00:00:00Music
00:00:16Looking out a dirty old window
00:00:19Down below the cars in the city go rushing by
00:00:24I sit here alone and I wonder why
00:00:30Friday night and everyone's blue
00:00:33I can feel the heat but it's soothing heading down
00:00:38I search for the feed in this deadytown
00:00:43Downtown the onwards are growing
00:00:45Downtown the onwards are growing
00:00:48We're the kids in America
00:00:51We're the kids in America
00:00:54Everybody listen to the music around
00:00:58Bright lights and music gets faster
00:01:04Look, boy, don't check on your watch
00:01:06Not another glance
00:01:08I'm not leaving now, honey, not a chance
00:01:14Hot shot, give me no problems
00:01:19Much later, baby, you'll be saying never mind
00:01:24You know life is cruel, life is never pain
00:01:28Kind hearts will make a new story
00:01:31Kind hearts will grab a new glory
00:01:34We're the kids in America
00:01:36Whoa
00:01:37We're the kids in America
00:01:38Whoa
00:01:40Everybody listen to the music around
00:01:41It is so the music around
00:01:42Say
00:01:43Come close to honey, that's bad
00:02:00Got to get a brand new experience feeling right
00:02:05Oh, don't try to stop baby
00:02:09Hold me tight
00:02:11Outside a new day is gone
00:02:15Outside suburbia is crawling everywhere
00:02:19I don't want to go, baby
00:02:24New York to East California
00:02:27There's a new wave coming, I warn ya
00:02:31We're the kids in America
00:02:33We're the kids in America
00:02:36Everybody listen to music
00:02:39They go round
00:02:40Say
00:02:46We're the kids
00:03:08We're the kids, we're the kids in America
00:03:12We're the kids, we're the kids
00:03:15So this is a really interesting experience for me
00:03:20Because I very rarely sit and watch myself
00:03:23I'm just not very good at watching myself and being far too critical
00:03:27Today of course I'm faced with my past and I'm making myself look at it
00:03:31And now I'm in my 65th year and I'm looking at it's just, it's really quite surreal and wonderful
00:03:38Wow!
00:03:39I've been watching Top of the Pops since I was about eight I think
00:03:42I couldn't believe I was there on the stage on that programme that I'd adored all my life really
00:03:48I was told afterwards, oh you look so cool and moody and cool but actually I was terrified and overwhelmed
00:03:57You know I was 20 years old and Madness was standing right in front of me and I'd just been buying their records and they were
00:04:04They were quite a leery lot, they're someone to be pretty scared of and under any circumstances
00:04:09I'm wearing my dad's dinner jacket and I'm wearing my mum's jeans for sure
00:04:14I never would have had a cool pair of jeans like that
00:04:16You have to remember I was still living at home
00:04:19I was cutting my own hair because it was very very expensive at the time and I hated taking money off my mum and dad
00:04:24That was who I was standing on stage, I was a sort of self-made creation
00:04:28Mostly to do with penny pinching
00:04:39Hi folks, we're live with Adam the Antler, brand new number one on Top of the Pops
00:04:44Seven other live acts for you
00:04:46And right now for starters, who else but Keir Lyles

00:05:38With no reason, yeah
00:05:40You're the man with no pain
00:05:43Well I know your love is rough
00:05:47And the road to take the time
00:05:49But I just can't get the love
00:05:52Check it out!
00:05:56Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
00:05:58I can't let go
00:05:59Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
00:06:03I can't let go
00:06:04But I need to stop tonight
00:06:06Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
00:06:36Everything's alright
00:06:38I say nothing can't go right
00:06:40Yeah, oh, what a game you can play
00:06:43Sad days add to confusion
00:06:48Sad ways end to delusion
00:06:51Play an accidental game
00:06:54Well I know your love is rough
00:06:58And the road to take is hard
00:07:01But I just can't get the love
00:07:04Check it out!
