Braceface (2003), produced by Nelvana and Jade Animation, returns with the Season 3 premiere titled “Lucky Break,” Episode 1 of the final season of the iconic coming-of-age animated series. The show continues to follow teenager Sharon Spitz, a well-meaning girl whose metal braces constantly pick up signals, cause magnetic mishaps, and trigger bizarre accidental events in her everyday life. Alongside her closest friends Maria Wong and Connor Mackenzie, Sharon navigates school, relationships, self-confidence, and the unpredictable chaos caused by her braces.

Season 3 features a matured tone as Sharon faces new social challenges, family responsibilities, and personal growth moments. In Episode 1 “Lucky Break,” Sharon deals with the consequences of a sudden good-luck streak that turns out to have unexpected complications. As she tries to balance friendships, school commitments, and her own hopes, Sharon learns valuable lessons about honesty, expectations, and appreciating what she has. The episode includes key appearances from recurring characters such as her brothers Adam and Josh, her mother Helen Spitz, and friends from Elkford High.

00:00Something tells me I've been dreaming of someone who was never real
00:15It seems I've changed a thousand ways I wish I'd look the way I feel
00:22Brave face, my life gets complicated Boyfriend, don't wanna talk about it
00:30Teenage, I'll work it out in the end
00:35Brave face, my life gets complicated
00:52Boyfriend, don't wanna talk about it
00:56Teenage, I'll work it out in the end
00:59Brave face
01:00I'm tired of being meek, polite and boring
01:13Always respectable, never saying what I mean or doing what I want
01:19Until now, if it works, this potion will release my dark side
01:25She'd be awesome as Dr. Jekyll
01:28She's doing great, I can't wait to see her do hide
01:31Shh, she's drinking the potion
01:34It's happening
01:39I feel like a whole new person
01:45I am a new person
01:47I am
01:49Miss Hyde
01:55Will there be special effects or do we just take our word for it?
02:01The difference is supposed to be obvious
02:03I must hurry, the potion only lasts a few hours
02:08I'm sure the good doctor won't mind if I borrow a few pounds
02:12And after all, it takes money to start a new life
02:18No more letting people walk all over me
02:24I'll show them, I'll show them all
02:27I hate her
02:29That's the point
02:30Thanks, Nina, that's all I need to see
02:33Thanks for auditioning for my play, everybody
02:35I'll call you all tonight to let you know what parts you got
02:38Except for me, right?
02:40Obviously, I get the lead
02:41Uh, I still need to think about it
02:44Well, think faster, Layton
02:46Are you almost finished practicing?
02:55We have to watch a video
02:56It's important
02:57What's so important about a video?
03:00It's Jekyll and Hyde
03:01We have to study it for our play
03:02Allison's doing publicity
03:04Maria's designing the sets
03:06And I may be playing the lead
03:09You better wait for Brock's phone call before you get all excited
03:12Why? Do you know something? I'm just saying
03:15Wow, you play like Matt's Wolfenstein
03:21He's amazing and so cute
03:24I am? I mean, you really think I play like Matt's?
03:29Totally! I play too, but I'm not nearly as good as you
03:33Do you think I could come over and practice with you sometime?
03:36Sure, I mean, that would be cool
03:39If you guys are done, can I start the video?
03:43Okay, okay
03:44I'll be upstairs
03:46Maybe it's Brock!
03:53Hello?
03:54Hey, it's Brock, how's it?
03:55So what part am I playing?
03:56Well, it was a tough decision
03:59But I finally decided to give you the part of Dr. Jekyll
04:01Woohoo!
04:03Kull's lab assistant
04:04It's a good part
04:07And here's the big thing
04:08I really need you to understudy Dr. Jekyll
04:11Understudy?
04:12Who got the part?
04:14Nina
04:14Oh
04:15Is that cool?
04:16I did it this way because I knew I could count on you
04:19Of course you can
04:20Thanks, Brock
04:22Awesome!
04:23I'll see you at rehearsal
04:24Well?
04:24Nina is Dr. Jekyll
04:30I'm her lab assistant
04:32Nina's servant?
04:34Life is so unfair
04:36But it's still a good part
04:39Whoopee!
