00:00My friend and I would like to welcome you to this visit at Windsor
00:26Windsor to welcome to the city. It came to me as if our
00:33city visit in Germany in 2023 was the first night of my Thronbesteigung,
00:43the first star. At this visit and at the previous visit, they and their
00:52beherrte Frau, my Frau and me, showed me a lot of happiness.
01:00We are more than happy that we can welcome you here in Windsor as our
01:08guests. This is the special friendship that our country
01:17will be. It is wonderful to be joined this evening. We have of course experienced
01:27the darkest times and the most terrible consequences of conflict. But perhaps now,
01:34so many decades later, the acknowledgement of past suffering has
01:38become the basis for an honest friendship, renewed and redoubled.
01:45So looking ahead, Herr Bundespräsident, we have a responsibility to our citizens
01:52and to our European neighbours, as well as the wider world, to speak about the shared
01:58values of the United Kingdom and Germany. To the restoration of our peaklands, to the
02:04promise of nuclear, our partnership continues to adapt to new times. We now find ourselves
02:11at the forefront at the forefront of a global transformation. The search for a way of living
02:17that is at once prosperous, humane and sustainable. Here, as elsewhere, Britain and Germany stand shoulder
02:27to shoulder, guided not only by technology and science, but by conscience. All the friendships
02:36forged in classrooms and on playing fields. And more broadly, of course, the United Kingdom
02:42and Germany together stand with Ukraine and bolster Europe against the threat of further Russian aggression.
02:50It also reminds us that the Fortschrift must not be loud.
02:58It is a number that belongs to my early personal memories of the United Kingdom. A number that belongs to me as a
03:09the number of the United Kingdom, which is the number of the years, which is the number of the
03:14countries that are forever untrennbar with their land. The number of countries is 95,4. 95,4.
03:2295,4, das war die Frequenz des British Forces Broadcasting Service, BFBS. Die Frequenz, die man während
03:32meiner Kindheit in meiner Heimatregion Lippe-Detmold empfangen konnte.
04:15Your Majesty, when you last visited Germany, we planted a tree together, an ash tree in the
04:23palace garden of Schloss Bilby, a symbol of friendship and I can assure you it is still growing
04:32and thriving there today and with it I think our relations. The roots of these relations are deep.
04:41Our history binds us together, both the good and the bad chapters.
04:53Thank you very much.
