Waseem al-Assad appears before the Syrian judiciary as he faces charges of forming armed groups, drug trafficking, and killing civilians.

00:00For the first time since the fall of the regime, a name from the Assad family appears before the judiciary.
00:14The Syrian Ministry of Justice announced the referral of Wasim al-Assad, cousin of Bashar al-Assad,
00:21to the referral judge in preparation for his trial within the framework of transitional justice.
00:27Investigations revealed that he formed armed groups in coordination with the 4th Division,
00:35which was led by Ma'ar al-Assad, the brother of the ousted president.
00:40The accused is also charged with financing these groups with weapons and money,
00:46his involvement in intimidation and causing the killing of civilians,
00:50in addition to leading drug trafficking networks and Captagon production.
