00:00We are in Bonas and Windermere and it is situated right in the heart of the Lake
00:05District and it has just secured the number one spot of the most festive town
00:09or city in the UK. The town on average gets 84 millimeters of snow every
00:15December as well as an average temperature of four degrees. It's also
00:18home to 14 local cafes and coffee shops making it a lovely place to snuggle up
00:23in the winter. But is it the most festive town? Let's go and have a look.
00:28We as a town council start thinking about Christmas round about June, July and
00:35contacting various local groups, community groups, to ask what ideas they
00:44have for Christmas celebrations. Everybody goes above and beyond. We all try
00:48our hardest to make Bonas a beautiful place to come for Christmas. Amongst the
00:52various traditions including cold water swimming on Christmas Day and trips to
00:57Santa's Grotto on the water their annual festive window display is taken
01:01particularly seriously. Everyone that comes here is generally really happy and
01:05really positive and embraces the Christmas traditions that Bonas has. I was lucky
01:10enough to win last year which is lovely but it's just nice to get a bit of
01:13recognition from the town council and just generally all the customers and
01:17people in Bonas because when you make a little bit of effort it's nice to get a
01:20little bit of effort. People take a great deal of sort of pride doing their shop
01:25fronts up and making it a bit Christmassy. People tend to agree that the wintry
01:30backdrop of the lakes and the mountains adds a magical charm to the town. One
01:34thing that's unique about Bonas is our situation on the lake shore and it's
01:41quite magical to see the lights reflected in the lake and then to look beyond and
01:46see the mountains in the distance so it's everybody who comes to see those is
01:52assured of a warm warm welcoming. The mountains make such a dramatic backdrop so
01:57it's yeah it's really nice really picturesque just just a beautiful place to
02:01be really. It's a magical places in the lake district there's nothing nothing
02:04like it in the in the UK so I think it's the best place to be especially at
02:08Christmas. A recent YouGov poll shows that 56% of adults in the UK are not
02:13feeling very Christmassy at all. Could a visit to Bowness cure this? Or what about
02:18somewhere else? What is the most festive place that you know?