00:07:07Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
00:07:09I can't let go
00:07:11Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
00:07:14I can't let go
00:07:16Cause I need to stop tonight
00:07:18So by the time checkered love comes along
00:07:28You can see I'm a much bouncier girl
00:07:32I've got lots more confidence
00:07:33Same genes though
00:07:34Yeah, so Marty and Ricky were charged with writing me hit after hit
00:07:37There was a lot of pressure to that, obviously
00:07:38My style rose very, very quickly
00:07:39All of a sudden I was on a lot of covers of magazines
00:07:41And there was a lot of intense work
00:07:42And there was a lot of intense work
00:07:43So by the time checkered love comes along
00:07:44So by the time checkered love comes along
00:07:45You can see I'm a much bouncier girl
00:07:46Yeah, so Marty and Ricky were charged with writing me hit after hit
00:07:53There was a lot of pressure to that, obviously
00:07:55My style rose very, very quickly
00:07:57All of a sudden I was on a lot of covers of magazines
00:08:00And there was a lot of intense interest in me
00:08:03Not just in the UK but all over the world
00:08:05So I was spending a lot of time in airports
00:08:07And dressing rooms and travelling
00:08:09And they were charged with coming up with the hits
00:08:12And they did an amazing job
00:08:13Yeah, they were inspired, you know
00:08:15Of course we all were really inspired
00:08:17This was great, you know
00:08:19I was a 20-year-old being a pop star
00:08:21And my father had always loved songwriting
00:08:24And Ricky was a developing writer
00:08:25And their combined talent was just an astonishing gift for me
00:08:45Well, he was tired and faced, she was an apple's wife
00:08:55He used to fly with cans, it was the easier life
00:09:01But then he turned around and he began to change
00:09:18She didn't wonder then, she didn't think it strange
00:09:22But then he got a call, he had to leave the night
00:09:27He couldn't say too much, but it would be alright
00:09:31He didn't need to pack, they'd be the next night
00:09:35He had a job to do, fly to California
00:09:40And as the mountains passed by, she tried to trace the past
00:09:54The way he used to look, the way he used to laugh
00:09:58And as the mountains passed by, she tried to trace the past
00:10:05The way he used to look, the way he used to laugh
00:10:10I guess you'll never know what got inside
00:10:14So she couldn't make it out, just couldn't take it off
00:10:18He had the sad life that ruined everything
00:10:23He used to cry sometimes, and though he lived a dream
00:10:27And if she had to cross, he used to search her place
00:10:31And thought she knew the truth, that's inside California
00:10:57But when the world came through, they saved it soon
00:11:01She had to pack the case
00:11:04And they would make a wrong day for you
00:11:08But now a year has passed
00:11:12And I think the world
00:11:15And all the love she knew
00:11:17Has disappeared out in the haze
00:11:31And now we hear the past
00:11:58We might have seen the world
00:12:00But there is only one thing left
00:12:03I know for sure
00:12:07And she won't see his face again
00:12:30Ten little Indians standing in a row
00:12:34All dressed up but nowhere to go
00:12:37Looking for a target, looking for a man
00:12:46Just get me out of here
00:12:54It's not the place my mind's been faking on
00:12:58Just push me out again
00:13:02It's one thing right here
00:13:04And I hate it on
00:13:11With the seven in linear standing in a row
00:13:14The comp had watched on the stage
00:13:16And he said zero
00:13:18OK.
00:13:24There's no good in the song, don't cut it.
00:13:27Just get me out of here.
00:13:29It's not the place my monster's thinking on.
00:13:35Just push me out again.
00:13:38It's ladies hanging around.
00:13:40I'm hanging out.
00:13:43Just get me out of here.
00:13:46Come on, let's go tonight.
00:13:49We got a brand new way.
00:13:51Celebrating, oh, oh.
00:13:54I got this place to love.
00:13:56Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:13:57It's all right.
00:13:58We could be feeling great.
00:14:00Dedicated, oh, oh.
00:14:02I got this place to love.
00:14:09Three little Indians crying in the makeup.
