00:00Happy Holidays! It's been an interesting year and here at setlist.fm we've had the
00:07chance to talk to so many talented music makers for our tour update series. As 2018
00:12comes to a close we thought we'd take a look back at some of our favorite
00:15moments of artists reminding us why they do what they do and why we live for live
00:19music. Take a look. When you go to a live concert it's not just the artist and
00:24the person out there experiencing it it's all of the people experiencing it
00:28together and my crew and everybody involved in our thing we're here to
00:32promote optimism. We're here to make people feel like they can sit up and
00:36stand up a little bit taller when they walk out of here and that whatever it is
00:40they face in their life next whether it's a personal thing or a political thing or
00:46a new job or a relationship at home or their own sadness or depression or their
00:54own joy that they have a greater capacity to express it. That's the ultimate goal.
00:59People sometimes don't know that they need to create space to come to a show.
01:05The biggest hindrance to getting people to shows is they forget the moment that
01:09you walk in and someone starts attacking you with heart in a way that you don't
01:13get in your normal life and then you're there you're like oh my god I almost
01:17didn't come to this. I need this so bad and I'm so glad this happened. It's almost
01:22like a date or something where you can just like feel energy exchange between
01:28you and a crowd or you and another person where you just feel like oh yeah this
01:32makes sense like we're connecting in the way that I want to connect in the way
01:36they want to connect. So I think it's almost hard it's kind of intangible and a
01:39little bit hard to describe but there is a feeling you get when your energy and
01:44what you need out of a crowd they are willing to give and you're giving them
01:48what they want to. The good show is when everything went perfectly there was no
01:54mistakes no technical issues and it was just a flawless performance. The great
01:57show is when everything went wrong and they still had a good show and the
02:01audience couldn't tell. Every show is like another challenge to sort of top
02:05yourself and learn how to interact with the crowd and make it the best night
02:10ever. That's like the ultimate flattery to me is people participating.
02:14When I say flawless victory it is so beautiful because it's impossible 50
02:23selections and flawless victory. That's crazy. It's hard to find support in a
02:32physical sense in this digital age of music so to see that people are still
02:36willing to show up to the concerts it means a lot to artists I'm just very
02:40thankful. You'll leave feeling like you can do anything and girls can do anything
02:45which they can.
02:46Thanks for watching happy holidays see you at a show in 2019.
