00:00Hello! Welcome back to the channel. My name is Viaggio Dileo, a colorist and stylist here in Lima, Peru.
00:06In this particular video we're going to talk about a coloration that is assumed, hallucinated, and treated
00:12Because it gives us color with shine, protects our hair, respects the hair strand and above all revitalizes the color.
00:21We're talking about Shade CQ. For those who don't know it or have only seen it on social media from colorists or influencers...
00:27They talk about Shade, Shade, Shade and have no idea what it is, here I'll tell you how it works.
00:34This particular video is dedicated to Nia, to Estefanía Espinosa Robles, who is my friend.
00:40And you always have questions about how to work with Shade. So this video is designed entirely for you.
00:48And I hope it resonates with you and helps you a lot. Let's start the video now.
00:53Shade CQ is a hair color that was initially created by an actress, before it belonged to the L'Oreal group.
01:06in Hollywood with her colorist, since this actress had many problems with sensitive skin and allergies.
01:14and she couldn't stand getting the old-fashioned hair dyes because of the results they produced on her skin.
01:21Through research and treatments, they achieved a formula that would give it color and respect the skin.
01:30It had no contraindications.
01:33That's why this coloring is so famous, because it gives you color, but it's very gentle on your skin.
01:39It can even be used on the skin of pregnant women.
01:43There is no contraindication on that side.
01:46It is a coloring that, while it is indeed a demi-permanent, since it does not have a lightening power,
01:53It deposits color, working by carrying it through the pH system; just as there are alkaline pH levels, there are acidic pH levels.
02:02As colorists, we know that anything acidic closes the cuticle.
02:09Therefore, this coloring, being an acidic coloring, gives us much more shine,
02:16It respects and conditions the hair strand.
02:20That's why it's usually said that the shade acts as a conditioner.
02:25Redken's Shazey Q offers coloring with twice the shine of traditional coloring.
02:33It has a liquid texture, which makes it very easy to apply, as the product flows easily; it is not a dense product.
02:42It is normally used to revitalize a color, to correct a color, or to give toners or color baths.
02:52And it can help us reduce or tone gray hair by up to 50%.
02:59Shazey Q's way of working and mixing is very easy.
03:04Its mixing formula is in a 1 plus 1 ratio.
03:08That is, if I have a 20 milligram formula, I will add 20 ml of processing solution,
03:17which is its developer, 1 plus 1 in equal amounts, to be able to have my exact mixture.
03:23The processing time for the shade CQ to be exposed or worked on will be 20 minutes from when the product was applied.
03:32The correct way to apply and work the shade is on clean hair.
03:36Ideally, we should wash our hair with a deep cleansing shampoo and dry it to 80%, as dry as possible.
03:47You can use a towel, you can use a hairdryer, but it should be about 80% dry, and then you can apply the product.
03:53Because the cuticles are open, it will allow the color to penetrate better.
03:59Shade CQ, speaking of acidity or alkalinity levels, when we say that it is an acidic value,
04:09To be more precise, it has a pH level of 6.8 on the acidity scale,
04:16Therefore, it is true, it closes the cuticle, adds shine, and thus acts as a conditioner.
04:23This is how Shade is presented; it comes in these little bottles or jars containing,
04:33I'm going to try to zoom in so you can see it, 60 ml, each color, each shade, each tone contains 60 ml.
04:42This is the usual presentation, where obviously it will change due to the reflection.
04:48Its level of lightening, I repeat, is a demi-permanent coloring, its level of lightening is zero.
04:55It has no bleaching level, it has no lightening power.
05:00This is not a permanent color.
05:03It's usually a toner, it's usually a pigment.
05:06It doesn't provide any clarifying power, I emphasize this because you often see videos on the internet where they tell you
05:14I'm going to apply a shade so there isn't so much contrast with the roots.
05:17and that it slightly blurs or softens the dark versus the growth with a lot of highlights
05:24And what they're doing there is mixing this product with something else.
