00:30But here's how we pulled it off.
00:32Take off your blindfolds. I trapped these 100 contestants.

01:04One mishap on a video this big can have consequences that affect the entire production.
01:10Unfortunately, a few days before the shoot, I made a little mistake while showing my friend
01:14speed around the studio.
01:15These are the sets for upcoming videos.
01:17I'm going to be honest.
01:18I think these are prototypes.
01:19These aren't the final ones.
01:20I accidentally showed this on the speed stream.
01:21I didn't realize I wasn't supposed to.
01:23I should have thought that through a little bit more.
01:24They have to solve the puzzle while the ceiling is coming down.

01:30If even one of our contestants saw this trap on his stream, then all of the contestants
01:34had to have an equal opportunity to see as well.

01:38So we ran a rehearsal and let the contestants see the trap in the puzzle in its entirety once
01:44before the challenge began.
01:45But there was still one problem.

01:51This first trap was designed to eliminate about two-thirds of our contestants.
01:55About 66 players within 45 seconds.
01:58Ideally allowing 34 players to move on.
02:01They can escape the next 45 seconds.
02:02We literally run our own staff through test after test to come up with these targets.
02:10But now all those tests were meaningless because everyone got a sneak peek beforehand.
02:15So instead of 45 seconds, we decided to lower the ceiling in 35 seconds.

02:39The mishap with speed did carry some consequences into the following challenge.

03:00In an ideal world, only 30 to 40 players would have advanced from the spike room trap.
03:05But 51 made it through to the next round.

03:13Seems like it's going to be a mess.

03:36They test this stuff each and every step along the way.

03:48A couple of weeks before this challenge on our Team Water live stream.
03:52I took three shots.
03:53You did multiple.
03:54And frankly.
03:55What the heck?
03:56It sucked.

05:03With as many contestants as we have and how big our sets are getting, there's a lot that go into our videos that you might not realize.
05:09When we're building massive sets like this, sometimes we have over a hundred people working on the project.
05:13From engineers to artists to creatives.
05:16And Slack gives them one spot where they can all communicate efficiently and effectively without having to switch between apps or use emails.

06:05And they're the ones who elevate our challenges without risking the safety of our contestants.
06:09And speaking of, post-production on a video this big is crazy.

06:15I want to show you how I keep me and all my editors on the same page when some are writing, you know, my voiceover.

06:22It looks like pilots pulling a plane.

06:31Pulling info from all of my meetings, different teams, work streams, documents, and channels.

06:42When I need to be pulled into a video review mid-shoot, we use Slack to communicate.
06:46Even when you're in important meetings, there's no need to take notes.
06:49Because Slack will summarize the conversations and take notes and even suggest next steps.
06:54For example, if I want to know all the safety precautions we took in our video where we put someone in a burning house,
07:00all I have to do is go scan the production channel and tell me all the safety precautions that were taken in this stunt.
07:05And then there you go.
07:06I don't have to scroll through thousands of messages.
07:08It will just summarize it for me.

08:03It almost ruined everything.
08:05Even though our traps go through rigorous testing, evolving through multiple variations,
08:10if you don't actually tell the contestants how the game works,
08:13then there's bound to be a mistake.
08:14Now, as you saw in the main channel video...

08:24Tomer made it through this trap onto the final four.
08:27That's because this time, we messed up.

09:12so we decided to re-explain the rules and run the trap a second time.

09:19While it definitely wasn't perfect, it was the fairest solution we had.

09:43Each contestant started out with three glass hearts in front of them,
09:46and they all had a chance to shoot a cannonball at whoever's glass heart they wanted.
09:51Once all three of the contestants' glass hearts were broken, they were eliminated.
09:55It's been fun.
09:56The last contestant remaining won the $100,000 trophy.
10:00But like most of our challenges, this one took months of planning,
10:03evolving from over 10 different versions.
10:05And after months of blueprints and ideas,
10:09this final set is what my incredible production team and I brought to life.
