I'm in.
14:59Nice.
15:00I'm in.
15:01Oh, it is actually...
15:02Now, now it's actually really nice.
15:04Why don't your shoulders are under?
15:05Refreshing.
15:06We're here now and I'm gonna jump in because, like, in a month's time,
15:10something could go wrong with my eye and I'm not allowed to get it wet.
15:13I'm not allowed to be near any bacterias, anything like that.
15:16If I ever get presented with an opportunity to do something,
15:19and I can, I will do it.
15:21Go on, girl.
15:22One, two, three.
15:23Whoo!
15:28It's intimidating!
15:29Is it?
15:33I'm jealous now.
15:35I'm just wondering.
15:37Shall I do it?
15:43Here we go. Nana's coming in.
15:45Yay!
15:46Come on.
15:47I'm gonna go as far as this step.
15:48There you go.
15:49There you go.
15:50Come on.
15:51Who said it wasn't freezing in here?
15:54You can do it, Denise.
15:56Go on.
15:57Yeah.
15:58That's it.
15:59You're halfway there now.
16:00You may as well carry on.
16:01You're halfway...
16:02Yeah!
16:03Oh!
16:04Oh!
16:05Oh!
16:06Oh!
16:07Oh!
16:08Oh!
16:09Oh!
16:10Oh!
16:11I've had so much fun.
16:12Like, I don't know if I'm allowed to,
16:14because I'm supposed to be hosting them.
16:16I think the others did enjoy it
16:17because I think it was a nice mixture
16:18of a bit of relaxation
16:20and then they both got in the water.
16:22I feel like today's been a real success.
16:24I did work hard to pull all the stops out.
16:28I did it.
16:29That's it.
16:30That's me done.
16:31It's been like, you know,
16:32a bit of a feel-good dopamine hit.
16:34Can you please give me more praise for doing it?
16:36Thank you!
16:38Oh, girls, I did it!
16:40Woo!
16:41Oh, my gosh, that was just amazing.
16:43I'm not a brilliant swimmer,
16:45but there's something really magical
16:46about lying in the sea,
16:48and it was gorgeous.
16:49Really good start to the holiday.
16:51It's just been really relaxing,
16:53and I didn't, in a million years,
16:55think that I would venture into the sea.
16:57So I am very proud of my little old self
17:00for doing that.
17:02I feel like a new woman!
17:04Woo!
17:05That was just what I needed!
17:07I've loved this activity, Katie.
17:11Absolutely.
17:12Katie has started the activities
17:15with a bang.
17:17This one is going to be hard to beat,
17:19but I think I am going to beat you.
17:23I feel like we could stay here all day, though,
17:25like, see the sun's setting.
17:26I could definitely stay here all day.
17:33It's day two of our Loose Women getaway,
17:36and after Katie's strong start yesterday,
17:38it's time for Denise to put her money
17:40where her mouth is and see if she can top it.
17:43I hope that the girls will enjoy my day,
17:46because all the activities mean something to me.
17:49I am apparently competitive.
17:51I think that's utter rubbish.
17:53But would I like to win? Yes.
17:55Do I think I'll win? Yes.
17:58How was yesterday?
17:59The girl done good.
18:00Katie did a good day, but I want to do a better one.
18:03So I've got some ideas.
18:04Horse riding.
18:05Wow, okay.
18:07I started when I was nine.
18:09Okay.
18:10And from the moment I walked into the stable yard,
18:13I was hooked.
18:14And it's kind of a nostalgia thing about when I was little
18:17and things I used to do,
18:18so that would be lovely to share that with the girls.
18:20Absolutely.
18:21From where we are just now, about 20 minutes away,
18:22there's a fantastic nature reserve,
18:24and it's called Montenegre.
18:26A lot of people come here specifically for mountain biking,
18:29all that sort of thing,
18:30but it's also very well known for its horse riding trails.
18:33Oh, good.
18:34Yes, do you do all the jumps and the tricks
18:35and everything like that?
18:36Yeah, I don't know about tricks.