00:14:12Nobody stops and nobody cares.
00:14:17Just get me out of here.
00:14:19It's not the place my monster's thinking on.
00:14:24Just push me out again.
00:14:29It's no use hanging around.
00:14:31I'll hang out.
00:14:33Flip, flip, bop, bop.
00:14:35Yeah, yeah.
00:14:36Flip, flip, bop, bop.
00:14:38Come on, let's go tonight.
00:14:40Let's go tonight.
00:14:41We got a brand new way to celebrate it.
00:14:45Oh, I got this place tonight.
00:14:48Baby, it's all right.
00:14:50And if you're feeling great, dedicate it home.
00:14:55I got this place tonight.
00:15:10Baby, it's all right.
00:15:20Come on, let's go tonight.
00:15:22We got a brand new way to celebrate it.
00:15:25Oh, I got this place tonight.
00:15:29Baby, it's all right.
00:15:31And if you're feeling great, dedicate it home.
00:15:35I got this place tonight.
00:15:38Baby, it's all right.
00:15:40I got this place tonight.
00:15:42I got this place tonight.
00:16:04I'd ride for my dad's wardrobe a few times for a few rock
00:16:08and roll jackets, which I will always keep and love.
00:16:13And yeah, my roots have always been rock and roll.
00:16:15Now when I'm playing live all the time, it's very rocky.
00:16:18And that's the foundation of our sound and the way we play live.
00:16:24I love touring.
00:16:25I love performing live.
00:16:26Most of all, what I really love doing is singing.
00:16:29I really love singing.
00:16:30When I got involved in the music industry initially, I wanted to be a session singer.
00:16:36That didn't work out because I recorded a song called Kids in America, which dictated the rest of my life.
00:16:42I would have been happy without fame, for sure.
00:16:45Fame wasn't the thing I was after.
00:16:49What I was after is actually what I've got more now, which is I do more singing now than I did probably back in the 80s.
00:16:58Being on stage is such a privilege.
00:17:01And you see all these people out there looking at you and you go, wow, wow, they've seen me.
00:17:07I'd better pull something out the bag, you know.
00:17:10I can't just walk on with a cup of tea and say, hi, how are you doing?
00:17:14I feel like I need to really be the, I don't know, like my alter ego in a way.
00:17:20But I never leave chem completely off side of stage.
00:17:24You know, that wouldn't, I think people love that I'm, they get to see who I really am too.
00:17:30I knew there was danger, I couldn't resist.
00:17:53The touch of a stranger, that fell on his kiss, cause it's time.
00:18:00I thought it was love, I thought it was ever.
00:18:05I've been the time of my life, I know it's natural.
00:18:12To the world.
00:18:17Whatever drives the stranger, baby.
00:18:19Oh, literally.
00:18:25Whatever drives the stranger, baby.
00:18:29No, never drives the stranger, baby.
00:18:35No, never drives the stranger, baby.
00:18:39My world is in pieces
00:18:45You've stolen my pride
00:18:49And I'm left defeated
00:18:52He crushed their lives
00:18:57I thought it was love
00:18:59I thought it was ever
00:19:01Having the time
00:19:05All of my life
00:19:06I know it's not true
00:19:09It's a world
00:19:13I never trust a stranger with you
00:19:18Oh, I know
00:19:23I never trust a stranger with you
00:19:29Oh, I know it's not true
00:19:37Like a tiger you hunted
00:19:45You trapped me down
00:19:47Savage muscle, you took over control
00:19:54Then when you do this, all the love you found
00:19:57You left without grace
00:20:03Nothing, no, you've got a single goodbye
00:20:05I thought it was love
00:20:07I thought it was beautiful
00:20:09Having the time
00:20:13All of my life
00:20:15I know it's not true
00:20:17I never trust a stranger with you
00:20:25I never trust a stranger with you
00:20:27I never trust a stranger with you
00:20:37Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hello, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey.
00:21:15Kim, would you like to sing a song with us?
00:21:18Good.
