00:00Okay, we've got a really exciting video for you here today.
00:03We are in the Philippines.
00:04It is roasting hot.
00:05We're at St. Helena Golf Club, and I'm here with the Brian Bros.
00:21So which way do you want to start?
00:22Do you want to start with the big dogs and work down, or do you want to start with the
00:24wedges and the putters and work up?
00:26Let's start with the wedges.
00:27They're probably the most exciting clubs in our bag, because BB803 Tacoma Wedges, our
00:33collaboration with Tacoma to kind of like co-produce a wedge, like with Wesley and I's input, their
00:39expertise, and yeah, built something really amazing, honestly.
00:42It's helped, like I was like, ah, can these wedges, you know, they're not like the traditional
00:46tireless cleaver, whatever, can they do tour-level wedges?
00:51And they have.
00:52My wedge game actually has gotten better, especially around the greens.
00:55And we've got some custom grinding on there as well.
00:57Yeah, and then full face grooves, because I live on the toe.
01:00Yeah, so it's been cool, because they look good, they perform well, and they're at a price
01:06point where it's like very affordable.
01:07Yeah, I mean, it's the most affordable wedge on the market.
01:11And so we were excited to make something that was very accessible to everybody.
01:16No matter if they're going to go buy a new wedge, there's no reason for them to go elsewhere
01:22because of price point.
01:23And so we got the name, BB's obviously for Brian Bros.
01:25803 is the area code where we're from in South Carolina.
01:28Oh, awesome.
01:29So that's pretty special.
01:31And it must be pretty cool to see your name, you know, or initials at least on a wedge
01:35that you guys have helped input, right?
01:36Yeah, no, it's probably like a two-year process of them saying, hey, how does this look?
01:41How does this look?
01:42And giving feedback back and forth.
01:44Because then you think, oh, you're sure they're going to listen to our input, but are they
01:47really?
01:48Because at the end of the day, it's their decision.
01:49And so it was cool that they took our feedback, and we actually worked together on producing
01:53something that we're proud of.
01:55So yeah, it was a pretty surreal moment when we, like, set up to them, had them in our
01:58hands, and we're like, wow, it actually happened.
02:00So yeah, I showed you guys at Tacoma for making this dream come true.
02:03And in terms of your setups, I can see you both got a 58.
02:06Do you both go 54-50 after that, or?
02:09Yep.
02:10Wait, I thought you were a 55 and a 52.
02:13Well, I was.
02:14Oh, you changed at 50 now?
02:15Well, I was 58-56.
02:1750.
02:18Oh, the more you know.
02:20And then I went to, honestly, I just ended up with a 54.
02:24Don't really know how or why, but that was the first one that was sent to me.
02:27Some trial and error?
02:28No, no, I just, that's the one that came to me.
02:30They had all of them, and this is the one I started messing around with.
02:32And so, just adjusted my yardages a little bit.
02:35That's cool.
02:36And now we're in a 54.
02:37Awesome.
02:38And what shafts are you guys playing in those at the moment?
02:41Currently, some Nippon Modus.
02:43But when you see these next, well, I know the wedge is going to be the same.
02:46Oh, George.
02:47I'm just saying, I'm going to be tinkering.
02:49You're going to tinker.
02:50You're going to have them in the bag for it.
02:51He's trying out these new graphite shafts that Jason Day is playing.
02:53Yeah, Jason Day was like, not sponsored by him.
02:55He was like, graphite shafts of the future.
02:57I said, say less.
02:58I like the way you hit it.
02:59The KBS TGIs?
03:00Is that what you're looking at?
03:01Yeah.
03:02Yeah?
03:02See?
03:03OK, I've been there.
03:04I've tested some Avodas, so, yeah.
03:07I'm excited.
03:07No, but so, I got the Nippons.
03:09I got a standard S400.
03:11S400.
03:12Had those.
03:12Yep, have those in my wedges since I was a kid, basically, so.
03:16Familiar.
03:16Yep.
03:17Awesome.
03:17And then, stick them with Tacomo throughout the irons here.
03:20Yep.
03:21That's what it looks like.
03:22Talk us a bit about these and why you love these so much.
03:24301s throughout the bag for me.
03:27No, they're just a classic, like, they're not too blady.
03:29They're not too, like, game improvement.
03:31They're like a perfect blend of, like.
03:32It's like a muscle cavity, right?
03:33Yeah, I need a lot of help, honestly.
03:35I've gotten, I've hit it worse and worse the older I've gotten.
