Blake Lively jokes that “they made a bad decision” after reports that she supposedly beat out Jennifer Lawrence for the infamous role of Serena Van der Woodsen on the CW hit series 'Gossip Girl.'

00:02Blake Lively jokes that, quote,

00:05they made a bad decision after reports that she supposedly beat out Jennifer Lawrence

00:10for the infamous role of Serena Vanderwoodsen on the CW hit series Gossip Girl.

00:14The show's co-creator Josh Schwartz recently told Vulture that the Oscar winner

00:18almost had her big break playing the stylish Upper East Sider,

00:22but the role eventually went to none other than Blake Lively.

00:25When THR caught up with Lively at the Four Seasons Los Angeles in Beverly Hills

00:29on October 10th, the actress joked that she's still not buying it.

00:33I take it with a grain of salt and think,

00:35wow, that would be really interesting if it was true,

00:38but I wonder if it's true, so I shouldn't comment on it.

00:41But if the rumors are true, Lively says,

00:44boy, if she did, they made a bad decision.

00:48Although Schwartz can't remember whether or not he saw the tape in question,

00:52he claims the mother star did audition and really wanted to play the part.

00:56This story came to us second hand, but we were told she definitely auditioned

01:00and was bummed to not get it, he said.

01:02As for Lively, she next stars in the Mark Forrester-directed All I See Is You,

01:06a role that required her to break through some personal boundaries and push her artistic choices.

01:11Playing a blind woman who regains her sight while facing marital turmoil,

01:15the role required the first nudity of her career and some on-screen singing.

01:20Said Lively,

01:21I'm not a singer, I sang in this movie. I'm not a musician, but I played a guitar in this movie.

01:26I'm not a nudist, I was naked in this movie. I'm not blind and I played blind in this movie.

01:31So it was really challenging.
