00:09Instead, it killed this man, Khaled al-Masood.

00:14His relatives and Syrian officials say al-Masood had been working undercover,

00:19infiltrating Islamic State cells to help gather intelligence on the extremists.

00:30His family was informed later that he was dead.

01:00They believe he was targeted based on faulty intelligence provided by members of the Syrian Free Army.

01:07They're demanding an investigation.

01:10Neither the U.S. military nor Syria's government has commented.

01:14But his death shows just how complicated the U.S. mission has become