05:29because this alone, with its developer, does not have the power to clarify.
05:34I want to make that clear, that's why I'm emphasizing that issue.
05:40People get confused when trying to read or interpret the number, the code it contains.
05:48For example, that's a 06N.
05:50What does 06N mean?
05:53As colorists, we know that color levels, normally, for most brands range from 1 to 10.
06:00So, in this case, Redken with ChaseyQ to tell us that this coloring has no lightening power
06:11He put a 0 in front of the nomenclature, the color heights.
06:18That is, if this were a natural 6, that's why it's a 6N, by putting a 0 it's indicating that yes, it is a natural 6, but without any clarifying force.
06:32It only deposits pigment, therefore, it is the ChaseyQ range.
06:36That's how we interpret it.
06:39Many people get confused and dizzy with the ChaseyQ nomenclature.
06:44And the truth is, it's not that complicated.
06:47The problem is that here we would have to change what we normally know as European nomenclature.
06:55We have to change it, for example, a 3 is a 0, a point 3, a comma 3 is a gold, it is a yellow, it is a yellow, gold reflection.
07:06For Redken it would be with the letter G, G for Gold, Golden, Gold, golden.
07:16So we would have to replace numbers with letters.
07:24Another example, a red reflection in color nomenclature always comes down to a comma 6, a point 6.
07:33For Redken, they tell you that a red is an R, R for Red, Red in English, red.
07:41So, the truth is, it's getting simpler all the time.
07:46In fact, the brand itself provides a booklet; it gives us a booklet that includes a conversion table.
08:01Which, when I was studying many years ago, with my dear friend and teacher Milagros Cabrera, more than 10 years ago, did not exist.
08:11It didn't exist before. Now, they've really simplified things. I think that's great.
08:16For example, what do they tell you? They tell you about the family they have inside the shape.
08:21For example, GN, which would be a natural green.
08:25They are giving you the relationship of what number it would resemble.
08:29For example, a comma 7.3, which could be green, yellow, matte, or gold.
08:32And it tells you the base background that the color has, that the base background is like the pigmentation in the background that the colorations have.
08:41In this case, its cool colors work with gray background reflections to further define its cool highlights.
08:52And in reflections they tell us that they are green and yellow.
08:58For example, here's the NW, which is a series widely used for gray hair coverage, because it's a warm brown.
09:08It tells us that here it's like a comma 0.3.
09:12Their ratio would be 0.3.
09:15Its background is brown.
09:17It's not necessarily such a warm brown, it's just brown.
09:20And that the reflection you get is a light golden hue.
09:24This can be obtained very easily from their distributors,
09:29with the saleswomen you work with.
09:33When you buy a Redken from them, they can provide you with this information.
09:36The deposit levels in JZQ can be divided into three.
09:42We can divide them into the ranges of dark tones, which would be the Dark Shadows.
09:48In those ranges we will find height 1, height 2, and perhaps height 3.
09:54But in general, those are the tones.
09:57We're going to find the Medium Shadows.
09:59The Medium Shadows are height 4, height 5, and height 6.
10:04It means Medium Brown, Light Brown, Dark Blonde.
10:09And from there we have the third group, which are the Light Shadows,
10:14that come from number 7 to number 10.
10:18Medium Blonde, Light Blonde, Very Light Blonde or Ultra Pale Blonde.
10:23How does it help us to have an idea of the levels of deposits between dark, medium and light?
10:31This is useful because obviously a dark color will give us a higher concentration of pigment.
10:38And what good is this to us?
10:40For example, it's useful when we want to make a cane covering.
10:43Because we know and are very clear that a color at a height of a level from 1 to 5
10:50It will provide us with a greater pigment deposit versus a color at a height of 8, at a height of 9,
10:58where the pigments, although much lighter, are much more beautiful,
11:02but the concentration of the color is more diffuse.
11:05So, we always have to go for the moment to camouflage gray hair or tone it,
11:10We recommend aiming for colors between dark and medium.