18:37Okay.
18:38But I can do a little bit of jumping, you know.
18:41Wow, okay.
18:42I definitely want to impress the girls in today.
18:43Of course.
18:44Absolutely.
18:45I want to show off.
18:46I am somebody that hates a surprise.
18:48I need to know climate.
18:49I need to know clothes.
18:50Yeah, I can tell that about you.
18:51Yeah, I need to know hair.
18:52I know Denise is the opposite of that,
18:54and she'll go,
18:55what, whatever, let's take our clothes off.
18:57And actually, don't say that.
18:58I'm not even wearing matching underwear today.
19:00I'm really not up for that.
19:02Listen, I'm a team player, but not to that extent.
19:05And then come to the evening.
19:08The neat oot.
19:09The neat oot.
19:10The neat oot.
19:11I would like an evening that incorporates a drag act
19:15or a drag show.
19:16Okay.
19:17Okay.
19:18Well, listen, I can make a few phone calls
19:19and get that all arranged 100%.
19:21She's also, I think, the most competitive out of the three.
19:24Oh, do you think so?
19:25Between you and me.
19:26I know you and me have got a kind of fighter spirit inside.
19:29Yeah.
19:30I think Denzi really wants this.
19:33What I want to get out of today is winning.
19:38I'm only joking.
19:39Not really.
19:40I think they're quite gung ho.
19:41Unless they've got a real fear of horses.
19:43And if they have, that's fine.
19:44I just don't want it that one of them ends up being better than me.
19:48With the friendly part of friendly competition already out the window,
19:52Denise is sneaking off to saddle up.
19:55Yeah.
19:56I think I'm going to be the only one of them.
19:57Good morning, ladies.
19:58Today, we're going to be doing something a bit different.
20:01I've gone ahead, but I've arranged a driver...
20:03Oh, busy.
20:04..who will take you out into the beautiful countryside of Santa Susana.
20:10It's becoming like a bit of a covert operation where I feel like all this secrecy.
20:18She's actually low-key wanting to really win this.
20:21A 40-minute drive south of Tosa de Mar is Santa Susana, the gateway to Park Del Montenegro y El Corridor, and a loose woman in stirrups.
20:34Come on.
20:35Come on.
20:36Go on.
20:37Go on.
20:38Go on.
20:39Oh, my goodness.
20:40Look!
20:41There's horses!
20:42Oh, don't say that.
20:43Look, is that Denise waving?
20:44It is!
20:45She's a dark horse, literally.
20:47Look.
20:48Let's go.
20:49Celetra, do you...
20:50Do you ride?
20:51Do a heck.
20:52Oh, she's brilliant.
20:55What a technique.
20:56That's amazing!
20:57So elegant.
20:59Last thing I expected.
21:00Was it really?
21:01I'm so scared of animals.
21:02Are you scared of horses?
21:03Or any animal in the world.
21:04Are you?
21:05Yeah.
21:06For me, this is a real rug pull, because I didn't even consider animals on this whole trip.
21:10Because I'm not very good with animals, I'm just a little bit scared of them.
21:13I've never even considered you as a horse rider, and now I see you, it just suits you so much.
21:18Is it relaxing?
21:19Well, it is for me.
21:20It wouldn't be for you, because you'd be terrified.
21:22So we're not going to get to see you on one?
21:24Yeah, I will try it.
21:25You will go on?
21:26I mean, do you not know I had to play a vet on television, petrified of animals?
21:30The minute they say action.
21:31Fine.
21:32In a million years, I just would not do this.
21:36What would I be doing today on holiday?
21:38Probably scrolling through my phone.
21:42Feeling a little bit isolated and on my own all of a sudden.
21:45Like, when I'm with the girls, I feel like, yeah, I can do anything.
21:48And now I'm on my own with just a horse called Flickr.
21:51I don't know what to do.
21:53I'm up.
21:54I may not be getting down, but I'm up.
21:57Hello.
21:59She's Flickr.
22:00She's Flickr.
22:01Hello, Flickr.
