"No airline will be permitted to cause such harships to passengers," said Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu as he pulled up IndiGo over the unprecedented crisis that left thousands stranded.
India’s largest airline cancelled and delayed hundreds of flights. Airports overflowed. Passengers were stuck for hours, with some sleeping on the floor, others desperately looking for alternatives. Some of them missed weddings, job interviews, exams and even medical appointments. For many, it became one of the worst travel crises.
Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu vowed to take strict action to set an example for other airlines while speaking in Lok Sabha. When Opposition MPs asked for a discussion on the crisis in Parliament, they staged a walkout after their demand was not accepted.
