00:00Well, what about free will?
00:02That bullet wouldn't have moved if you hadn't put your hand there.
00:04Either way we ran the tape, you made it happen.
00:08Don't try to understand it.
00:11Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the films that lose their spark over time due to further examination and or decreasing novelty.
00:19He went to that place where dreams are born.
00:25Number 10. Transformers Revenge of the Fallen
00:30For many Transformers fans, they found something to enjoy about the 2007 adaptation.
00:43It was loud, crazy fun, with Michael Bay's signature direction.
00:47The sequel tried a little too hard to expand the lore and follow Sam Wittike's story.
00:51Most people just wanted more action, but the lackluster plot and corny jokes rang hollow.
00:56What are we going to do with this shrimp taco?
00:57I'm just bubber capping his ass, throwing me the truck, and then nobody's going to know nothing, not me.
01:00Not in my trunk.
01:01You're a bumper car?
01:02What's up?
01:02Take it out.
01:03I'm hearing you, okay? I'm right here, and I can hear you.
01:06It also set up a greater universe of questionable sequels.
01:09The director extends himself too far, creating a mess of images that don't include much in the way of substance.
01:14You mostly wish you were watching the more charming original, or another Bay film altogether.
01:18Our races, united by a history long forgotten, and a future we shall face together.
01:27Number 9, Twilight
01:29I know what you are.
01:34See it.
01:37Vampire.
01:39There's nothing wrong with liking this kind of film, but it's been somewhat obvious to everyone else that it's just a hammy adaptation of a YA phenomenon.
01:46We're certainly glad that it made stars out of Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson.
01:50Both performers aren't given the best material, trying to make something out of this vampire soap opera.
01:55You better hold on tight, spider monkey.
02:00The nostalgic feelings begin to fade when you realize that it's not a great genre film, fantasy plot, or romance.
02:06It certainly had a hold on pop culture, but it doesn't hold up as a compelling adventure.
02:10I leave you alone for two minutes, and the wolves descend.
02:15Number 8, The Hangover Part 3
02:18Even if you held out hope, The Hangover Part 3 was basically a letdown.
02:29The second film tried out a new location, and relied on the goodwill of the original.
02:33In the third part, the filmmakers brought everything back to Vegas to capture whatever magic was left.
02:38The result was ultimately a retread that didn't have much else to say.
02:49Audiences could still see Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, and Zach Galifianakis having fun together, but that wasn't enough.
02:55Most of your enjoyment of this one relies on nostalgia, or winks to the first one.
03:00It turns out that the same location, cast, and similar story elements make everything seem stale.
03:06Leslie, get down from there!
03:07Please, you're gonna hurt yourself!
03:09Nothing hurts, child!
03:11I am invisible!
03:13Number 7, The Room
03:14I did not hit her. It's not true. It's bullshit. I did not hit her. I did not.
03:20Oh, hi, Mark.
03:21Directed by Tommy Wiseau, this disaster went from a failure to a cult classic.
03:26Some people still swear by it as one of the best bad movies ever.
03:30You might have found yourself watching it and laughing at the unintentional comedy.
03:33The Room is a strange combination of odd choices, with Wiseau failing to make anything come together.
03:38Where in the hell did you meet that man?
03:40What kind of drugs do you take?
03:42It's nothing like that.
03:43What the hell is wrong with you?
03:45Even as an ironic watch, the movie starts to lose its effect after a while.
03:48Not everyone wants to watch just a terrible film like this all the time, either.
03:52Certain circles swear by it or go to special screenings, but the rest of us can't quite take it anymore.
03:57Here you go.
03:58That's me.
04:00How much is it?
04:01It'll be $18.
04:02Here you go. Keep the change.
04:03Hi, doggie.
04:04You're my favorite customer.
04:05Thanks a lot. Bye.
04:06Bye-bye.
04:07Number 6, Crash
04:08You can put your career and mine on the line in pursuit of a just cause.
04:14Or you can admit to having an embarrassing problem of a personal nature.
04:19It might be an Oscar-winning movie, but Crash has developed a reputation as one of the lesser Best Picture winners.
04:25The ensemble drama features big names and lots of melodrama.
04:28For some viewers, the movie connects as a piercing story about race, class, and other social divisions.
04:34Others have noted that it's overwrought and less than convincing.
04:37I'm hoping that someone like yourself, someone who may have been given a helping hand,
04:41might have a little compassion for someone in a similar situation.
04:44Carol, I need security in my office.
04:47While it includes stars like Matt Dillon and Sandra Bullock, this story seems more shallow with a closer look.
04:52It feels like a plot that wants to be deep rather than one that actually works.
04:56The filmmakers might have aimed for something more profound, but this mangled script mostly churns out an empty result.
05:01Give me that truck.
05:02That's not my truck, bro.
05:04Oh!
05:05Hello, the Beth.
05:05Number 5.