22:02I'm Sinatra.
22:04Right, so just put my foot in there.
22:07Yes.
22:08I'm so scared.
22:09I'm so scared.
22:10OK.
22:11Just hold on to here.
22:16I was really conscious that I hadn't done this before.
22:22And I wanted to enjoy it.
22:24But there was also, like, some natural instincts in me that were like,
22:27I don't do this.
22:28I don't know how this feels.
22:29I don't want to get on and breathe.
22:30You can feel the horse breathing.
22:32It's like, you know, it's a living animal.
22:34Shorten your reins.
22:35Even shorter.
22:36The more control.
22:37That's it.
22:38Oh, but I feel like I'm pulling his jaw.
22:39No, you're not.
22:40It doesn't matter.
22:41They're fine.
22:42You've got to control.
22:43Look, every time I pull it, he wants to go forward.
22:46Do you know something?
22:47I'll go first, and then yours will just naturally move.
22:50You might not want the girl with you.
22:52OK.
22:53Look, he's following.
22:54He's just following now.
22:55You'll just follow.
22:56Because they know they're going back.
22:57He knows you're the leader, so he knows what to do.
23:07Oh, Denise, this is beautiful.
23:08Isn't it?
23:09Look at the forest.
23:10Oh, you've pulled off a ten out of ten here.
23:13This is lovely.
23:19It's just nice to get out of the town, isn't it?
23:21Yeah.
23:22This is very peaceful.
23:23Right?
23:27There is something about being around horses.
23:31They are just a calming influence.
23:33I'm very open about my own mental health
23:36and about mental illness.
23:38Mine started as severe postnatal depression.
23:42Most women will make a full recovery.
23:45Sadly, I didn't.
23:46And it's funny because there's something healing about horses.
23:49You don't have to be on them, just around them.
23:52Do you know what's so funny, Den, right?
23:54Like, at work, you're so honest about all your struggles
23:58and, like, depression and stuff.
23:59And I feel like seeing you today on a horse,
24:02I'm like, this is Denise's therapy.
24:04Do you think?
24:05Like, this is your happy place.
24:06I mean, it wouldn't make me well if I was poorly,
24:09but it would make me better as I was recovering.
24:12Yeah.
24:13I gravitate towards them if I feel stressed or anxious.
24:17Yeah.
24:18I feel like we're seeing a different side of you here
24:20that we wouldn't see at work.
24:22And I feel at work, like, you do talk about riding a lot,
24:25but it's just not this kind of riding.
24:27How very dare you!
24:29I have no idea what you're talking about!
24:31How's Sinatra?
24:33Oh, my God!
24:34I mean, I've never had this feeling of a horse riding.
24:38Between your thighs!
24:40And having your legs open for this long as well
24:43is a really weird feeling.
24:45Unless you spend most nights with your legs akimbo,
24:48you'll really feel it, because I'll really feel it tomorrow.
24:51Please let it be over soon.
24:54Denise is so impressive.
24:56Really.
24:57She's a natural.
24:58You can tell she feels so at home on a horse.
25:00You can tell this is something she's grown up with.
25:02And even Katie, you know, can tell you she's got ability.
25:05She was in a bit of a good zone as well,
25:08whereas I was completely out of mind.
25:11Comfort zone.
25:12I've loved you two literally coming along...
25:17Yeah, into your world.
25:19..for the ride.
25:20Thanks for bringing some adventure into my week
25:22that I would never have expected!
25:24If I wasn't on a huge horse, I'd give you a hug.
25:26Do you wish you were in Costa Brava like our great escapers?

26:05Good luck!
26:06The Great Escapers, brought to you by Jet 2 Holidays.
26:23It's Day 2 in the Costa Brava, and the Loose Women Holiday Showdown is hotting up.
26:48Denise Welch is in charge today, and for her final activity,
26:52it's glad rags on for a night on the tomb.
26:56Buenas noches! Buenas noches!
27:00From horse riding to drag is quite a leap.
27:03A sangria. Thank you, Dan.
