00:09The bill puts one billion U.S. dollars towards helping Taiwan build up its self-defense.
00:15It also requires the U.S. Defense Department to start a joint drone development program
00:20with Taiwan by March 1.
00:22A proposal to invite Taiwan to the upcoming U.S.-led RIMPAC military exercises was left
00:28out of the final draft.
00:29But it does call for joint training between the country's Coast Guards and broader regional
00:34integration with allies.
00:35Congress is set to vote on the bill this week.
00:38If passed, it will head to the president for his signature.