04:41And I'm her understudy
04:43So I have to learn all of her lines
04:45But I'll never even get to play the part
04:48This is not happening
04:51It'll still be fun
04:53And if Nina gets bossy
04:55I'll just drop one of my sets on her
04:56Okay?
04:57Really?
04:58Well, no
04:59I'm just trying to be supportive
05:01All right
05:02Let's watch the movie
05:04I could deal with not getting the part
05:07But what burned was how Nina was going to lord this over me
05:10I only hoped I could get through playing her servant
05:14Without turning into a monster myself
05:16I'm worried about you, Doctor
05:20You don't sleep
05:21You don't eat
05:22Cut!
05:24We don't say cut in the theater
05:26I think I know more about acting than you do
05:29I've been doing commercials since I was three
05:31Okay
05:33What's the problem?
05:36Brace Face keeps walking in front of me
05:38It's called staging, Nina
05:41You can't be front and center all the time
05:43Of course I can
05:45I'm the star
05:46Can you believe her?
05:49You'd think she was the only one in the play
05:51If she keeps acting like this, she will be
05:54I'm just telling you what I heard
05:59If Nina doesn't drop the attitude
06:00Half your cast is going to quit
06:02Maybe she's just trying to stay in character
06:05Yeah, well, a little less realism might be nice
06:08Look, I know Nina's a pain
06:10But she's perfect for the part
06:12And I really need my play to be impressive
06:15Let's go, Brock
06:19Your math tutor's waiting
06:20You've wasted enough time for one day
06:23Yes, sir
06:24Next rehearsal, I'll talk to everybody about teamwork
06:28Maybe Nina will get the hint
06:29Mr. Layton thinks anything that isn't homework is a waste of time
06:35That's why Brock's play is so important to him
06:38He's hoping to impress his dad
06:40Wow, if he was my father, I guess I'd feel like I needed to impress him too
06:45Doing a play is like being in a family
06:53Sometimes we're going to have differences of opinion
06:56But it doesn't mean we don't care about each other, right?
07:00Hey, Granny, are you listening?
07:03You made me drop a stitch
07:04Why are you knitting anyway?
07:08It's how movie stars relax between scenes
07:11Not that you would know, but it's very chic
07:14It's also supposed to be very unlucky to knit on the stage
07:18Unlucky?
07:19Why?
07:21Oh, I don't know
07:21Maybe because you should be listening to the director
07:24Instead of counting stitches
07:25I, uh, I thought we could try a duet next
07:44Our secret love
07:45Sounds pretty
07:46I thought you'd like it
07:48Oh, Allison
07:54Hi
07:54Josh is giving me some pointers
07:56How was rehearsal?
07:58Pretty scary
07:59Nina was knitting on the stage
08:01Which is supposed to be unlucky
08:02And then a light fell down
08:04And missed her bite this much
08:05Nina must be freaking out
08:09She hates to admit it
08:11But she's totally superstitious
08:14That must be Connor
08:16He's helping me put up posters
08:18Thanks, this was really fun
08:20I like learning from a genius
08:23Bye guys
08:24Bye
08:25Poor Connor
08:26He has no idea
08:28About what?
08:30Allison's crazy about me
08:31You heard her
08:32She called me a genius
08:33I wish you would tell me
08:37What you're working on, Dr. Jekyll
08:39I said
08:44I wish you would
08:46I heard you
08:47Brock
08:48My servant's braces
08:50Are breaking my concentration
08:51Does she have to talk so much?
08:54Don't take it personally
08:55I'm only thinking of the play
08:57Well
08:59We are running long
09:00Can we try it without your lines, Sharon?
09:04Sure
09:04Why not?
09:08Okay
09:08From the top
09:09Ah!
09:13You did that on purpose
09:15I did not
09:16The spot
09:21Won't
09:22Come
09:23Out
09:24You sound like Lady Macbeth
09:27Macbeth?
09:28What are you talking about?
09:30Don't you know it's bad luck to say Mc-you-know-what in a theater?
09:34It is?
09:35How do we reverse it?
