Alicia Keys, Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, Demi Lovato, BTS, Lil Nas X, Rosalia, Camila Cabello, and more make our Grammys 2020 recap.
Transcript
00:00The 2020 Grammys were filled with a ton of wins and even more emotions.
00:05So let's break down music's biggest tonight.
00:09Hey guys, it's Ali for Hollywood Life with your Grammys 2020 Roundup,
00:13starting with Alicia Keys because she did an incredible job hosting.
00:17Just hours before the Grammys started, basketball legend Colby Bryant and his daughter were killed in a helicopter crash.
00:23The news echoed around the world but had the biggest impact in L.A. at the Staples Center where the event was held.
00:29The stadium was basically Colby's second home.
00:31After Lizzo's amazing opening number, Alicia Keys gave an emotional speech about Colby, his daughter,
00:36and the families that perished in the tragic accident.
00:39She did a beautiful tribute with Boyz II Men,
00:41which ended with a spotlight shining on Colby's retired jerseys up in the rafters.
00:45From Rosalia, Tyler the Creator, Gary Clark Jr., Billie Eilish, and more,
00:49all the performances last night were incredible.
00:52However, there did seem to be someone missing during Lil Nas X's all-star remix of Old Town Road.
00:56The artist had an incredible set piece where he ventured through different rooms reminding everyone about all the collaborators
01:02that helped Old Town Road break all types of records.
01:05Artists like BTS, Mason Ramsey, Diplo, and of course Billy Ray Cyrus joined, but Young Thug was absent.
01:11Considering they had a whole stage covered in slime, it seems like he might have pulled out last minute.
01:16While Jeffrey was a no-show, Lil Nas surprised everyone by bringing out the OG Nas for a remix of his other hit track, Rodeo.
01:22But alright, to the performances that made me cry last night, featuring Camila Cabello, Ariana Grande, and Demi Lovato.
01:29Camila performed First Man, a song dedicated to her father, reassuring him that her boyfriend, a.k.a. Shawn Mendes, is a good man.
01:36She then hugged her teary-eyed dad at the very end.
01:38The father-daughter song really struck a chord last night with many thinking about Colby and his daughters.
01:43Ariana Grande also had an emotional performance singing a medley of songs like Imagine, Seven Rings, and Thank You, Next.
01:50The two particular moments that stood out was when Ari nearly broke into tears at the start of Thank You, Next,
01:55and when she put what looked like an engagement ring back into a box at the very end of the song.
02:00Some fans think she might have shaded Pete Davidson, but personally, I don't think that was the case.
02:04But okay, two possibly my favorite moments of the night.
02:07Demi Lovato made her big comeback last night singing a new song called Anyone.
02:11The song she worked on days before her overdose in 2018.
02:14The lyrics were raw, the emotions were real, and it reminds you of the journey she's gone through and how strong she really is.
02:21To someone's opinion, we can rely on Selena Gomez.
02:23She tuned in last night and reacted to Demi's performance, saying,
02:27I wish there were words to describe how beautiful, inspirational, and deserved this moment was.
02:32Demi, I'm so happy for you.
02:33Thank you for your courage and bravery.
02:35Now to the wins.
02:36Lil Nas got some hardware for Best Pop Duo Group Performance.
02:39Tyler won for Best Rap Album, although he was a little disappointed his project wasn't considered for the pop genre.
02:45His speech about it after the win was pretty good.
02:47I recommend watching it later.
02:49DJ Khaled didn't seem too pissed with Tyler's win after he earned Best Rap Sung Performance for Hire,
02:55which features John Legend and the late Nipsey Hussle.
02:58Nipsey's tribute performance was also powerful, by the way.
03:01Now to the biggest winner, Billie Eilish.
03:03The 18-year-old won Best Pop Vocal Album, Best New Artist, Album of the Year, Record of the Year, and Song of the Year.
03:10That's a lot of Grammys.
03:12During her speech for Album of the Year, she made it clear that she thought Ariana Grande deserved it over her.
03:16But Ariana, being Ariana, simply waved for Billie to continue her speech and enjoy the moment like a true queen.
03:22Despite how fans feel about the snubs, there's a lot of love between these artists,
03:25and they are just happy to see each other be celebrated.
03:28Although I do think that Ariana did deserve a Grammy.
03:30But alright guys, hit the sub, like, and bell button.
03:32Let us know your favorite moment from last night,
03:34and don't forget to follow me on social media at Allie Stegnita.
03:36Bye guys.
