00:00I was just trying to scare the thief away, but suddenly, due to the sudden ringing of the bell, I was scary and pulled the trigger.

00:07My wife rushed into the living room and the lights came on.

00:10I saw the stranger I'd shot blood pouring from his eye.

00:13My hands were still shaking when the police arrived at the scene moments later.

00:16The sheriff identified the intruder as a wanted criminal named Freddy.

00:20He told me not to worry. It was clearly self-defense.

00:22To close the case, I needed to head down to the station to give my statement.

00:26Sitting in the back of the police car, I couldn't believe I'd actually killed someone.

00:28When I got home, my wife and I collapsed on the floor, staring at the blood splattered on the wall.

03:05But because of the heavy rain, the officers searching outside couldn't find any trace of him.

03:09The next morning, I got a call from a sheriff.

03:12He said they'd caught the old man and were about to send him to prison.

03:14I finally felt relieved.

03:15Feeling like the danger had passed, I excitedly headed to the station.

03:20But after finishing my statement, I noticed wanted posters on the wall.

03:23When I saw Freddy's name, I stepped closer to take a look.

03:25To my shock, this Freddy wasn't the man I'd killed that night.

03:28I showed the poster to the sheriff and asked him about it.

03:31But he insisted this was the same person I'd shot.

03:33That is not the guy.

03:34He said I was probably so stressed that my memory had gotten fuzzy.

03:38Before I could get a clear explanation, the sheriff rushed me out of the station.

03:41But I knew I hadn't misremembered.

03:43So that evening, I went back to the station to ask more questions.

03:46That's when I saw the sheriff and his men loading the old man into a car.

04:03Watching this unfold, I was completely stunned.

04:10And why were they trying to get rid of Freddy's father?

04:12Before I could process what was happening, I heard the train approaching.

04:16After a moment's hesitation, I made my decision.

04:19I needed to know the truth, so I rushed out to save the old man.
