Leeds locals reflect on the cost of the monarchy to the public

With recent attention on how much the public pays for royal residences, do you think it is time to reassess the monarchy’s financial relationship with the public? What feels fair to you?

00:00Not the monarchy like it used to be when we had the Queen and Queen Victoria.

00:07It was another time and it would have been a better time.

00:12But no, it's costing too much money, the monarchy, and it needs to be shortened dramatically.

00:20Too much money goes to the royal family.

00:21I think that the money, there's a lot of better causes to people a lot more in need,

00:26especially around Christmas, that that money could be going to.

00:28I'm a huge fan of the royal family and the monarchy.

00:30I'm very proud of our ancestry, very proud to be from the UK,

00:35and love taking a trip down to London and going and visiting the House of Parliament

00:40and the Queen's Estates, all of them throughout the UK.

00:43So I would say bring on more support, continue the support for the royal family.

00:50And yeah, I'm very proud of packing and the fact that we have a royal family,

00:55given that so many countries in the world either don't have one at all or don't have one anymore.