11:16When we use the tones, what use are the base tones to us?
11:21Base tones mean that when we work with cool tones,
11:26They will help to better define the reflections, counteracting unwanted reflections.
11:31For example, we were talking about cold bases, gray bases.
11:36Gray bases give us a cool coverage and remove warmth.
11:41The brown bases are natural coverage,
11:46They give us more defined results in brown tones, but not necessarily warm ones.
11:53And then we have in shade the tones, which are the tones that do not have a background base,
11:59or background, which are tones without bases.
12:01One of those tones, for example, is iridescent.
12:05since its concentration is a created pigment,
12:08Violet is a solid color and does not have a background color.
12:14Because, for example, we use it to neutralize a reflection such as yellow.
12:18And the concentration of reflexes would vary depending on the intensity of the load.
12:26that we have to cancel in, for example, a bleaching process where we did not obtain the desired reflection.
12:32As an example of the bases, we are talking about gray base,
12:36It has a titanium sheen, not silver, but titanium.
12:41which is a blue, a silver blue, a silver.
12:46In brown bases we can find a gold,
12:50a gold, which would be a golden tone, a yellow tone,
12:54And a base tone, again, as I was saying, is a vechica,
12:59a vechica reflection that would be a violet, an iridescent, a pearly.
13:04Regarding gray hair coverage,
13:08While it's true that Shoe ZQ doesn't cover gray hair 100%,
13:11It can help you camouflage them, to tone them up.
13:15And it is very important to make it clear that we should always work with warm highlights.
13:23We know about traditional coloring, about normal coloring,
13:29that cool highlights don't always have the same ability to add color to gray hair,
13:35because gray hair is already cold, it's already grayish.
13:40So, what do we do when we cover up gray hair?
13:44To give it the warmth that this gray hair has previously lost.
13:49Recommendations include working with tones such as natural brown.
13:54dark tones, medium tones, height 2, height 3, height 4, height 5,
14:00notice the concentration of the reflection and, as we were talking about, the warmth.
14:06For example, I, from my own personal experience,
14:10Many times, clients came who had very thick gray hair,
14:15But they didn't want to get a full color treatment.
14:18And it even helped me a lot with my mixes.
14:22of small quantities of copper, of copper.
14:26Why? Because copper is obviously a stronger reflector.
14:31more intense than a golden color.
14:33So, sometimes I might combine,
14:37I invent a 05N with a 05G
14:42and at the same time add a few drops of 05C
14:48as if to make that gold a little warmer
14:52and the gray hair, when washed, would have that reflection
14:55and gave me a result many times like that of henna,
14:58when it highlights your gray hair and you have a little red gray hair,
15:03not so whitish, not so cold,
15:06Because although it is true, I was left with a transparent reflection,
15:08But it was a gray hair that already had a hint of color.
15:11So, that's what helped me.
15:13Regarding gray hair, the way to manage it,
15:18The truth is that Redken's posing time,
15:21The Redken JCQ time is 20 minutes.
15:24For gray hair, the ideal is to work it at 40.
15:28If you have a heating machine in the living room,
15:32at the hair salon, wherever you work,
15:34The recommendation would be to divide those 40 minutes,
15:3720 with heat treatment and 20 outdoors,
15:42room temperature, let it cool for 20 minutes
15:44and both added together give me 40 minutes of exposure.
15:48If you don't have a heat gun,
15:51climazone, upright dryer,
15:53Whatever you call it, wherever you're watching me from,
15:56How can they work on it?
15:58They can work on color for the first 20 minutes,
16:01adding a feel, a protector, a thermal hat,
16:04something that can't withstand heat,
16:05and 20 minutes without that plastic presence
16:10or the feel they've given it.
16:12To be redundant, 40 minutes is always allowed.
16:16to help the pigment work better.
16:20Let's remember that JCQ is a hair tint,
16:23It's a permanent hair color for me.
16:24that works at the external level of the cuticle,
16:28It won't penetrate the innermost part of the hair,
16:31Therefore, it has much less coverage strength.
