Transcript
00:00Ariana Grande spoke out against body shamers in a rare and candid TikTok to set the record straight about how she feels about recent comments from people who were, quote, concerned about her body.
00:11She said, I don't do this often. I don't like it. I'm not good at it.
00:15But I just wanted to address your concerns about my body and talk a little bit about what it means to be a person with a body and to be seen and to be paid such close attention to.
00:24I think we should be gentler and less comfortable commenting on people's bodies no matter what.
00:30Ariana added that even if someone's comments might be, quote, well-intentioned, in her opinion, it would be best not to comment at all.
00:37Saying, if you think you're saying something good or well-intentioned, whatever it is, healthy or unhealthy, big or small, this or that, sexy or not sexy, we should really work towards not doing that as much.
00:48There are ways to compliment someone or to ignore something you see that you don't like.
00:53I think we should help each other work towards just being safer and keeping each other safer.
00:57In the nearly four-minute-long video, the Grammy Award winner revealed that although some people thought that she was, quote, healthy in the past, she had actually been in the, quote, lowest point of her life.
01:09Ariana continued, I was on a lot of antidepressants and drinking on them and eating poorly and at the lowest point of my life when I looked the way you consider my healthy, but that in fact wasn't my healthy.
01:22Finally, Ariana concluded her message by sending love to her 30.4 million followers and called them beautiful in the process.