00:21:20We're going to sing a traditional folk song, and it's in two parts.
00:21:24OK, let's sing.
00:21:28Old woman, old woman.
00:21:30That's you, Kim.
00:21:32Me?
00:21:33Yeah.
00:21:33Will you come a-shearing?
00:21:35And then you reply.
00:21:37Speak a little louder, sir, I'm rather hard of hearing.
00:21:43OK, that's the story.
00:21:45Let's sing.
00:21:46Join in and swing your pants.
00:21:48Let's do what?
00:21:49Swing your pants.
00:21:50Swing your pants, Kim.
00:21:52Old woman, old woman.
00:21:55Will you come a-shearing?
00:21:58No, thank you, sir.
00:22:00Speak a little louder.
00:22:02I'm rather hard of hearing.
00:22:05That's good, that's good.
00:22:06Let's try that once more, shall we?
00:22:08Speak a little louder.
00:22:10Old woman, old woman.
00:22:12Will you come a-shearing?
00:22:15Speak a little louder, sir, I'm rather hard of hearing.
00:22:21Good.
00:22:21Next verse.
00:22:22Old woman, old woman.
00:22:24Will you come a-shearing?
00:22:26What are you doing?
00:22:29Oh, dear.
00:22:30I think she heard that time.
00:22:32So do I.
00:22:32It's a four-letter word because your heart knows when love goes, the feeling is bad.
00:22:49It's the pits of the world.
00:23:03It's sad but true when nothing you can't do can bring it back.
00:23:13It's sad but true when she starts to cry.
00:23:20Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh.
00:23:22It's a game.
00:23:25She won't do this one.
00:23:30What had to stop?
00:23:34Well, she didn't dare to take the fall.
00:23:39Because she shows it.
00:23:44She knows it.
00:23:46But what can she do?
00:23:48It's a four-letter word.
00:23:50Because it chains you.
00:23:52It breaks you.
00:23:54And when it's the end, it's the worst thing you've heard.
00:23:58It's over now.
00:24:02And nothing you can do can bring it back.
00:24:08It's over now.
00:24:09It's over now.
00:24:09Calling out it's name.
00:24:12She starts to cry.
00:24:17It's over now.
00:24:17She's not the same.
00:24:20She wants to die.
00:24:25Hide away the tears.
00:24:29No one will see.
00:24:30No one missed him
00:24:35But oh, I can't believe
00:24:42That she has people fail
00:24:47How can something that's so beautiful
00:24:52Just chapel and hide around
00:24:56It's too soft
00:24:59When love says goodbye
00:25:01When love says goodbye
00:25:09Four letter word
00:25:12I tell ya, it's hell yeah
00:25:16When love says goodbye
00:25:18It's a four letter word
00:25:20Because your heart knows
00:25:22When love goes
00:25:24The feeling is bad
00:25:26It's the worst in the world
00:25:28It's sad
00:25:30But true
00:25:32When nothing you can do
00:25:36Can't get it back
00:25:38Standing on the bridge
00:25:42She starts to cry
00:25:44She starts to cry
00:25:46When love says goodbye
00:25:50But anyway
00:25:52I tell ya, it's hell yeah
00:25:56I tell ya, it's hell yeah
00:25:58I tell ya, it's hell yeah
00:26:04Because your heart knows
00:26:06By the time you keep me hanging on
00:26:08By the time you keep me hanging on was recorded
00:26:10We had invested in our own recording studio in Nebworth in Hertfordshire
00:26:16My brother was working in there 24-7
00:26:18And together with my father Marty
00:26:20You know, coming up with great songs for me
00:26:24And Ricky was in there one afternoon coming up with a song
00:26:28The chords sounded familiar to him
00:26:30He realised
00:26:31It was you keep me hanging on
00:26:32And it was at that point
00:26:34He thought well maybe we should do a cover version
00:26:36We hadn't really done one before
00:26:38So I went in the studio
00:26:40I didn't listen to the Diana Ross version
00:26:42Or any other version
00:26:43I just went in
00:26:44And I think that's what really worked about it
00:26:47It's just there was no homage to what had happened before
00:26:50It was like reinventing the wheel a bit with that song
00:26:54I was a huge Diana Ross fan
00:26:57Still am obviously
00:26:58She's my all-time favourite female vocalist actually
00:27:01So that was another reason