27:06I'll carry you home.
27:07And I know the kind of girls that they are, that they'd be really up for a lap.
27:11But drag has another layer, a nod to my dad, Vin.
27:16My dad, that we lost in 2021, loved drag.
27:21And eventually started rising up the ranks of the amateur circuit.
27:27I had a dad that pretty much enjoyed every night.
27:29He just loved people.
27:31He loved all of my friends.
27:33He loved my gay friends.
27:35He loved the LGBTQ community, and he loved drag.
27:39This type of night my dad lived for, him and mum went to a party in fancy dress,
27:46and dad wore this mini dress, blonde hair, headband, and mum did his make-up.
27:52And Raquel would appear.
27:55Wow!
27:56And being dad, he got up by the piano, and he did a few gags,
27:59so people started to go, Vin would you come to our party as Raquel?
28:03As Raquel.
28:04How did your mum feel?
28:05My mum loved it.
28:07She'd do the old eye roll, you know, with her gin and bitter lemon.
28:11Oh, here he is.
28:13But if he didn't do it, she'd be the one going,
28:16are you not going to go and put your stuff on?
28:18I just wanted you guys to...
28:20And it takes such a certain confidence to be able to get up and do that.
28:23Your dad must have passed that on to you, which is why you're so good at being able to get up and do your dance.
28:28But the thing is, I am terrified of audience participation.
28:31So are we going to have to get up the front?
28:33Please don't let that be the end of this day,
28:35because it's the end of our friendship if it is, I'm telling you about that.
28:38Tonight, we have got our wonderful drag show, but I need some new drag daughters.
28:46I'm just wondering where I'm going to find three gorgeous drag daughters.
28:56Oh, my goodness!
28:58Oh, an applause.
29:01Oh, come on, my dear.
29:03Let's give them some encouragement.
29:05Talk about pushing me out my comfort zone.
29:08It was a bit like when I had a gun to my head and I was like,
29:10I'll do it, I'll do it, I promise, don't kill me.
29:13I had no time to decide that I wasn't up for it.
29:17I just took a big slur for sangria and then suddenly we were just on stage.
29:21Go for it!
29:24You'd have to be pretty miserable to not love a night at a good drag bar.
29:28I'm not sure I would be like hand in the air volunteering,
29:31but I feel like, I like having a laugh.
29:33I try not to take myself too seriously.
29:35It was like an ad break in these women, to be honest.
29:38We're going to do the confidence catwalk.
29:43Our lovely audience tonight are going to cheer us on
29:47because it's about having fun, enjoyment.
29:50You're feeling good?
29:51Yes.
29:52Yes.
29:53Absolutely fine?
29:54We think so, yeah.
29:55They thought I was taking them out for pasta.
29:57Okay, let's get some music going.
30:02Oh, my God.
30:03I'm an actress for a living.
30:08I had to actually pretend I had a persona.
30:11When literally that moment came for me to have to strut in my head,
30:15I had to click into any character I could find just for the moment.
30:20What has just happened?
30:22I was laughing my socks off at the two of them
30:34because all I could hear was,
30:37just you wait till after this.
30:39We're going to absolutely kill you.
30:45Do you know what?
30:46I hate to say it, but I think Denise has outdone me
30:49because this morning it was really special for me.
30:51And then tonight it was light-hearted.
30:53We lost our inhibitions, you know?
30:55Like, it's just a nice thing.
30:57I mean, Denise Welsh has ruined me.
31:00Any reputation I had before now has gone.
31:03And like the horse riding, I'm not rushing to do it again.
31:07However, it was worth it for the laugh.
31:10A once-in-a-lifetime...
31:12I repeat, once-in-a-lifetime experience.
31:15So, let's do cheers to Vin.
31:18Cheers to Vin!
31:19Cheers to Vin!
31:20And I'm going to do a little cheers to me mum, Annie,
31:23for putting up with him.
31:24Cheers to Annie!
31:25I think my day has been pretty special.
31:30I know that the girls have loved it.
