Cambodia has pulled its entire team out of the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand amid a border conflict. The withdrawal comes after safety concerns and pleas from athletes’ families.

00:00Cambodia has pulled its entire sporting delegation out of the Southeast Asian Games in Thailand
00:06after renewed fighting along the border between the two countries.
00:10The National Olympic Committee of Cambodia informed organisers on Wednesday,
00:14saying the decision was made for safety reasons.
00:20In a letter to the SEA Games Federation, its chief, Vav Chamron,
00:24said families of the athletes had asked for their relatives to come home immediately.
00:28He added that the move was not taken lightly and apologised for the disruption.
00:33The Games opened in Bangkok on Tuesday and run until the 20th of December.
00:38But the long-standing border dispute has overshadowed the event.
00:42Cambodia had already withdrawn from eight spots before the opening ceremony.