00:27:03I just made a point of not listening to her version
00:27:06Or any version
00:27:07And went in fresh
00:27:08And that really shows, you know
00:27:10People love it
00:27:11Went to number one in America
00:27:12And was a huge hit all over the world
00:27:13So I think we did that song proud
00:27:16Oh yeah, we had a telegram from Lamont Dozier
00:27:19Who wrote the song
00:27:21Which I keep on my desk at home
00:27:23And he said
00:27:24Thanks for making me look so good
00:27:26And making that hit for
00:27:28I think making it a hit for the third time or something
00:27:31But yeah
00:27:32It's one of my most treasured possessions
00:27:34Lamont Dozier
00:27:36Sent me a tele-message once upon a time
00:27:39Not many people can say that
00:27:49Give me a meaning
00:27:51Keep me hanging on
00:27:53Keep me hanging on
00:27:56Send me free, why don't you, babe?
00:27:58Get out of my head, why don't you, babe?
00:28:00Get out of my head, why don't you, babe?
00:28:03Cause you don't really love me
00:28:07You just keep me hanging on
00:28:10Set me free, why don't you fade?
00:28:23Yeah, my life, why don't you fade?
00:28:27I said, don't really need me.
00:28:30Don't you keep me hanging on?
00:28:35Why do you keep on coming around?
00:28:38Playing with my heart?
00:28:43Why don't you get out of my life?
00:28:46Let me make a brand new start.
00:28:51Let me get over you.
00:28:54So why you getting over me?
00:28:57Yeah!
00:28:59Set me free, why don't you fade?
00:29:02Yeah, my life, why don't you fade?
00:29:06I said, don't really love me.
00:29:09You just keep me hanging on.
00:29:14No, you don't really need me.
00:29:17You just keep me hanging on.
00:29:22You say before we broke up,
00:29:25You still just wanna be friends.
00:29:29But how can we feel the stress
00:29:33When seeing you only breaks my heart again?
00:29:41Whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
00:30:11Be, hang it on.
00:30:13Woo!
00:30:41I guess it all began about a year ago
00:31:08Like a cheap love magazine
00:31:10You know the kind you read about
00:31:13And have to laugh at the pages in between
00:31:17Now I can't believe the fool inside is me
00:31:22Cause I just can't face the world I've grown to see
00:31:28If you fall my bridge
00:31:32Can't take any more
00:31:35If you fall my bridge
00:31:38Can't take any more
00:31:41I saw you kissing her
00:31:44I saw you making her
00:31:46In the soft sheets in between
00:31:48But when you turned around
00:31:50I saw your eyes on fire
00:31:52And you crashed out all my dreams
00:31:55Like a fool I just stood there and let it go
00:31:59I should've fought right back and let my feelings show
00:32:07If you fall my bridge
00:32:09Can't take any more
00:32:12If you fall my bridge
00:32:15Can't take any more
00:32:16Can't take any more
00:32:19You sure as hell you had to make a fool out of me
00:32:25Well you cut me down for the things you want
00:32:30And I was killing me
00:32:30But then I go and I just let go
00:32:46And I just let go
00:32:48And I'm floating out of space
00:32:50But then I feel your arms
00:32:51And I turn around to a ghost without a face
00:32:55And I just don't know what's back to back to see
00:33:00Cause when I look below the bridge I see it's me
00:33:06Youth on the bridge
00:33:08Youth on the bridge
00:33:09Can't take any more
00:33:10Youth on the bridge
00:33:11Youth on the bridge
00:33:12Can't take any more
00:33:13Youth on the bridge
00:33:16Can't take any more
00:33:17Youth on the bridge
00:33:18Can't take any more
00:33:19Youth on the bridge
00:33:20Can't take any more
00:33:21Youth on the bridge
00:33:22Can't take any more
00:33:23Youth on the bridge
00:33:24Can't take any more
00:33:25Youth on the bridge
00:33:26Can't take any more
00:33:27Youth on the bridge
00:33:28Can't take any more
00:33:29Youth on the bridge
00:33:30Can't take any more
00:33:31Youth on the bridge
00:33:32Can't take any more
00:33:33Youth on the bridge
00:33:34I haven't seen that for such a long time.