31:32Put it this way, I had a brilliant day yesterday,
31:34and we have Sinatra's to do tomorrow,
31:37so I don't know what she's going to pull out the bag.
31:39But at the moment, I'm feeling quietly confident.
31:43You better walk fast, Denise Welsh, because I am coming for you.
31:53It's Sinatra's turn to host.
31:55And after brushing off all the glitter from last night's drag show,
32:00she's planning a more Zen day.
32:03Today, I'm going to bring us all down in a chilled, end-of-holiday vibe
32:09and give them something they've never tried before.
32:11I want them to go. I loved it.
32:13And hopefully, I might just win.
32:16Sinatra!
32:17Hi, you!
32:18How are you?
32:19Nice to see you.
32:20Likewise.
32:21So looking forward to your health.
32:22Good, good.
32:23I believe you're the man who can.
32:24Apparently so.
32:25My thing, right, which is, like,
32:27I'm really interested in self-care, wellness,
32:30like, stuff that's unusual, just off the beaten track.
32:34This is what she has told us to wear.
32:36Yeah, so I got the memo of, like, loose, comfortable, active wear.
32:40Loose, comfortable, well, yeah, but, you know,
32:42you are loose and comfortably active much more than me.
32:46Sinatra is more in my camp.
32:48What's she into, then?
32:49Like, cos you know her outside of work.
32:50She's quite sort of Zen-ish.
32:53I do actually know a place that does, you know,
32:55the sound baths and that sort of thing.
32:56OK.
32:57They also do something called aerial yoga,
32:59which I'm sure you've probably heard of.
33:01I believe it is quite easy to get the hang...
33:03Well, pardon the pun, to get the hang of
33:05when she's actually in it there.
33:07But, yeah.
33:08I think that could be a real left-field surprise.
33:11Perfect.
33:12So that's the morning.
33:13So then, I'm really into my food.
33:15What I've found is a chef called Yolanda.
33:17OK.
33:18And she runs this beautiful estate
33:20where she has, like, a floral garden with all these flowers.
33:25Everything in her garden you can eat.
33:27Wow.
33:28Now, I don't quite know what we can do within that garden,
33:30but I wondered if we could have a floral feast.
33:33A floral feast?
33:34That sounds absolutely fantastic.
33:35It's a total order.
33:36Yeah.
33:37That is one definitely you need to leave with me.
33:39Actually, she hasn't given us many clues.
33:41She's been very tight-lipped.
33:42She might just pull something amazing out of the bag.
33:46Sinatra's kicking off her day in Lorette de Mar,
33:49a popular spot famous for its golden beaches.
33:52But the ladies won't need a bucket and spade for where they're going.
33:56Ooh!
33:57You all right?
33:58I walk with me house-riding legs.
34:00Oh, don't even talk to me about...
34:02Nothing.
34:03I think I might be able to help you with it.
34:05Let's see.
34:06Oh.
34:07You see a sign?
34:08What does that sign say?
34:09Yoga Shala.
34:10Serial Yeager.
34:11This is cool.
34:12For me, self-care has become really important.
34:15Just as I was approaching 50, I just felt this sort of ticking clock going,
34:19you need to look after yourself more.
34:21I've never done it before, so I wanted you two to try something I'd never done.
34:25I've done it before.
34:26I fell upside down.
34:27Oh, you're kidding.
34:28You have to do it.
34:29I was absolutely rubbish.
34:32Aerial yoga is a mix of acrobatics and traditional yoga,
34:35done inside a hammock.
34:37Hola.
34:38Hola.
34:39Hello.
34:40At least it will distract Denise from her achy legs.
34:43Now we're going to start doing one of the principal poses of the aeroyoga, okay?
34:50Es un poco difícil. Este duele un poquito los pies, pero vamos a probar.
34:54It's a little bit hard, but you can put your feet here.
34:58Yes.
34:59Oh!
35:00Okay.
35:01Y ahora podemos el otro aquí.
35:02Yeah!
35:04Exactly.
35:05Well done.
35:06Well done.
