Cumnock co-op expands with cafe set to open soon

Funded by the community, and through grants from mining corporation Newmont, the co-op cafe will be a meeting place for the small central west community.

00:00This is the old hardware section of the Commonwealth Store.

00:03It's been converted into a new virtual bedroom kitchen

00:06using virtual benches back from the Black Store back in the 1900s

00:11to bring around either that wrench yet.

00:14It's become a cafe, ultimately,

00:16but the next stage here will be incorporating

00:19the serving store, post office, liquor store,

00:22and the cafe will be ready to make part of the building.

00:25A lot of that sector and the whole community effort

00:28is a very supportive community

00:30who is a really good project manager.

00:33We're putting it all together,

00:35and I'm happy to open it in sort of early part

00:38of the next year, January, February.