16:35So it's like a gloss, it's like a toner,
16:38It's something much more superficial,
16:41That's why it needs help from darker colors.
16:43or longer,
16:45so that the pigment can penetrate better
16:47to the hair cuticle
16:49and last us a little longer.
16:51The lifespan of a shade should be an average of approximately 16 washes.
17:01because it's a very, very soft color.
17:04It contains wheat protein, it has a lot of shine,
17:06It really is a very nice product.
17:09It's a very nice product that the customer, once hooked on it, really enjoys.
17:12You'll see the result and the difference in your hair.
17:15But it all depends on the professional knowing how to offer it.
17:20and on the other hand, know how to work with it.
17:22The best recommendation,
17:27learn the reflexes so they can manipulate them,
17:30they can combine them even better.
17:33This is the current shade chart,
17:35Before, I was like a pioneer, like a filing clerk.
17:39This is the shade card,
17:40where we see titanium tones,
17:43which are platinums that we have at heights 06T, 07, 08, 09.
17:50We have it in natural green,
17:52green with a yellowish tint,
17:54which are 06GN and 08GN.
17:57We have mate, which is the cold green.
18:01We have a height of 2,
18:03Level 4, Level 7
18:05and level 09M, mate.
18:08In blue, in the ashen reflection,
18:11For example, we as Latinos
18:13This reflection helps us a lot.
18:16to neutralize unwanted colors
18:18like orange, like copper,
18:21But in this case, unfortunately
18:23the only height currently remaining on the chart
18:26It's the big 09B,
18:28which is actually one of the ones I use a lot
18:30Regarding the topic of highlighting,
18:32But it would be nice,
18:35That would be very nice,
18:37because before there was even a large 06B,
18:39It's been many years now and there isn't one.
18:41But it would be nice if you took us into account a little more.
18:44Latinos with pigmentation.
18:46But we know that Redken is an American brand,
18:50then often the type of hair
18:53The ones they work with are different.
18:55to the pigmentation that we have here.
18:59It also shows us natural ash trees.
19:02You can divide the ash into ash,
19:05everything that is ash, ash blue, ash violet,
19:10Everything that is ash becomes ashen,
19:13ash blue, ash violet,
19:17ash violet, vechica.
19:19You also have a natural one with violet,
19:23It runs from 03 to 09N.
19:27Regarding warm, reflective tones,
19:31These, for example, are very good for gray hair.
19:34which is what I was telling you.
19:36You have the entire 0 range, which is the NB.
19:41Everything that is NB, natural brown,
19:43You have from 03 NB, 04 NB, 06 NB, 07 NB and 09 NB,
19:51These are colors that would help us with coverage.
19:54because of its warm reflection.
19:56Other very good options are 0.5 NB double
20:01and the 0.7 NB double.
20:03These ranges, these two families in and of themselves
20:06They are very good for covering gray hair
20:09because they give us a warm, natural reflection,
20:12a reflection with a more golden hue
20:15so that we can have a greater concentration of warmth in the gray hair.
20:19Here we also see, for example, 03G, 05G, 06GB,
20:26Gold Beige, 06 G, 06 Gold, 07 GB, 07 GB, 09 GB, 09 GB.
20:36All these ranges have a beige gold and a pure gold.
20:41I, for example, as I was saying,
20:43often to help give my gray hair more warmth,
20:48I have mixed, for example, 0.5 NB double
20:51with a linear millimeter of 0.5 C,
20:56While it is true that it is a very coppery color,
20:59But you're adding more warmth to the gray hair.
21:03And well, the red alert,
21:04that we have coppery browns, 0.7 Cb, 0.6 Cb.
21:08You have the reddish brown, this color is nice, the 09 RB.
21:14You have one, two, three shades.
21:16In copper you have 0.5 Cc, which is an intense copper, 0.7 Cc.
21:22The ones in red you have the Red Kicker,
21:25which is like the concentrator, the toner,
21:28to help us give more strength and intensity to the red.
