00:00Mala nga nasa 20 atleta na may intellectual at developmental disabilities sa Philippine Gymnastics Team,

00:06selection nitong lunes, December 8, sa Brixton, Pasig City.

00:10May report si teammate Jamaica Bayaka.

00:14Nagsagawa ng national selection ang Special Olympics Pilipinas para sa Paragymnastics,

00:20isang bagong sports program na tututok sa mga atletang may intellectual at developmental disabilities.

00:26Layon nito na mabuo ang kauna-unahang Philippine Paragymnastics Team na sa Sabac sa 2027 World Games sa Chile.

00:34This is the first time na nagkaroon kami ng access sa gymnastic, na magkaroon ng skills evaluation for our athletes.

00:44Then nakita naman natin sobrang enjoy ng mga bata even na wala silang masyadong experience pa sa gymnastic.

00:52Ipinakita dito ang ilang mga mini-routines at ibinida ang potensyal ng mga batang hangad sumabak sa world stage.

00:59Isa na rito ang 25-anyos na si Dane Madera na may hearing and speech impairment.

01:05Mula track and field, susubukan ni Dane ang bagong karera bilang gymnast.

01:09Actually sa mga katulad ng anak ko with hearing and speech defect,

01:14hindi po siya hindrance para ma-experience pa yung mga bagong sports.

01:26Nakilala rin natin ang magkapatid na hangad mapasama sa team para naman sa men's division.

01:32My training about gymnastics like stretching, then cartwheel, just like monkey,

01:39like just like stretching like arms and split on my legs.

01:44I can do something. I can be strength. But today I'm making turn to flip.

01:50I can do something. We can do it else and we can find.

01:57Samantala, malaki naman ang paniniwala ng mga selection coaches sa mga talento at performance na ipinakita ng mga bata.

02:04Dito sa Special Olympics, mostly basic lang po talaga yung ginagawa nila kung ano yung kaya.

02:13As long as napafollow nila yung program.

02:16Mamit lang yung requirements and makapag-represent tayo for the Philippines.

02:22Just for them to enjoy the sport because it's a difficult sport normally.

02:27So for them to experience this kind of gymnastics is a very good opportunity for them.

02:34Layo ng Special Olympics Pilipinas na mas bigyan ng malawak na platform sa sports ang mga batang tulad nila at ipromote ang inclusivity.

02:43Katuwang nila ang Colab Gymnastics bilang pangunahing provider ng training venue at facilities para sa mga atleta.

02:50This is not about competition eh. This is about happiness ng mga bata.

02:55Nag-enjoy sila, nade-develop yung skills nila or madade-develop pa yung skills nila.

03:00Yun yung pinaka-importante.

03:01And bukod dun, yung inclusivity ng sports.

03:04Hindi lang selected yung sports na pwede nilang laruin.

03:07Merong bagong venue kasi naniniwala kami na sports is yung key para sa mas madade-develop pa yung buhay nila.

03:14So then yung sunod, syempre yung sana manalo, yun yung isa pang pinag-ahandahan namin.

03:20Actually non-profit kasi yung Colab.

03:23So yung beneficiaries namin are the Special Olympics specifically for gymnastics.

03:30So apart from yung mga anak ko nagtitrain dito, we're opening it up to anyone who wants to come.

03:37Bukod pa dito, pinag-ahandaan na rin ng SOP ang posibleng pag-launch ng mas madalas na local meets at regional trainings

03:44para makilala ang mas maraming kabataang may special needs at ma-inspire ang buong komunidad na suportahan sila sa sports.

03:52Sa likod ng bawat rutina at ensayo, kwento ng pag-asa ang baon ng bawat paragymnas na sa salang sa international stage.
