00:02I'm an airline pilot. I actually own an airline consulting business.

00:05I do mostly international work at this point.

00:06You work for yourself?

00:08Yes, I do.

00:08For how long have you worked for yourself?

00:10I've had the consulting business for about seven years,

00:14although I have also, during that time, worked for companies, too.

00:18During the seven years?

00:19During the seven years, yes.

00:20You work for companies full-time?

00:21Some of them, yeah, still did the consulting as a side job.

00:24When was the last time you had a full-time job, Mr. Shufs?

00:27A full-time job would have been December last year.

00:32And who did you work for at that time?

00:34Falcon Air Express, an airline out of Miami.

00:36How long did you work for them?

00:38For the most part, about seven years.

00:39So for the last seven years, up until last December, you had a full-time job?

00:43Correct.

00:43Give me a ballpark range of what you were earning up until December.

00:47About $100,000 a year.

00:48And what happened in December?

00:49The consulting business picked up quite a bit, and I took a contract in Africa.

00:54When did you leave for Africa?

00:55The very end of December, almost January 1st, right at the end of the year.

00:59Where in Africa?

01:00Ghana.

01:01How long did you stay?

01:02I was there on that particular assignment for about a month and a half.

01:05And then?

01:06Mid-February.

01:07And then?

01:07The company that I was working for, that I was doing the consulting for, I had been doing

01:11some consulting previous to that, and they overnight closed the business, walked out,

01:17and didn't pay me or anybody else.

01:19So I came back with no income for the time I had been gone and no job.

01:24And it was at that fortuitous moment that you met Ms. Gallagher.

01:28No, it wasn't.

01:28Actually, we had met about three years ago on a dating site, but we had stayed as friends.

01:33We had communicated a good bit.

01:35At that time, I was still married in the middle of a divorce.

01:38So let me understand this.

01:39You met on a dating site while you were still married?

01:42Yes.

01:43In February, when I came back, we got together.

01:46We spent some time together.

01:47We lived in different parts of the state.

01:49I lived in Miami.

01:50She lived in Sarasota.

01:51So when we would meet, we would normally meet someplace in between.

01:57We would, Naples, we would sometimes meet in.

02:00There were a couple times that she actually came over to the Fort Lauderdale area and spent

02:06time there.

02:07She spent a couple times there.

02:08One time, she came to Orlando, and we met in Orlando.

02:13So as of February, which is when you came back with no job and no income, that was about

02:19the time when you were no longer friends with Ms. Gallagher.

02:22You developed more of a romantic relationship with her.

02:26Yes.

02:26I had been out of the country.

02:27Now, at what point did Ms. Gallagher transfer money from her bank account into yours?

02:34I believe it was in March, if I remember correctly.

02:37March of 2014.

02:40Now, I'd like you to tell me the circumstances surrounding her transferring, because these
