00:00We arrived on scene.
00:01Hello.
00:02Hello.
00:03And as we walked in, we see a little kid sitting at the table eating his breakfast with one
00:07of the managers.
00:08Hey, buddy.
00:09We asked where he came from, and he kept saying he walked to Chick-fil-A.
00:12You know where your house is, right, honey?
00:14It's right across the street right over there.
00:17Okay, cool.
00:18I have children, and you know, the first thing, you know, you get that knot in your stomach
00:22because you know somebody else who's a parent is missing their child.
00:25With no report filed by the parents, their five-year-old had to direct the police to
00:29his home.
00:30Are you going to show us where you live?
00:31Yeah.
00:32Okay.
00:33We gathered him up.
00:34Look at that.
00:35Say thank you.
00:36California.
00:37I walked him to the back of my patrol car.
00:38Are you going to get me in jail?
00:40No, I'm not going to put you in jail.
00:42And we started checking the ears.
00:43All right, buddy.
00:44Where's your house at?
00:45We're wondering where did this child come from?
00:47Is it right here?
00:48None of these doors are open.
00:49None of these garages are open.
00:50I don't live in a duck pond.
00:53But the child is their only form of direction.
00:55They need to keep things positive.
00:56So then he explained that he had a white fence.
00:59That's where it is.
01:00Right here?
01:01Yeah.
01:02And that's when we pulled up in the driveway.
01:04And then we realized that the call box wasn't working.
01:07We had no way to get through the gate.
01:09How about that?
01:10The home he supposedly escaped from was built like a fortress.
01:15My initial thoughts were, I can't believe he came out of here.
01:18It's the most secure house on that block in reference to having a fence all the way around,
01:23front, back, side.
01:24It's time to see what the parents have to say about all this.
01:26Police.
01:27I'm Phil.
01:28I'm Victoria.
01:29Good morning.
01:30Hey, good morning.
01:31Hey, do you have a son named Lee?
01:33William.
01:34Yeah, a little boy?
01:36Yeah.
01:37Our five-year-old William had an adventure a few weeks ago, and we live nearby very close.
01:42Yeah, he was down at the Chick-fil-A.
01:44Are you kidding me?
01:45No, we have him in our police car.
01:46If you could just see the look on his face, it would be for any parent, including myself.
01:50It's disbelief.
01:51The question now is, how did our little runaway escape, and why?
01:55It's kind of scary, actually, because we didn't realize what was going on until after
02:00we came out.
02:01Do you have any idea how he got out?
02:03Yeah, he got, unlike the front door, but he's never done that.
02:06I was worried about him because, was he scared?
02:08Was he crying?
02:09Was he upset?
02:10Come on, little man!
02:11He was quiet, which is unusual for him.
02:13Did you get scared?
02:16Why did you go to Chick-fil-A?
02:17You're welcome.
02:18I think it did shake him up some, so I don't think we really needed to, you know, impress
02:22too much that you shouldn't do it again, things like that.
02:24I think he understood that it was serious, but we did talk about it.
02:27He said he opened the gate and took Fonzo and went down the street.
02:30I know he knows how to get to Chick-fil-A because we walked there.
02:33I would have never expected him to come down here on his own in the morning before anybody
02:38else in the house was up.
02:39Two weeks later, a reunion was set up so their son could show his gratitude.
03:03It came down.
