00:12:55İngiltere
00:13:25The teachers thought he was just nuts.
00:13:29I'm Dr. Matthews.
00:13:30At one time I was a psychiatrist for the Jackson County Public School System.
00:13:35Barron Dixon was referred to me by Mrs. Bailey, an English teacher at the time.
00:13:42Barron had written a paper in which he wished that aliens would come and remove him from the classroom
00:13:48so that he could prove to his peers that the stories he had told them in the past were true.
00:13:55I began meeting with Barron twice a week, and we talked a great deal about aliens and his wish to disappear.
00:14:09Barron had convinced himself that one day, a date he was not certain of,
00:14:15he would be picked up by a traveling spacecraft and taken to another planet.
00:14:19On this planet, he would be what he referred to as the captain of the workers, or the laborers of that planet.
00:14:30A rather common fantasy, actually.
00:14:33Did he ever talk to you about taking other people to another planet as well?
00:14:39I'm not at liberty to talk to you about anything that his mother did not already make public
00:14:45by publishing his now famous summer vacation report.
00:14:51The school psychiatrist told me that Barron needed a lot of attention.
00:14:57He didn't trust the real world because of all the lies his father had told him.
00:15:02His father was a traveling salesman.
00:15:07See, Barron had caught his father in a motel room with another woman.
00:15:14And it wasn't his mom.
00:15:15It wasn't his mom.
00:15:18And it was shortly after that, he went down to find out who his real parents were.
00:15:24So he went down to the adoption agency and tried to look up the records and everything.
00:15:31And they couldn't find any records on him.
00:15:34And according to their offices, Barron never, ever even really existed.
00:15:40So no one knows where Barron came from?
00:15:44Nobody.
00:15:44It is true that Barron was adopted.
00:15:53And it's true that the agency didn't have any record of his existence.
00:15:58We tried to have a baby.
00:16:01But Barron's dad's sperm was crooked.
00:16:06Its tail was bent.
00:16:08And it would just swim in circles.
00:16:11It'd never go to the egg.
00:16:12Well, he'd gone down to that motel because his dad was traveling, you know, sales.
00:16:33Barron didn't get to see his father very much.
00:16:36Well, and the thing was that his dad, it was a surprise visit.
00:16:40And his dad didn't know that he was coming down there.
00:16:44Barron had just gotten his driver's license.
00:16:47And he decided to drive up to the city to surprise his dad.
00:16:51And Barron just walks in the room and there was his dad.
00:16:55And there was this naked woman bouncing around in the hotel bed.
00:16:59And it wasn't his mom.
00:17:00And it wasn't his mom.
00:17:02He told Barron that the woman in the room had locked herself out of her room.
00:17:09And he was just letting her use his.
00:17:12All right, I got the sound rolling.
00:17:14You got it?
00:17:14You got everything else rolling?
00:17:15Start rolling?
00:17:16It's going.
00:17:16Yeah, yeah, you got to roll on this.
00:17:18Okay.
00:17:18I'll start with everybody.
00:17:20Okay, good.
00:17:20I'm out six then, right?
00:17:35Yeah.
00:17:36Okay.
00:17:36Found the place, yeah?
00:17:37Yeah, we found it.
00:17:38I'm Brian Flackard.
00:17:40I'm the production manager.
00:17:42This is Susie Fox.
00:17:43She's the production assistant.
00:17:45Ryan Ferguson on sound.
00:17:47He's our sound man.
00:17:48Behind the cameras, Jeff Cochran.
00:17:49Hey.
00:17:49How you doing?
00:17:50Good to be here.
00:17:51Here, let me get this water off.
00:17:53Okay.
00:17:54I'm just hosing the dog down.
00:17:55Oh, that's good.
00:17:57Nobody want to shut the water off?
00:18:01And, uh...
00:18:03You found the place, huh?
00:18:05We found it.
00:18:06And, uh, it's nice to meet you.
00:18:08Very nice to meet you.
00:18:09Well, where do you want to do this?
00:18:11You can, uh, do it inside.
00:18:13Uh, out here.
00:18:14Probably inside.