03:39And so, but it's still, I like looking at blades for, like, you know, a smaller profile
03:43and these are a good blend of, like, not too big, not too small, and they produce pretty
03:49well.
03:50Like, you know, Wesley, when he switched, when he was on a PGA Tour, he was, like, top
03:54five in, like, strokes gained or just proximity to the hole with irons.
03:58And so, that shows you, like, hey, just because they're a direct-to-consumer, like, you can
04:02still, they can still perform at a tour level.
04:04Absolutely.
04:05And then, you know, you guys wouldn't have them in play this week if you didn't believe
04:08that, right?
04:09And honestly, I've played all irons, and I've said for years that irons don't matter.
04:16And I still will say that the brand of iron doesn't matter.
04:18I feel like they're all the same.
04:20And again, Tacoma, they've been an unbelievable brand to work with, and they've produced an
04:24iron that is just as competitive as a Titleist or TaylorMade or Cobra or whatever, Srixon
04:31iron.
04:33And I've played all of those irons throughout my career, and I didn't notice any difference
04:38as soon as I switched to the Tacoma.
04:39And again, for like half of the price or a third of the price from some of those that
04:43are on the market, it made it a no-brainer for us to go and say, hey, do you want to
04:47play what we're playing?
04:49And if you're in the market for new irons, this makes the most sense possible.
04:53Awesome.
04:54Yeah.
04:55And so it gets interesting for me.
04:56Yeah.
04:57That's the first thing I've noticed here.
04:58And so I've got, so I guess I'll start with a Tacoma one.
05:03This is a four iron that's bent to a five iron.
05:05It's wildly oversized.
05:07It's the 101U, and it's got the loft of a five iron, but this is the club that I feel
05:13more comfortable flighting it down.
05:14Makes absolutely no sense.
05:15Don't ask me how or why that ended up.
05:17And it's got a completely different shaft in it.
05:19Don't even know what this is.
05:21It's some mid-X100 something or another that I think is lighter than the rest of them.
05:26This was built up in Napa a few years ago, and probably my favorite club is the Jack
05:32of all trades.
05:33I can hit it high, low, left or right.
05:35It goes anywhere from 190 to 230, depending on how I want to hit it.
05:40And then this four iron has been in the bag for years and years and years and years.
05:43And I haven't found one that goes as high and as far as this one can go.
05:47Just hits your window.
05:48You know what you're getting.
05:50If I need it to go 230 and straight up in the air, I pretty much can do that.
05:54And so these clubs, they go really close to the same distance, but the five iron is the
06:00one that I shot shape and work more.
06:02The four iron is just the standard.
06:03If I got 225 to 235 and got to hit it high and hit it soft.
06:07And so this club is going to be hard to get out of the bag because it's, like I said,
06:11it's a unicorn.
06:12And you said you had a different shaft completely in that kind of utility makeshift five iron.
06:17What shafts are you playing in the rest of your irons at the moment?
06:19Uh, the, the regular, yeah.
06:21Tor issue X100.
06:22X100.
06:23I don't know what this mid, so you can tell me you're the, whatever, we're going to forget
06:28about that.
06:29You can tell me what's the difference in that and what the regular X100, you're a, you're
06:32a techie guru.
06:34It would just be from a kick point standpoint.
06:36Oh yeah.
06:37Kick point.
06:38Yeah.
06:39Yeah.
06:40I know all about kick points.
06:41So, so is that why it goes lower?
06:42So what would make it go lower based on the kick point?
06:44So it's slightly stiffer tip section.
06:47So interestingly, I'm not sure why this actually goes lower because in all honesty, you've
06:51got a lot of weight in the bottom here.
06:53The CG is lower and therefore it should pop higher.
06:57Oh no.
06:58It makes perfect sense.
06:59So yeah.
07:00It makes sense that it goes lower, right?
07:01It makes sense.
07:02So anybody that's built a club for me, so once we get to the driver, you'll understand
07:05any, anytime I get a golf lesson, if I do what an instructor tells me to do, I hit it
07:09terrible.
07:10If I do the complete opposite, I'll hit it good.
07:12Same thing with equipment in my golf bag.
07:13If someone says cause and effect, do this.
07:16It'll produce X.
07:17It'll produce the opposite, the complete opposite of X for me.
07:20So at least you know what you're asking for then.
07:22So you could go in and just go, I need, you know, the highest launching product out there
07:27and you know, yeah, it's perfect for links.
07:30Yeah, exactly.
