00:05Michelle Obama's blunt message last month is now getting back up from one of the most influential voices in Democratic politics.
00:12The former first lady made waves when she told Tracee Ellis Ross that America still is not ready for a woman president,
00:20pointing to the 2024 election and saying the country has a lot of growing up to do. Remember this?
00:25Well, as we saw in this past election, sadly, we ain't ready.
00:32That's why I'm like, don't even look at me about running because you all are lying.
00:36You're not ready for a woman. You are not. So don't waste my time.
00:42You know, we got a lot of growing up to do.
00:45Now House Democratic kingmaker Jim Clyburn is saying she's right.
00:49He told NBC's Meet the Press that history speaks for itself.
00:52Michelle Obama is absolutely correct.
00:56If you look at the history, we demonstrated that we were not ready.
01:00These are incredible women who have run Hillary Clinton, Kamala Harris.
01:05And I think that we are getting there.
01:08That's why we can't afford to turn the clock back.
01:11But Clyburn also insists that not ready doesn't mean to stop running.
01:15He says the next breakthrough may be just before the dawn and that women have to stay in the fight to get there.