35:07I can't put my ankles together either.
35:09I knew all my nananus is going to come out now.
35:14It's strong.
35:15Yeah.
35:16Well, yeah.
35:17That's good, Katie.
35:18Are you comfy like that?
35:20It's like meditation vibes.
35:22I was excited to try it again to see if I was any better.
35:25Can I just sit on it like a swing at the park?
35:28Yes.
35:29I just want to sit.
35:30Swing.
35:31Swing.
35:32And the answer is a resounding no.
35:34Oh, my God.
35:35This is ridiculous.
35:36Okay.
35:37Do you feel uncomfortable?
35:38Okay.
35:39Well done, girls.
35:40I'll just watch and guide for a minute.
35:44Yes.
35:45Very good core.
35:46Katie.
35:47Very good glutes.
35:48Yep.
35:49All good.
35:50And relax on this.
35:51What about my hands?
35:52Oh, yes.
35:53Hands on.
35:54Muy bien.
35:55Si.
35:56Bien.
35:57Oh, that feels great.
35:58Very flattering on your bum.
35:59Is it really?
36:00I'm sure it looks fabulous.
36:01When was the last time any of us went on a swing?
36:03Really, apart from when you were a kid, you haven't got the licence to do that.
36:07And tiki-tiki-tiki.
36:08Tiki-tiki-tiki.
36:09Tiki-tiki-tiki.
36:12I feel like we've just given ourselves permission to be children again for a moment.
36:26This is my out-of-office pose.
36:29The floating feeling from the hammock is meant to decompress the spine and hips for a proper
36:35chill-out.
36:36We're going to stay cocooned in our little wraps.
36:40Especially when teamed with a sound bath, where the vibrations give a real zen experience.
36:45Do you find it easy to relax in your sort of everyday life, Sinatra?
36:49Self-care is so part of my life now that I make space to go, I'm going to have a massage
36:56now and I'm going to switch off, or I'm going to have a sound bath.
36:59I make space for watching eight-hour binge sessions of true crime as well, and I can
37:04switch off with that.
37:05Nothing like a good homicide to let you let go of all those worries.
37:11Don't think we've forgotten about you at home because you could also be in with a chance
37:15to win a seven-night holiday to the Costa Brava, courtesy of Jet2 Holidays.
37:20We're also throwing in £5,000 spending money too.
37:24To enter for free, go to the website before 3pm on Friday.
37:29The Great Escapers, brought to you by Jet2 Holidays.
37:30The Great Escapers, brought to you by Jet2 Holidays.
37:36The Great Escapers, brought to you by Jet2 Holidays.
37:43The Great Escapers, brought to you by Jet2 Holidays.
37:49Three loose women favourites are on their holidays in the Costa Brava, competing to be crowned
38:08the Greatest Escaper.
38:10It's day three of the competition, and after a morning of hanging around doing aerial yoga...
38:17Honestly, Den, I'm not joking, you did really well.
38:19Thank you, dear.
38:21Sunetra's brought the ladies to the rural village of Fonteta, a 50-minute drive up the
38:25coast from Tossa de Mar.
38:31Oh, Sunetra, this is pretty, look.
38:34It looks a bit like a French, like, vineyard.
38:37I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
38:43Well, there's herbs, there's vegetables.
38:45Yeah.
38:46Walking through here, it's so clean and it's so fresh.
38:49The second half of my day, which I'm very excited about,
38:52it's all about, like, yummy food that you wouldn't ever find if you didn't know about it.
38:58Wow, I feel like Sunetra's brought us to an oasis of calm,
39:01and I instantly unclenched my jaw, dropped my shoulders.
39:04This is stunning.
39:07Local chef Yolanda Bustos will be cooking them a special meal.
39:11And let's just say, the food's a bit more niche than the ITV canteen.
39:16This wonderful garden is, well, here in Majenerós,
39:19is a place that I grow my own flowers, edible flowers,
39:23and look at these roses that you can eat all the roses.
39:27Wow.
39:28Yes, that's right, edible roses.
