00:08For people all around the world, the coastal dream is just a move away.
00:19The wow factor views have to be there.
00:21It'd be great if there was a beach too, eh?
00:23Makes me excited to think about Mabby growing up on the East Coast on the beach, little beach bum.
00:29I'm Rachel.
00:30And I'm Justin.
00:31And we've been married for almost nine years and together for almost 14 years.
00:35We're looking to move to the East Coast.
00:38We've been in Ontario for the last 10 years and we love it, but we just feel like that's really missing from our day-to-day life is being able to connect with nature.
00:46So that's sort of the driving force for us.
00:49We have a three-year-old son named Maverick.
00:51He is such a funny guy.
00:53He makes us laugh every single day.
00:55And an 11-year-old dog named Stevie.
00:57She's been quite the adventure dog in her 11 years of life.
01:01And when she was quite little, we bought a school bus, turned it into our own tiny home.
01:05And we converted that engine to run on vegetable oil and we traveled all over North America.
01:11Definitely smelled like french fries.
01:13Good chunk of the time.
01:14Yeah.
01:14So Maverick, we've been taking him in the water since he was really little.
01:19So he's been introduced to it at a young age.
01:22We both love to surf, to paddle, whether that be powerboarding, canoeing.
01:28We want somewhere that Maverick can be raised to really enjoy the water and not be part of his day-to-day life.
01:34And I think as humans, we have a natural draw to the water.
01:37And this is just something that's calling our hearts right now.
01:40We do have a pretty extensive wish list.
01:44Obviously, very close to the water, if not right on the water.
01:48We'd prefer at least three bedrooms, one bath.
01:51Whatever house we find needs to be able to make room for both of us to work from home and hopefully not kill each other.
01:59So we really like the kind of rustic feel.
02:02Rustic charm meets modern.
02:04Ideally, something with a more open floor plan.
02:07We don't like rooms to feel too closed off.
02:09I like to be able to see Maverick when he's playing, when I'm cooking in the kitchen.
02:13Ideally, there'd be a place to store all our toys and a little place to do projects.
02:19Some other separate living space where we can have friends and family come stay with us.
02:25I think for me, the property is more important than the actual house.
02:28You can fix the house.
02:29You can upgrade.
02:30You can do all kinds of things.
02:31But you can't really change the property.
02:33Our budget is about $800,000 for our new home.
02:38So for some time now, we've both been saying a change is coming.
02:42There's a change brewing.
02:44We've built a really nice life for ourselves in Ontario over the last 10 years.
02:48So it really needs to be somewhere special.
02:51I think we've honed in on the area that we want to focus our search on, and that's the Eastern Shore.
02:57It seems like it's got a pretty good price point, but you're still close to the city.
03:01And there's some really, really beautiful beaches along this part of Nova Scotia.
03:06And we're really looking forward to the hunt.
03:08So our realtor out east is Jack.
03:13Jack is incredibly positive.
03:15He's just a funny guy.
03:17So far, we've only met Jack via video chat and phone calls.

03:25So today we're in Popeswick, which has so much to offer buyers.
03:29You have Martinique Beach just down the road that has awesome surfing, great spot to bring the family, enjoy the beach.
03:36So this property meets Justin Rachel's wish list because it has the land.

03:44It does have some historic vibes, if you will, to it, while also offering some modern upgrades.

20:01So we're still settling in, kind of making the house our own.

20:13Really, it was the backyard and the outdoor living that really sealed the deal.
20:17So we were definitely willing to sacrifice a little when it came to space and usable rooms,
20:24considering how the property works for our family and our new way of life.
20:28Here, it's like living inside a nature show.
20:31Literally, when we wake up, we have deer looking in, watching us sleep.
20:35In the first two weeks of being here, we had bobcat right in our backyard,
20:39foxes almost on the daily.
20:41It's pretty cool.