07:31Exactly.
07:32And how about you, George?
07:33What, what shafts have you got in those?
07:35Um, no, I got thinness kind of moving on from Nippon as well.
07:39I've had all those, the, the, the modus, uh, don't know why apparently they were good, but
07:43then club fair said, I don't know how those work for you.
07:45So I'm like, huh?
07:46I don't know.
07:47Do they work?
07:48And so now he's in the market for a shaft he's never hit before and he's super excited
07:52about it.
07:53I go more on feels and they do feel good and like the waiting and when I do hit it
07:57well, um, it does what I want it to do.
08:00Yeah.
08:01Um, but I couldn't tell you why just go off the numbers, go off the bull flight.
08:06I think more people should do that to be honest.
08:07I mean, I'm just really old school and like, and I honestly don't, my brain doesn't work
08:11in data.
08:12Like I need someone to tell me why and I just hit it and kind of like kind of figured
08:16out.
08:17And to be fair, most people watching this, they can really like and appreciate the technology.
08:22But at the end of the day, there's no substitute for the hours that you actually need to spend
08:26hitting it.
08:27And so it's, it's more of just like telling your buddies what you got in it and gaining
08:32knowledge.
08:33But applying that knowledge is, again, for guys at our level, it's still obsolete at
08:38times.
08:39You're a level.
08:40I'm like, no, don't put yourself down, Jordan.
08:41No, we're both Asian tour players this week.
08:43Yeah.
08:44Same event.
08:45Yeah.
08:46So then I can see you've got a hybrid in the bag here.
08:48Yeah.
08:49We've got three hybrids.
08:50Cool.
08:51Cool.
08:52Yeah.
08:53A bit of lead tape on there as well.
08:54I don't know if it's the right spot, but I needed it.
08:55It was a little too light.
08:56So I just put a little to make it, but no, it's like a 250, 240 club.
09:00Okay.
09:01And definitely just a one, one, one trick pony.
09:06Like it really just does what it does, what it needs to do.
09:09It's the same every time.
09:10Yeah.
09:11It's like a full two.
09:12It has a mind of its own.
09:13Yeah.
09:14Yeah.
09:15Nice.
09:16Nice.
09:17This is a 19 degree and this club has had some really, really good days and good shots,
09:23and it's also got some really bad ones.
09:25Okay.
09:26I would say as of late, it has a real tendency to go left, probably my doing, but I like it
09:34just, it's a higher launch, lower spin, which you would think that would be good off tees.
09:40But when I hit it off tees, I miss fairways.
09:42And when I hit it into greens, I usually hit good shots.
09:44Nice.
09:45It does what it needs to do.
09:46Yeah.
09:47It's probably a mental block that I have whenever I plop it down onto a tee box.
09:50It's interesting because we've talked a lot about hybrids dying out on tour and stuff recently
09:55at work.
09:56And to see both of you guys with hybrids in the bag, have you experimented much with driving
10:00irons or lofted fairway woods?
10:02That's a sore subject.
10:03We're also the older guys in the field now.
10:06We're kind of the old school of the bunch.
10:09It's a bunch of young guys out here now that hit two irons straight up in the air.
10:12And then they've all gone to seven woods for some reason.
10:14Yeah.
10:15And I can't quite figure that one out.
10:17Yeah.
10:18I mean, I hit shot in Bermuda last year.
10:20I was in, I was, I was searching.
10:22I didn't know.
10:23I needed like a hybrid or I love the driving iron.
10:25I'd hit this top into a, into a hospitality tent.
10:29Yeah.
10:30Literally into a coffee stand.
10:32And from that moment, I said never again.
10:34That was enough scarring.
10:35Oh yeah.
10:36No more driving irons for George.
10:37No, I like that.
10:38It needs to get the ball airborne.
10:39Yeah.
10:40Back to the basics.
10:41Yeah.
10:42Three wood.
10:43No reason to talk about it.
10:44This is the worst club in my bag.
10:45Don't even know why it's in there.
10:46We'll literally never hit it unless I absolutely have to.
10:49Okay.
10:50It has the ability to go all sorts of directions and trajectories.
10:55But one out of two or one out of three.
10:58No reason to talk about it.
11:00No, one out of two or one out of three is unbelievable.
11:02But this thing, this thing, there's a reason it looks brand new.
11:05Okay.
11:06It's been in the bag.
11:07It's been in the bag for a year.
11:08You just said you were not talking about it.
11:09You just talked a minute about it.