00:18:15How about in the kitchen?
00:18:16Keep it cool.
00:18:17Yeah.
00:18:17Okay.
00:18:17Come on in.
00:18:18Come on up.
00:18:19Put my bathroom on the table, right?
00:18:22All right.
00:18:22You kids behave.
00:18:23Dad's getting an interview today.
00:18:25Hiya, my darling.
00:18:30Go ahead and, uh, tell me your name.
00:18:32Yeah, my name is Daniel Edgar Dixon.
00:18:35But, uh, nobody calls me that.
00:18:37They call me Muff.
00:18:38Muff?
00:18:39Yeah.
00:18:40Muff.
00:18:40M-U-F-F.
00:18:42I'm Barron's dad.
00:18:43Barron was very upset when he found out that his father had been unfaithful to me.
00:18:51He had very little to do with his father after that.
00:18:54Well, I'm sure you've been told about Barron's imagination.
00:18:58Boy gets a thought in his mind.
00:19:00There's no changing it.
00:19:01Hi, child.
00:19:02I was up in Kingman, Arizona in a hotel.
00:19:06Hotel room on a road trip.
00:19:09Barron surprised me one day by knocking on the door.
00:19:11I let him in, and just as he came in, uh, a lady come walking out of the shower.
00:19:18She said, uh, she lived a couple rooms down.
00:19:20Her shower wasn't working, so me being a nice guy, I said, come on and take a shower here.
00:19:27Well, Barron took one look at her and one look at me, and I don't know what he was thinking.
00:19:36Barron couldn't believe his father lied to him like that.
00:19:40And he asked me, what else has his father been lying to him about?
00:19:47Yeah, I remember I used to tell Barron's stories about how Japanese cars are made, what the moon is made of,
00:19:54and who lives on the big house on the hill, and, oh, that boy was never short of questions.
00:20:01He wanted to know about everything and everybody.
00:20:06He was a smart kid.
00:20:08I never had to explain things to him more than once, and many things he seemed to already know.
00:20:14Yeah, I loved Barron, uh, a lot.
00:20:18He was my boy.
00:20:20Yeah, we did quite a bit together.
00:20:22I wish we could have done more, but, uh, I think he was a mama's boy.
00:20:26He was a big fucking liar.
00:20:34He talked, yeah, always making shit up.
00:20:36Always lying.
00:20:37Always getting shit out of his ass.
00:20:38Fuck, it didn't even matter.
00:20:40He brought in these paintings.
00:20:42I remember, remember that time he had the paintings?
00:20:44He told me, I want those paintings, they all, because he said one day, I'm going to quit.
00:20:47He goes, I'm going to come in to work, I'm going to quit, he's trying to make my paintings.
00:20:51What, who's trying to say is Barron came and he said, when he, he's going to quit and paint these paintings of spaceships,
00:20:57because he has this art dealer gallery guy that's going to sell these paintings of spaceships of these fucking pictures that he did.
00:21:03And they were fucking stupor, he got me out of retard, dude.
00:21:06Retard did him.
00:21:07Hello, I'm Richard Stoneman.
00:21:09I'm Barron Dickson's art dealer.
00:21:14Barron came into my gallery in 1992.
00:21:18He had six paintings.
00:21:21They were very simple, very childlike paintings of spaceships.
00:21:25They were done in very bright colors, very playful.
00:21:29These three were on loan from clients.
00:21:31As you can see, they're very fun, playful paintings, childlike, very childlike.
00:21:39One might even say disturbingly childlike.
00:22:01Hi, I'm Erastasenevi.
00:22:07This is my home.
00:22:08As you see, I'm a collector of modern art.
00:22:11This piece is TIA, that's Trans Interdimensional Airwave Service.
00:22:29They started out as Trans International Airlines, but through the technology managed to come out
00:22:36with this wonderful spaceship type lamp.
00:22:40It actually goes, it's interdimensional, it travels.
00:22:43You see, you charge it up like that, and when you get enough of a charge, it takes off.
00:22:50This is my spaceship to honor that piece.
00:22:54It's called We Come in Peace.
