00:00The city of Miami is one of the few large cities in the country run by a Republican
00:06mayor. But in this election on Tuesday, Democrats getting a chance to win it.
00:11This is a city with a very rich Cuban population.
00:15Democrats elsewhere is looking at this race in terms of how to show voters that they still
00:20can get the support from Latinos.
00:22It is a nonpartisan race.
00:24This is pitting former city manager Emilia Gonzalez, who has the support of President
00:28Donald Trump against County Commissioner Eileen Higgins, who is also receiving support from
00:34Democrats nationally.
00:36My goal is to make life better for everybody in Miami.
00:39I have a proven track record of doing it.
00:41That's why people are voting for me.
00:43So Democrats are looking at how to communicate with Latinos in an immigrant-rich community
00:49about policies they're seeing implemented by Trump.
00:52I do think that media is playing a huge role into swaying opinion as to what are the things
00:57that I should focus on.
00:58And the thing is like, I don't know, I mean, coming from an immigrant, I mean,
01:01you think things are bad until something worse comes into play.