05:07Bohemian Rhapsody
05:08What is that?
05:09It's an epic poem.
05:10It goes on forever six bloody minutes.
05:12My pity your wife if you think six minutes is forever.
05:16Many Queen fans liked this musical trip down memory lane.
05:20Bohemian Rhapsody venerates the band, but it fails to be much more than a few lip-sync sessions.
05:24Rami Malek won an Oscar for playing Freddie Mercury, but even his work feels more like an impression rather than a staggering performance.
05:30The film's weird editing decisions only make it all more confusing.
05:43So this is Queen.
05:44In terms of the history, the movie also skips over important pieces of the puzzle.
05:50Mercury, his life, and his eventual illness seem to be either neglected or altered.
05:54The best part might be the Live Aid sequence, but audiences could easily just go and watch the actual concert.
05:59All we hear is radio gaga, radio goo goo, radio gaga.
06:07Number 4.
06:08Star Wars The Force Awakens
06:10We'll figure it out.
06:12We'll use the Force.
06:13That's not how the Force works.
06:15Restarting the Star Wars franchise in the 2010s, J.J. Abrams relied on viewer nostalgia to make The Force Awakens.
06:25The story focuses on Rey, Finn, and Poe coming together to fight the First Order.
06:30When you give it some more thought, this entry in the series fits a little bit too much like older entries.
06:34You could even compare some of the plot and setting to A New Hope.
06:37This doesn't even include the attempts at fan service, or having to bring back older cast members.
06:42Abrams craps more than a few engaging sequences, but he feels caught between a campaign to satisfy older fans,
06:55while giving newer ones a poor imitation of the sci-fi brand.
07:06Number 3.
07:07500 Days of Summer
07:08You were so completely, completely uncool in there.
07:11Wait, are you mad at me?
07:12I just got my ass kicked for you.
07:15Oh really, was that for me?
07:16Was that for my benefit?
07:18Yes, it was.
07:19In this rom-com from 2009, the lead character becomes obsessed with a manic pixie dream girl.
07:24Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel can be lovable in this comedy.
07:27As you grow older, you realize that their roles are more annoying and misguided than you originally thought.
07:32Gordon-Levitt has even spoken about how many people don't understand the movie.
07:35After all the fun and games, Tom becomes a sad sack that can't quite move on from Summer.
07:40So Tom, what is it that you do?
07:42I, uh, I write greeting cards.
07:44Tom could be a really great architect if he wanted to be.
07:48That's unusual.
07:49The central dynamic can become a little too sentimental and quirky for its own good.
07:53It might have been nice the first time, but subsequent viewings make this story harder to watch.
07:57True love and all that childhood fairy tale nonsense.
08:02You were right, I should have listened to you.
08:05No.
08:05Yeah, boy, why are you smiling?
08:09Number 2.
08:10Revenge of the Nerds.
08:11Get your father's good looks.
08:13You got a great sense of humor.
08:17This movie is considered a comedy classic by some, but it's slowly becoming something worse over time.
08:23The film focuses on a group of nerdy guys that fight back against their jock oppressors.
08:27It sounds like a fun tale, but it includes some not-so-great detours.
08:30One of the more controversial scenes follows one character tricking someone into sex.
08:34In today's world, you probably wouldn't see this kind of scene at all.
08:47The remainder of the film is a hodgepodge of poorly aged jokes, tired tropes, and off-putting dialogue.
08:53In between all of this, there are a few moments that earned it a fan base.
08:56It's far from perfect, but watching it through a modern lens only makes this 80s project seem outdated.
09:02You and your boys rebuild theirs.
09:03And where the hell are we going to live?
09:06Yeah, what about us, huh?
09:08You're jocks.
09:09Go live in the gym.

09:26Number 1.
09:27Mother.
09:31Come here!
09:32Wait!
09:33Stop!
09:33What's wrong with you?
09:34Stop!
09:37Stop!
09:37Stop!
09:38From Requiem for a Dream to The Wrestler, Darren Aronofsky does not shy away from gritty subject matter.
09:43His film, Mother, stars Jennifer Lawrence in a terrifying metaphor about creation.
09:48Taking a biblical look at a woman and her relationship, the movie quickly becomes an unrelenting experience.
09:54Look at me.
09:55I'm about to have our baby.
09:58Why is that not enough for you?
09:59Of course it's enough.
10:01You might want to look away or stop the film as the main character endures awful treatment.
10:05It's one that might be too intense for the average moviegoer.
10:08Aronofsky is no stranger to testing his audiences, doing so here with reckless abandon.
10:12His religious allegory unfolds in one upsetting moment after the other.
10:16It goes without saying, but you'll probably only make it through one sitting.
10:19There's some compelling content, but it doesn't quite justify repeated viewings.
10:24Can you hear that?
10:26No!
10:27No!
10:29No!
10:31Do we forget another notable film that degrades over time?