21:31Height 6, height 3.
21:34In red you have 0.7 and 0.6.
21:36And in red violet 0.5 RB, Red Violet, 0.5 RB.
21:41And let's stop counting.
21:43Regarding Shade Gloss,
21:45One of the most requested, yes, it's the 09 B Chica,
21:49because it's to remove the yellow tint from the highlights.
21:53And their big product is Clear.
21:58The Clear, as we see here,
22:01which is currently available in a small 60ml presentation,
22:07Clear has always come in a large bottle.
22:12What good is the big jar to us?
22:14Because?
22:14Because it often helped us create new shades.
22:17That means, you applied 20 ml of 0.7 NB to your mixture,
22:25You used to put it in your measuring cup, now it's on a scale.
22:29But you put it in the measuring cup, the graduated cylinder, or the bottle,
22:33where the Shade is always applied.
22:39You added the amount of Shade you wanted,
22:42I invent 20 ml of 0.7 NB,
22:46And you wanted to dilute it because, for example,
22:49You wanted to achieve a 9, let it be a 0.9 NB,
22:53You could apply 10,
22:55You could add 10-15 ml of Crystal Clear to your mixture
23:00so that the reflection would dilute and you would have a much clearer result.
23:04So, Crystal Clear basically helped you generate new colors,
23:09But there is also a color service where you only mix Crystal Clear
23:15with the processing solution or the Processing Solution.
23:20Mixing these two together creates a brilliant effect.
23:23This is a gloss, it's a clear varnish.
23:25It has no color.
23:27This means that when these two are mixed together,
23:29You could put it in any color you wanted.
23:32And what you're doing is a gloss treatment,
23:34restoring the shine my hair has lost
23:37and you're adding a lot of cosmetic benefits to the hair.
23:41So, if your color was perfect,
23:43You didn't want to alternate it with anything,
23:44You didn't want to change it for anything,
23:46But you only wanted to give it a shine,
23:48You mixed your processing solution with the gloss
23:52in equal amounts.
23:54Remember that the shade always works in one plus one
23:58and we let it work for 20 minutes.
24:04I'm going to make a small mix.
24:07Here I have 15 ml of 0.7 NB
24:11so that they can see it, so that they can get an idea of the texture.
24:18It's liquid, it's completely liquid,
24:21It's not a creamy texture.
24:23And we're going to combine this mixture the same way.
24:28with the same amount of Procession Solution.
24:31Let's open it.
24:35It comes sealed.
24:37The product is usually new.
24:40It comes sealed.
24:43Let's open it.
24:45In this case, if I used 15 ml of shade toner,
24:48of the desired color,
24:49I'm going to mix 15 ml in the same amount.
24:57I'm doing this purely so you can get an idea.
25:00of the texture
25:01of what the shade generates for us.
25:04So you can see the shape,
25:07the mixture,
25:09which is watery,
25:11which is not a coloring,
25:12a dense, heavy load.
25:13heavy.
25:22It's liquid.
25:24The texture is super, super liquid.
25:29Whereby,
25:30It becomes much easier to apply
25:32at the moment the product has to run.
25:38At the moment,
25:39JZQ is also bringing us the novelty
25:42of working with your Bonder InSight.
25:45It means that it has this,
25:48just as there is Olaplex,
25:50just as they exist,
25:51that all brands have their component,
25:53its additive,
25:54to avoid bankruptcy
25:55and repair the hair strand,
25:58rebuild it internally,
26:00repair it after a damage process
26:02like a very aggressive bleaching.
26:04Well now,
26:05JZQ too,
26:07within its coloration,
26:08The Bonder InSight component provides us with,
26:11which is the additive that Ratkan works with
26:13in their coloring powders.
26:15So,
26:16If you didn't know him,
26:17ask about him.
26:21Remember that with JZQ
26:22we can obtain results
26:24how to tone,
26:25revive a color,
26:27refresh,