11:10Let's go to the driver.
11:11Wait, talk about your three wood.
11:12You've got the tops and skies with it.
11:14We're leaving it under there.
11:15That's staying in the cover?
11:16No, it's fine.
11:17Which one do you even have?
11:18Is it a Callaway?
11:19Yeah, it's the Rogue.
11:20I got the Elite, by the way.
11:22Old one up.
11:23And I thought you might actually move on to Driver.
11:25Because you've played the Rogue for probably three years.
11:29And it was great.
11:30Johnny Wonder fit me into a great, hit a lot of fairways.
11:33Just had a little too much spin of late.
11:35And the older I've gotten, I've wanted to hit it further for whatever reason.
11:38And so, messing around with the Blueboard and put it in the Rogue.
11:43And it knocked a little spin off.
11:44I was sitting good.
11:45I was like, man, I want to search.
11:47And so, like, just tried a bunch of drivers out.
11:49And this Tiles, it took my driver from the GT3.
11:53Spin numbers.
11:54Let's talk about spin numbers, George.
11:55I mean, like, the Callaway was 28 to 3100, like, consistently.
11:59Like, on a good one was 28.
12:01And now this one is, like, the high end spin is 25, 26 and down to, like, 23.
12:05So, I mean, I've picked up a little bit of ball speed.
12:08But, I mean, probably 10 to 15 yards just on, you know, getting that spin.
12:12And have you noticed, like, the launch is still kind of the same?
12:15Or is it a touch lower?
12:16Again, this one does fade a little more than the other one.
12:18But, again, my left miss really.
12:21It's more of a, it's a more powerful fade with this Tiles one than the Galloway one was a little weak.
12:27Did you have an eight degree in the Rogue as well?
12:29Or?
12:30I think I did.
12:31It was nine.
12:32It was nine turned down to a, or nine and a half to an eight and a half.
12:35Kind of playing the same.
12:36I mean, yeah.
12:37So, it's been fun.
12:38But, I'm actually, like, low key Tacoma just released their new driver that we've been messing around with.
12:42But then, like, probably this off season.
12:44I mean, off season, like, I'm a tournament player anymore.
12:46But this winter, like.
12:47Do some experimenting.
12:48But, no, this one's been, I mean, it's taken a lot of spin off.
12:51And, like, I think elevated my driving.
12:53You done talking about it yet?
12:54No, I love my driver.
12:55Loves it.
12:56Loves it.
12:57This right here.
12:58Again, this is one of those, for years and years, I searched for a driver.
13:02Because I was the worst driver on the PGA Tour for about five, six straight years.
13:06Okay.
13:07And, again, I hit it short, really, really crooked.
13:11And then, everyone kept telling me, go either shorter driver, heavier shaft, lower launch.
13:19Like, all the things to try and get you to hit it straight.
13:22And I ended up going with the lightest, stiffest shaft on the market.
13:27And started to try and hit it as high as possible.
13:29Okay.
13:30Nice.
13:31I like it.
13:32Because I had the full blown driver yips.
13:33And I was like, I can't, I can't play golf anymore.
13:36Like, if I keep playing golf like this, I'm going to quit.
13:38Like, there's just, it wasn't fun.
13:40It gets you committing though, right?
13:41If you, if you have to.
13:42Yes.
13:43I said, I want the lightest shaft possible, just so at least I can feel like I'm in control of it.
13:48Because I feel like I was losing the club head and just not really feeling anything.
13:53And I'd make what felt like decent swings and look up and it would be in all sorts of windows.
13:57Yeah.
13:58And so I said, give me the lightest, stiffest possible and let's just try it.
14:01Jason, our Mitsubishi guy, he goes, there's no way this is going to work.
14:05And same thing with the guys at Calway.
14:07There's no way it's going to work.
14:08I said, perfect.
14:09That means it's going to work.
14:10Yeah, exactly.
14:11That means it's going to work.
14:12So then anyway, started launching it at 16, 17 degrees.
14:15Same.
14:16He's a cheat code right now.
14:17And then picked up a lot of, I probably picked up 20, 30 yards.
14:21Wow.
14:22Pretty much overnight.
14:23So you've got a 50 TX in there for the guys watching.
14:25Yeah.
14:2650 TX.
14:27Very light, obviously very stiff as well.
14:29The GT, Diamonder GT.
14:31I would say just recently did a 65 gram shaft become popular on tour because mostly it was at 70 grams.
14:38Like 70 to 72 grams was very standard on tour for, and this one is I think at 51 grams.