39:30But not the chocolate kind.
39:32I am a little bit worried because they've both let it be known
39:36that they don't like fancy food,
39:37they don't like picky little bits of food,
39:39they like a proper sandwich or a proper steak.
39:41And I'm thinking, can I turn them around?
39:45So let's see.
39:46I can eat this.
39:47Yes, you can eat this.
39:48When you cook it, it's like magic.
39:50I'm from a place called Newcastle in the north of England.
39:53Can you put these in a pie?
39:55In a pie?
39:56Yeah.
39:57I'm not, I'm not an adventurous eater.
40:02You know, I'm not a Nouvelle Cuisine flower on the top person.
40:07I'm a Geordie, so I like fish and chips and I like pies.
40:14And look at, look at these flowers.
40:16And this is all edible.
40:18I will show you how to do it.
40:20This is a hummus of eggplant, of aubergine.
40:25Oh, you can smell the aubergine.
40:26And almonds.
40:27Look at this.
40:28Yes, this one.
40:29Take the petals like this, and now eat.
40:32No.
40:34Would you like a bit of garlic in yours?
40:36I'm OK, thanks.
40:37Oh, my word.
40:38And this is only olive oil, almonds, and aubergine eggplant.
40:42Mm-hm.
40:43So nice.
40:44Mm-hm.
40:48Heaven.
40:49Did I enjoy eating the flowers?
40:52No.
40:53Especially because you and Sonetta were like you had a pasty going,
40:56Oh, I'm, I'm, I'm going.
40:59With no pasties in sight.
41:02Sorry, Denise.
41:03We'll be back.
41:04Yeah.
41:05Yolanda has sent off the gang with a list of safe edible flowers to pick.
41:09Is this a dahlia?
41:11No.
41:12Er...
41:13Well, that's a rose, right?
41:15That's a rose.
41:16Those are roses.
41:17The pear...
41:18Oh, is that the courgette?
41:19I am so unnatural in a garden that I have astroturf.
41:24Oh, no.
41:25You're not one of those people.
41:27I've pulled a hole.
41:28Oh, my goodness.
41:29You're hungry.
41:30Is that a weed?
41:31I don't know.
41:32But I found something on the end of it.
41:34The fact that we're going to be able to pick our own flowers and then use it in food is something I never thought I'd do.
41:39We need to have each other's back because I don't want to suddenly drop dead from the wrong flower.
41:43Do you know what's making me laugh so much, yeah?
41:46What's that?
41:47When you think of a loose women girls holiday, you don't imagine them foraging for wild flowers and veg.
41:52It will come as a surprise to them.
41:54How is the harvest?
41:55We don't know what we've got here, Yolanda.
41:57What is this?
41:58This is a dahlia.
41:59Yay!
42:00Yes.
42:01Yes, you're right.
42:02Yes.
42:03Yes, this one.
42:04And this one is also a dahlia.
42:05We've got like a free course meal here.
42:07Next step is go dinner.
42:09Yay!
42:10Amazing.
42:11Go dinner with all the plants and the flowers that we harvest.
42:14Brilliant.
42:15Tell us that twice.
42:16We turned around and we're already gone.
42:20I've tried loads of things today to see what would make them feel like they were switching off.
42:25Because for me, my day maybe has been a little bit more sedate in some ways.
42:29But I think it's really relaxed us and switched our brains off in a way that I hoped that it would.
42:35Oh, here she comes.
42:37Yay!
42:38Oh, wow.
42:39Look at this.
42:40I know this is for the appetizers.
42:43This is the tempura with the flowers that you harvest.
42:46Enjoy your meal, ladies.
42:48Cheers to you.
42:50Thank you so much.
42:52I've already thought about all the people I need to tell about this place.
42:57Because just looking at this strawberry...
42:59No, we don't tell people about this place.
43:01Oh, we keep it to ourselves.
43:03No.
43:04I was very interested to see that Zen side of you.
43:07Because I always think of you as someone who would go,
43:09Oh, I haven't got time for that.
