00:06In the cathedrals of Caen, 124 victims of Spanish Civil War anti-Catholic persecution

00:11were honored as martyrs of the faith.

00:14They included priests and laypeople who choose to stay with their communities despite death

00:18threats.

00:19At Notre Dame in Paris, 50 French Catholics killed in Nazi concentration camps were also

00:23beatified.

00:25Many were young workers providing Calendestine spiritual support to forced laborers under

00:30the mission St. Paul.

00:32Church leaders say their example shows that forgiveness, courage and quiet resistance outlasts

00:37the regimes built on hatred.
