Messi hailed for 'major' MLS impact after World Cup heroics

LA Galaxy legend Cobi Jones praised Lionel Messi's impact in Miami, describing the Argentine as a 'superstar'.

00:03I liken it, you know, from my era, it's like when David Beckham came.

00:06You know, wherever he goes, you know, stadiums sell out.

00:09You know, that's what it's like when you have the superstars come into the league.

00:13So to have Messi come in, I was never able to talk about this really

00:18when he first came into the league,

00:20but I think it was probably one of the most impactful things

00:23that Messi came into this league right after winning a World Cup.

00:27So there was no one that could say, oh, because we hear it a lot here,

00:32oh, you're going to a retirement league.

00:34Just won the World Cup and arguably the best player on his team

00:38leading Argentina through that World Cup.

00:40So it was fantastic to see him come in and put this league on his back as well

00:45and help support it and build it up.