00:22:56And of course, when the aliens do come, you just know they're not going to come in peace.
00:22:59They're going to come loaded with guns and weapons, and they're going to annihilate us all.
00:23:04But such is life.
00:23:06I liked the paintings, and I felt good about them.
00:23:11I told him I would show his paintings in my gallery.
00:23:18The gallery, Richard Stoneman, of the Richard Stoneman Gallery, he was selling me a line
00:23:25of crap when he sold me the piece.
00:23:27I saw it, I fell in love with it.
00:23:30It's so modern, it's like a throwback to the modern art of the 60s, with all its super serious
00:23:40hoity-toity-ness, you know.
00:23:43I had to have it, it was hilarious.
00:23:45My friends all love it.
00:23:47You know, I have parties, and people come, and they gather around the painting, and they
00:23:51ignore me.
00:23:52They ignore everything else in the room, and believe me, I have some lovely things here.
00:23:57People are just drawn to this painting, it's magical.
00:24:00I feel blessed to have had the wisdom to acquire it.
00:24:05That's what primarily it does for me, it moves me, it makes me giggle, I sit, I admire it.
00:24:12The little puppy flying up to his mommy, or daddy, or whatever the creature is up there,
00:24:16it's hard to tell.
00:24:19I guess it's a sexless being.
00:24:26I did not see Baron for about a year after he brought in the spaceship paintings.
00:24:34When he did come back, he brought in these rather large paintings that were so disturbing
00:24:42and violent that I was tempted to call the police.
00:24:47They were the most gruesome paintings I had ever seen.
00:24:51This is my bedroom.
00:24:52This is where I live.
00:24:53This is where I live.
00:24:58Baron gave me this painting because a lot of them he couldn't sell.
00:25:05But um...
00:25:06I like this one the best cause I...

00:26:53Baran requires a great deal of attention.
00:26:55And one way people get attention is by running away or staging their disappearance.
00:27:02Baran was able to disappear and validate his entire life and get the attention that he needs.
00:27:09He got his name in the paper, his picture in the news, a documentary.
00:27:15This is the journey.
00:27:19This one over here is the adventure.
00:27:23And this last one is the day the aliens came and took me to another planet.
00:27:28Baran was pretty upset when he couldn't make a living as an artist.
00:27:52He didn't like work.
00:27:57It was too much like school.
00:27:59People kept picking on him.
00:28:01Cherry boy had a red face, a big guy had a red face and a big bro.
00:28:05He was lazy.
00:28:06You couldn't even do a fucking thing around here.
00:28:08He was a little space bitch.
00:28:09I couldn't believe it last of a year.
00:28:10He used to call him E.T.
00:28:11He used to call him E.T. remember?
00:28:13Yeah.
00:28:13Hey E.T.
00:28:14E.T. phone home motherfucker.
00:28:16I was like, where's your fucking spaceship?
00:28:18Hey, bitch boy, where's your spaceship?
00:28:20This is Baran's dog.
00:28:23Her name is Bobo.
00:28:25Baran got her when he was, oh, 28, 29, maybe 30.
00:28:32She was a little tiny thing.
00:28:35No bigger than a shoe.
00:28:39He was fucking dink.
00:28:41He was the king of the homeless, red face, big bro, stinky fish looking space.
00:28:46She had to work with him all the time.
00:28:50Baran used to get down and hug her.
00:28:53And he'd say, you're the only friend I've got, aren't you, Bobo?
00:28:57And she'd lick his face.
00:29:03Remember that fish that we rocked?
00:29:04That big fish was this big.
00:29:06It was a big ass, about a sea bass.
00:29:09It was pretty big.
00:29:10Well, it was like that.
00:29:12I used to take that fish and I'd just take that fish and I'd just slap him right in the top of the head.
00:29:16Man, he didn't care.
00:29:17He didn't care.
00:29:18He had juices in his hair and everything.
00:29:20He didn't care.
00:29:22Bobo gets up with me in the morning and then I give her breakfast and then let her out.
00:29:29And she goes out to the end of the driveway and lays there all day looking up at the sky.
00:29:36It's as though she's waiting for Baran to come back home.