09:36You're supposed to go outside, turn around three times, spit, then knock and ask to be let back in
09:43Hey!
09:48Well?
09:49What are you waiting for?
09:50Spin!
09:51I don't want to be jinxed
09:53Ugh
09:53Okay, but I'm only doing this for Brock
09:57Instead of handing me the test tube
10:04You should just
10:05Dust the lab
10:08Whatever you say
10:10Uh-oh
10:12Sneezing is a bad omen
10:14Hey, those look good
10:22From my dad
10:23Stars for a star
10:24Do you mind if I...
10:27Yes
10:27Never mind
10:29It's just as well, Brock
10:33Star-shaped things are so unlucky
10:36I'm afraid there was a murder last night, Doctor
10:40We're looking for a woman named Hyde
10:42Hyde?
10:43I've never heard of...
10:45Oh!
10:45Brace Face?
10:46You left that there!
10:48It's always been there
10:50But if you want to make sure you won't trip, I know something you could do for luck
10:55I wish I may, I wish I might, never trip on opening night
11:03I wish I may, I wish I might, never trip on opening night
11:09You have to see this
11:12I wish I may, I wish I might, never trip on opening night
11:16I wish I may, I wish I might, never trip on opening night
11:26vulnerability
11:26I wish I might, never trip on opening night
11:27I wish I may, I wish I might, never trip on opening night
11:29Except for Macbeth, that one's real
11:31And Nina believed you?
11:34Yeah, Allison told me she's really superstitious.
11:37I couldn't resist.
11:38I wish I might never trip on opening night.
11:41OK, so it wasn't my finest hour.
11:44But Nina deserved this after how she'd been treating everyone.
11:48I figured, hey, I wasn't really hurting anybody.
11:58Morning, Josh.
12:01Oh, hi, Allison.
12:02I was wondering, are you going to go to the play tonight?
12:06Of course she is.
12:08Because I was wondering if you'd like to sit with me.
12:11Cool.
12:11I'll meet you there.
12:12Bye.
12:14Who the man?
12:15I'm the man.
12:16I'm the man with a date.
12:17Whoa, Josh.
12:18Don't get too excited, OK?
12:20Allison's five years older than you.
12:22You're just jealous because you haven't had a date in forever.
12:26That's not the point.
12:27Mom, is my good shirt clean?
12:31Hey, you look amazing.
12:33Thanks.
12:34I may not have many lines, but at least I get a wicked dress.
12:36Oh, the horror.
12:38You can't be in pink.
12:40You're a servant.
12:41Lab assistant.
12:43Whatever.
12:44Let's find you something more appropriate.
12:46I think Nina's right.
12:47It works for the character.
12:47But it's ugly.
12:48No, it's perfect.
12:49And don't forget this.
12:50I have something to say to you.
12:51Well, spit it out, Spitz.
12:52Some of us have a show for you.
12:53I think you're a servant.
12:54You're a servant.
12:55Lab assistant.
12:56Whatever.
12:57Let's find you something more appropriate.
13:01I think Nina's right.
13:02It works for the character.
13:03But it's ugly.
13:04No.
13:05It's perfect.
13:06And don't forget this.
13:08I have something to say to you.
13:16Well, spit it out, Spitz.
13:18Some of us have a show to do.
13:20You drank from a yellow cup.
13:23That's bad.
13:25It's terrible.
13:26It's the worst bad luck ever.
13:28The, uh, cup of death.
13:31What happened?
13:39Are you okay?
13:40No.
13:41Can't you see I'm injured?
13:44Oh, I can't possibly perform now.
13:47But the show must go on, right?
13:49Whoever said that did not have
13:51a practically broken left ankle.
13:54I feel faint.
13:57Help me to my dressing room.
13:59She's totally exaggerating.
14:03Maybe.
14:04But I've got a rehearsal in five minutes and no star.
14:07You memorized Nina's part, right?
14:10Thank you, thank you, thank you.
14:12I promise I won't let you down.
14:16There has to be some potion left somewhere.
14:19Only Dr. Jekyll knows how to make it.
14:22And without it, I can't change back into her.
14:26I need it.
14:28I need it.
14:29I need it to live.
