00:00Chapter 1. My Body
00:02Our body is like a machine. It is more wonderful than a machine.
00:08It can do many things which a machine cannot do.
00:12Our body is made up of many parts. We can see some parts of our body.
00:18They are called the external parts. We cannot see some parts of our body.
00:24They are called the internal parts.
00:26All parts of our body do special jobs.
00:30Head, forehead, ear, neck, chest, belly, fingers, knee, toe, foot, leg, hand, arm, shoulder, mouth, nose, eye, hair.
00:50Let us learn about some parts of our body.
00:53External parts
00:54The main external parts of our body are head, neck, limbs, chest and abdomen.
01:03Head
01:03The head is the topmost part of the body. It is very hard. It contains the brain.
01:10The brain helps us to think and remember. It also controls the functions of all other parts of the body.
01:18Neck
01:19The neck joins the head to the rest of the body. It helps us move our body in different locations.
01:26Chest and abdomen
01:28The chest and the abdomen form the middle part of our body. The chest protects the lungs and the heart. The abdomen contains the liver, the stomach and the intestines.
01:42Limbs
01:43Limbs
01:44We have two limbs. Upper limbs and lower limbs. We have two upper limbs.
01:50They have small parts called hands and arms. Each hand consists of fingers and thumbs. The arm consists of wrist, forearm, elbow and shoulder.
02:03We use our upper limbs. We use our upper limbs to do various activities. Eat, signal, write, lift things, hold things, paint.
02:15We have two lower limbs. We have two lower limbs. Each lower limb has a leg and a foot. The leg consists of the hip, thigh, knee and calves.
02:25Leg
02:27The foot consists of the ankle, heel and toes. We use our leg and feet for running, walking, jumping, cycling and many more things.
02:43Run, jump, play, sense organs. Our sense organs, the eyes, ears, nose, tongue and skin are also known as magic organs. These magic organs help us learn about the things around us.
03:01The information that our sense organs receive are called sensations. The five senses are sight, hearing, smell, touch and taste. Our eyes, that helps us to see, have eyelids, which can be shut or opened.
03:20We also have tears in our eyes. We also have tears in our eyes. They keep the eyes wet. We hear sounds with our ears. Different sounds help us understand the word around us better.
03:33For example, the honking of a car tells us that we should move out of the way. The sense of taste in our tongue tells us the difference between salty, sweet, bitter and sore tastes.
03:49We breathe and smell things through our nose. The hair in our nose act as a filter and clean the air that we breathe. The sense of touch in our skin helps us feel. They tell the difference between a rough wall and a smooth glass even without looking at them.
04:10Our sense organs help us feel. Our sense organs help us feel. Our sense organs help us a lot in our daily life. So, we should take care of them. Our eyes are the most sensitive organ.
04:21We should not read in dim light or in a moving vehicle. We should visit an eye doctor at least once a year and get our eyes tested.
04:31We should take special care of our ears too. We should not listen to music at very high volume. Some people develop a weak eyesight over time. They use spectacles or contact lenses for clear vision. Similarly, some people cannot hear well and wear a hearing aid which makes sounds loud and clear.
04:55The main internal organs inside our body are the brain, heart, lungs and stomach. Our brain lies in the head. It controls all the organs of the body and their functions.
05:11Our heart sends blood to all the parts of our body. Our lungs helps us to breathe. The food we eat gets digested in our stomach. We must chew our food well so that it is easily digested. In the higher classes, you will learn more about the internal organs of our body.