14:44So.
14:45Yeah.
14:46It's considerably lighter.
14:47And you've got the triple Diamond Max.
14:49Yeah.
14:50So you've got that kind of low spin head, but you still got the profile of kind of the standard head as well.
14:55Yeah.
14:56So we just, the Paradigm a couple models ago, I guess, is the one that got me out of the driver-yip phase.
15:02And then they built up basically a replica of that head with the AI Smoke.
15:07And so this is where we're at now.
15:09But again, the Tacoma driver is coming with vengeance.
15:12Yeah.
15:13It'll be fun to mess around with.
15:14Yeah.
15:15I'm looking forward to seeing your guys testing.
15:16I'm going to have to try and get my hands on one as well just to do my own testing.
15:19So.
15:20The putter.
15:21Let's go to putters.
15:22DF3.
15:23A little Brian Bros.
15:24Lab collab.
15:25Lab collab.
15:26Head cover.
15:27Yeah.
15:28Yeah.
15:29It was fun.
15:30You know, this is, it looks cool.
15:32So yeah.
15:33But anyway, we've got the DF3.
15:34Nice.
15:35DPT shaft.
15:36Yep.
15:37Forward press grip.
15:38Yep.
15:39Same, same.
15:40Literally the only thing different about ours is his is one degree or two degrees flatter.
15:44And then I got the line that goes all the way across.
15:48Awesome.
15:49Yeah.
15:50And how did, how did you guys kind of end up in, in the labs?
15:53Were you just intrigued by everyone else using them?
15:56Yeah, no, just like, again, we're, you know, we're, we're willing to try a lot of things.
16:01Like, Hey, what?
16:02Like we've heard a lot about it.
16:03Let's try it.
16:04We were like, let's like, if the, if the hype is real, like if I don't, it improves my putter.
16:08Like why not?
16:09That's the main thing, right?
16:10You know?
16:11And I think again, the level, the level out here of like, you know, this pro golfers,
16:14is it going to help them that much?
16:15Maybe not.
16:16But what I've found is like, I don't have to practice as much.
16:18And I still start my ball in line more often, which again, for me, I don't know.
16:23I like that.
16:24That was big.
16:25And so I feel like it has improved that.
16:28But again, I was always a decent putter.
16:30So was it going to help a whole lot?
16:32Probably not.
16:33But would it, again, I don't practice as much as I used to.
16:35I'm still able to like, for the most part day in, day out, hit my start lines.
16:39I mean, it's cool.
16:40And like, yeah, it just feels good off the blade.
16:42Like it's the, it's the most solid, consistent feeling, even when you miss hit it.
16:47Did you guys experiment with the other lab models?
16:49Or were you kind of just straight into the-
16:51Touched them all.
16:52Touched them all.
16:53But again, I'll be honest, it took me a while to get used to it.
16:56And that's what like, Sam was like, stop trying to like, conform to the putter.
17:00Like, let it conform to you.
17:02Yeah.
17:03No, you just, you got that backwards.
17:04Yeah.
17:05You conformed to the putter.
17:06Yeah.
17:07But no, it was cool.
17:08Because again, it wasn't an overnight thing.
17:10You know, I was a blade, like, yeah.
17:13But again, once I did, I'm like, I can see why, like the sauce in it.
17:16Because I just realized, did you do this whole thing with a glove on?
17:19Yeah.
17:20Dedication.
17:21Yeah.
17:22No, it's just what I do.
17:24Well, thank you so much.
17:25George, thank you for joining us today.
17:28Wes, thank you.
17:29Good luck this week, guys.
17:30You forgot the biggest, the biggest part.
17:31Look, we got the shoobies on our bag.
17:32Yeah.
17:33I mean, I spoke about these off camera, how much I love them.
17:35I don't even know what they are.
17:36Some guy just say, hey, you don't wear-
17:37Everyone, everyone on tour is going to have these soon.
17:39And they're the boys, bro.
17:40No, no, no.
17:41Everybody on tour, they have those big, gaudy golf bags.
17:44And so, stand bags.
17:46That's ridiculous.
17:47We've got our logos on them.
17:48Yeah, they're very cool.
17:50I'm secretly jealous, so.
17:51They're local.
17:52I'm a George.
17:53Yeah.
17:54Awesome.
17:55Cool.
17:56Thank you very much, guys.
17:57Thank you, thank you.
17:58We'll see you next time.
17:59See ya.
18:00Bye.
18:01Bye.