14:40Why did Jekyll let this happen?
14:43Why did she do this to me?
14:46Her good friend Hyde.
14:49So, how was I?
14:56Great.
14:57Good.
14:58Mom?
14:59Dad?
15:00What are you doing here?
15:03You forgot your dinner, hon.
15:05With all this foolishness filling his head,
15:07I'm not surprised.
15:08I hope it's going well?
15:12Yeah, couldn't be better.
15:22Nina, I have to tell you something.
15:24It's bad luck to do my nails?
15:26No, I have to confess something.
15:29There's no such thing as the cup of death.
15:33Excuse me?
15:35And sneezing isn't unlucky.
15:36And hopping around the stage on one foot doesn't do anything.
15:40I made it all up to freak you out.
15:43I'm really sorry.
15:44And I really want you to play Dr. Jekyll tonight.
15:47Sure you do.
15:48So something terrible can happen to me, right?
15:52No, you're not cursed.
15:54Please get changed.
15:55It's almost showtime.
15:57You did make it up.
15:58How dare you?
15:59Wasn't I under enough pressure?
16:02Playing the lead in my first live play?
16:06You're not scared of performing live, are you?
16:09That's ridiculous.
16:10I'm not scared.
16:12I'm just injured.
16:14Fine.
16:15But it's too bad.
16:16Because there's a big talent scout in the audience
16:19who flew in from Los Angeles.
16:21But if you're injured, get out of my dress.
16:38Hi, Josh.
16:39Thanks for saving seats.
16:41Can I move these coats?
16:45Where's Sharon?
16:54I better go find her.
16:56No need.
16:57Nina.
16:58What about your ankle?
17:00I am in agony.
17:02But you know me.
17:04Anything for the theater?
17:06All right.
17:07Places, everybody.
17:09Oh, one small thing.
17:11I think Sharon should say her lines after all.
17:14Can I wear the pink dress too?
17:16Yeah, right.
17:18You did an awesome job on the program, Alison.
17:24I brought this for you.
17:34Oh no, your allergies.
17:40I'm okay.
17:41I'll just go outside for a minute.
17:43I'll just go outside.
17:45I'll just go outside.
17:51Oh.
17:53Here are your supplies, Dr. Jekyll.
18:09Shall I put them away?
18:15Or maybe you need them right now.
18:19Yes, I need them now.
18:22Because?
18:24Because I'm on the verge of a breakthrough?
18:29That's wonderful. Can I help?
18:33Miss Poole, you're an excellent assistant.
18:35But this is a rather personal project.
18:39But I don't wish to be rude, but I am very busy.
18:45The potion! I need it! I need it to live!
18:52Why did Jekyll let this happen?
18:55Why did she do this to me?
18:59Her good friend, Hyde.
19:01Oh, for me?
19:10There was Nina, soaking up the glory like a sponge.
19:17Oh, was it for me?
19:25There was Nina, soaking up the glory like a sponge.
19:29She may have been a good actress, but she still drove me crazy.
19:36Bravo! Bravo! Fabulous!
19:40Bravo! That's my son who directed that! Bravo!
19:44On the other hand, seeing Brock's dad start a standing ovation was worth the price of admission.
19:58I'm so glad you liked it.
20:00Can I borrow Sharon for a sec?
20:03I just want to thank you for what you did. It took a lot of class.
20:07I don't know how you got Nina out there.
20:09Sharon, where is that talent scout? Doesn't he want to meet me?
20:13Oh, um...
20:15He had to catch a flight. The Red Eye back to Hollywood.
20:21Oh. Well, I guess he'll just call my agent.
20:24Here, it's three-ply.
20:34Thanks.
20:36You know, Josh, I totally like hanging out with you, but...
20:41No worries. I... I get it. Connor's a lucky guy.
20:48Thanks for understanding.
20:50Maybe it would be better if I kept the flower?
20:52Probably a good idea.
20:54I hope you let her down easy.
21:02Yeah, I just couldn't take her from Connor.
21:05Sometimes you just gotta step aside, you know?
21:08Here.
21:09You were really good in the play.
21:11Thank you!
21:12I don't know.
21:13I don't know.