00:29:40to the end of the К 22nd.
00:29:45So I think I'm able to by the end of the living room and see where he's with him.
00:29:53And I'll see you on Friday.

00:32:17It was like a game. It was fun.
00:32:20Oh, and then we had this great spaceship that he made in his backyard, and he made it out of cardboard and 1x2s, and we'd mess around in that all night long and camp, look at the stars, and it was just like a clubhouse.
00:32:34And we'd sit around eating Twinkies and drinking wine coolers all night. It was great. It was just like a clubhouse.
00:32:48This is the spaceship Kathy in Barenville. He used to do a lot of them as a kid, out of refrigerator boxes.

00:51:05Do you feel that Baran was taken away by aliens?
00:51:11No, I do not.
00:51:13Why don't you believe that?
00:51:15Because they, they being any aliens, like to work with humans who are cooperative and peaceful.
00:51:22And Baran, Baran was just stubborn and rude.
00:51:26Tell us your name and what a day did you do?
00:51:49My name is Nate Lund.
00:51:51I maintain a few websites.
00:51:53NateLund.com is a site for my own artwork.
00:51:59RagnarokStudio.com is public 3D artwork, tutorials, etc.
00:52:05And then BaranDixon.com.
00:52:08Tell us about the BaranDixon website.
00:52:10Um, it's a site all about my cousin Baran, who disappeared somewhere.
00:52:16Do you think he was taken to another planet?
00:52:19No, no, no, I know you were going to ask that, but no.
00:52:24There's about 20 people or so that check into the message boards pretty much every day, not twice a day.
00:52:29Uh, they post messages about where they think he might be.
00:52:33They talk about him.
00:52:34Take it way too seriously.
00:52:40So, do you believe in aliens?
00:52:43I know there's aliens.
00:52:45They took Baran.
00:52:48Another thing I do with the website is, well, people can report sightings of Baran.
00:52:54Most of the sightings are along Interstate 25 and 40, and then there's a few in Winnom, Minnesota and Fort Wayne, Indiana.
00:53:05We got relatives in both places.
00:53:10Most of the people I come in contact with think he was abducted, and they're all a little bit like him.
00:53:19So, you believe that you're going to go to the new planet?
00:53:24Why else would I be doing all this?
00:53:28What else do you do with the website?
00:53:30Um, that's the only one I make money with, because I sell t-shirts to help keep it going.
00:53:37This one here.
00:53:38It says, where in the galaxy is Baran Dixon?
00:53:40Even though I don't believe he's out there, everybody else does, and this is what sells, so.
00:53:46It keeps people coming.
00:53:48The photo I got is from a birthday party for my brother.
00:53:51I also sell individual photos.
00:53:58Ah, now here's one guy, uh, claiming that he knows Baran Dixon's on the, uh, the third moon of Pluton.
00:54:07Did you enjoy being around Baran?
00:54:22No, no.
00:54:24Why not?
00:54:25It was creepy, actually.
00:54:27What was creepy about him?
00:54:29Well, he always had this thing where he'd want me to give him a piggyback ride.
00:54:33It was like a big hello.
00:54:35I don't know.
00:54:36I don't like that.
00:54:39How did I meet Baran?
00:54:41Well, when I joined the engineering faculty here, and, uh, that's a while ago now, uh, I was a model rocket, uh, fanatic.
00:54:50Uh, I love the, the whole process of, uh, designing rockets, uh, gluing them together, uh, late at night, and, uh, then the, uh, next morning going out on the range, uh, slamming home a big engine, and, whoosh, bang!
00:55:05I love that.
00:55:07So, I wanted to turn over people onto it, uh, and I volunteered to teach a class at the, uh, Y, and, uh, that's where I met, uh, young, uh, young Baran, uh, he, uh, he impressed me, uh, from the start.
00:55:20Uh, his, uh, smart kid, curious kid, uh, we learned, uh, a lot, uh, together, uh, uh, uh, we designed, uh, some, uh, big rockets, and, uh, we shot them off.
00:55:31It was great fun.