43:10I haven't got...
43:11Because we're not gym bunnies, the pair of us.
43:12Not at all.
43:13So to...
43:14And when you said today, when we were on the aerial swings, you said,
43:16I can't still my body or my mind.
43:19So coming to something like this allows me to be still.
43:22Mmm.
43:23So that was...
43:24That's so true.
43:25It's nice to know that we've had a part in this, though, isn't it?
43:27Are you still craving a pie?
43:29Hey, I'm a Geordie.
43:30I always crave a pie.
43:33Do you know what?
43:34I would like to win because I think this was magical.
43:37It was better than I expected.
43:39I could tell the girls love it.
43:41Of all the Loose women, I would say I know Sinatra the least.
43:45And I think I've seen this real side to her that we don't see as an actress
43:49or we don't see on Loose.
43:51And I suppose this is the private her.
43:53You know, she really tries to make time to sort of stop and be still.
43:58And I suppose what she's done is let us into that self-care part of her world.
44:02And I think I got closer to her.
44:05I kind of felt I had it in the bag last night.
44:08I don't know now.
44:10So to pick a winner is going to be very hard.
44:13But that's why we're here and that's what we've got to do.
44:15So we'll see. Let the best girl win.
44:22It's the final day of the competition.
44:25And after spending the week frolicking their way round the Costa Brava,
44:28there's one loose end for our women to tie up.
44:31Crowning the greatest escaper.
44:35If I won, it would be a nice thing to go back to Loose women and be like,
44:38Hey guys, you're looking at the winner here.
44:41The word win suggests greatness.
44:43So, yeah, you know, who wouldn't want to actually win?
44:46It's the final day.
44:47We're about to make our decision as to who has won.
44:51The pressure is on.
44:55It's decision time.
44:57First of all, Katie, that catamaran gave us all the chance to get to know each other from scratch.
45:02It was the first intro.
45:03Yeah.
45:04We had, you know, I learned so much about you that I didn't know about from before.
45:08And you actually thought not just what you would enjoy, what we would enjoy.
45:13And then with you, that horse riding, it's like the version of you we get at work is your fun.
45:18And maybe I saw a little bit more of a calmer, quieter you even.
45:23Like, imagine if I go back to Loose and tell them about the quiet Denise Welsh.
45:27They'll say how lucky you are.
45:29And then, of course, Sinatra.
45:32I didn't realise until this trip how into wellness and zen you are.
45:36Will I have a Dahlia sandwich again?
45:39Probably not.
45:41But the evening that you organised for us, I mean, that just blew me away.
45:45And I'll be telling people about that forever, I think.
45:49But I think because of the horse riding, I ended up choosing your day as the winner for me.
45:54Thank you. Thank you.
45:56I was swayed by the beautiful evening activity.
46:02But I'm going for Katie.
46:04It was because of the human tower.
46:06The fact that you took us there and gave us an experience of something that was so Spanish, it just tipped it for me.
46:15Which leaves me with the most difficult decision.
46:19One of your days I could do with everyone and enjoy every single day of the week.
46:24Mm-hm.
46:26And one of your activities I could only do with you two.
46:28And so because of that, I'm giving it to you, Denise.
46:32Oh, congratulations.
46:34Thank you so much.
46:36If there's anyone in the UK that I'm happy to lose to, it's Denise Welsh.
46:40Oh!
46:41Winner, winner, chicken dinner.
46:43And I'm not remotely competitive, but yes!
46:46What was important is what the girls said about me.
46:49They bought into the fact that those days meant something to me.
46:53And that was very, very special.
46:55Ultimately, the reason Denise won is because I'd only do that day with Denise and Katie.
47:00So I'm looking forward to us all being on the panel together because I know it'll have a little extra bond there.
47:05We've been in bikinis, we've been sweating in our dresses, we've been chilling in the evenings.
47:10And I suppose we've just let go.
47:12And it's been a joy to get to know both of them better.
47:15It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
47:19.
47:45The Great Escapers, brought to you by Jet 2 Holidays.