00:55:32Do you believe that, uh, aliens may have taken him to another planet, then, or?
00:55:40Well, aliens, I mean, to, to believe that, you've got to believe in, in aliens, and I'm a scientist, uh, I don't believe in aliens, uh, uh, I don't believe that, uh, there are, uh, uh, you know, little green, or gray, or purple fellows, uh, uh, swooping around in a spacecraft, uh, grabbing people, uh, taking them up for medical experiments, or,
00:56:02for travel to other planets, or, uh, whatever, I, you know, what hard evidence is very bad.
00:56:07No, I, I don't, I don't believe that.
00:56:09Then, uh, do you believe that he may have staged his disappearance, then?
00:56:13Well, like I said, I don't believe in aliens, but, there are facts, a couple of facts, about his disappearance that I've thought a lot about, and that, uh, that troubled me.
00:56:28First, uh, first, his dog. Uh, he loved his dog, and he, he loved his dog, I mean, he really loved his dog. Uh, it just didn't seem to me to be like him, just to abandon his dog.
00:56:42I mean, if he'd wanted to stage his disappearance, I mean, to start a, a new life, uh, uh, why didn't he just stage the abduction of his dog?
00:56:50I mean, aliens are, uh, uh, uh, supposed to, uh, uh, swoop down and, uh, abduct cattle, right? Uh, uh, uh, so why not, uh, why not a dog?
00:57:00I mean, it would have seemed credible. Uh, the second thing is his car. Uh, his car was found, uh, in, you know, in the middle of nowhere,
00:57:0930 miles from the nearest bus stop. Uh, if he staged his abduction, he left himself an awful long walk.
00:57:16Uh, you know, why wouldn't he have just, uh, uh, uh, staged an abduction from, uh, a vacant lot, or from behind a restaurant? Uh, uh, would have been far more convenient.
00:57:28So, there are a couple facts that trouble me about, uh, his, uh, disappearance. It seemed strange to me, but, you know, um, I, I'm not saying he was abducted by aliens.
00:57:41It just bothered me.
00:57:42Do you think that, uh, Randy and Ed may have had something to do with his disappearance, or helped him with his disappearance?
00:57:50Randy and Ed. Randy and Ed. They're such burnouts. I mean, I doubt that those guys could have concocted a story and a scheme that was coherent enough, uh, to fool the police.
00:58:02I mean, they would have broken down. They would have gotten confused under interrogation. I mean, those guys, I mean, between their interest in explosives and recreational chemicals, I mean, they've burnt so many brain cells, I doubt they could get it together to help out, uh, Barrett.
00:58:18Well, we got it all set here now.
00:58:23Five fish burritos?
00:58:25No, actually, that's, uh, two bean burritos.
00:58:28Two, two fish burritos.
00:58:31And a pint of beans.
00:58:33And a pint of beans. That's all we need.
00:58:36Two fish burritos instead of beans.
00:58:38That's good.
00:58:39Thank you, pal.
00:58:39Excellent, amigo.
00:58:40Thank you.
00:58:48This is Barrett's apartment.
00:59:00My sister has several rentals in the area, so she's letting me keep the apartment so that when he, if he comes back, he'll have his own stuff and his own place.
00:59:14I kept everything just the way it was.
00:59:26Barrett was a big fan of Ronald Reagan and Jimmy Carter.
00:59:30He felt that they were about to announce alien contact.
00:59:33But, he kept records, and Ronald Reagan made five separate speeches referring to aliens.
00:59:45Jimmy Carter made three.
00:59:49I think Barrett felt that if they made reference to alien contact, people would accept him more.
00:59:58and maybe not be so mean to him.
01:00:06Uh, do you mind if we take a look around the place? Would that be alright?
01:00:10No, I don't mind. Not at all.
01:00:12Okay.
01:00:13Um, you go right ahead.
01:00:15It makes me a little sad being in here.
01:00:18Uh-oh.
01:00:18If you don't mind, I'm going outside.
01:00:21Just take your time.
01:00:22Oh, thank you.
01:00:23Thank you.
01:00:28Thank you.
01:00:58Thank you.
01:01:28Thank you.