00:33:38Look at me, slinking off, trying to look so, so cool, and there I go, there I go, yep, yep.
00:33:46It's a killer. I love that moment.
00:33:48Oh, my goodness me.
00:33:52Right now, we've got some great music coming up for you.
00:33:54This is Kim Wilde and Junior together, right here in the store this morning.
00:33:58Fantastic! Yeah!
00:34:04I've never, ever felt this way before.
00:34:12You are that one that I'm craving for.
00:34:19Another step near your heart.
00:34:22Another step closer to nowhere near.
00:34:26Another step near your heart.
00:34:29I'm on my way.
00:34:35I never thought it could happen.
00:34:37Being close to someone like you.
00:34:41Cause you know this isn't just a minute if there.
00:34:45Cause we make time and take a lot of care.
00:34:49Cause I love everything about it.
00:34:53Everything.
00:34:54There's such a good feel of fire.
00:34:57And I know where I'm gonna be.
00:35:00If you take a step closer to me.
00:35:02If you take a step closer to me.
00:35:03Oh!
00:35:04Another step near your heart.
00:35:08Another step closer to nowhere near.
00:35:11Another step near your heart.
00:35:14I'm on my way.
00:35:16I couldn't even describe it.
00:35:20I couldn't even describe it.
00:35:23Though I tried, I couldn't find the word.
00:35:26When it comes into life, the love is one step away.
00:35:30We need carry on, not to be insane.
00:35:34To dance from its victory.
00:35:37Faithfully.
00:35:38To hang on to each other and never leave.
00:35:42That's the way love's gonna be.
00:35:45If you take a step closer to me.
00:35:48Come on now.
00:35:49Another step near your heart.
00:35:53Another step closer to nowhere near.
00:35:56Another step near your heart.
00:35:59I'm on my way.
00:36:04The only way to deal with affairs of the heart.
00:36:08You gotta jump right in.
00:36:10Doesn't matter who starts.
00:36:11Oh!
00:36:12Make a step near.
00:36:13Come over here.
00:36:15Together we can make it tonight.
00:36:18Woo!
00:36:19Woo!
00:36:20Woo!
00:36:21Woo!
00:36:22We can make it tonight.
00:36:27Another step.
00:36:30Another step.
00:36:32Another step.
00:36:34Another step near your heart.
00:36:36Another step.
00:36:37Another step closer to nowhere near.
00:36:40He's just a match.
00:36:42Another step.
00:36:43Alright.
00:36:44Here it you are.
00:36:45I'm all in my way.
00:36:47You've got money.
00:36:48Got money!
00:36:49Got money!
00:36:50Another step.
00:36:51Here you are.
00:36:52Just another step.
00:36:53Another step.
00:36:54Close it you all day.
00:36:55Another step.
00:36:57Here you are.
00:37:00I'm all in my way.
00:37:01Bye!
00:37:02More, no, no.
00:37:03In 1988, when I got asked to do the Michael Jackson tour, up until that point I had done
00:37:16some touring, but not a lot of touring.
00:37:19I wasn't a touring artist.
00:37:21I made a lot of great videos and done a lot of travelling interviews, TV appearances.
00:37:25I'd done a lot of that.
00:37:27I hadn't done so much touring.
00:37:30When I got offered 32 dates with Michael Jackson across Europe and the UK, I knew I had to
00:37:35really raise my personal bar.
00:37:37So it was really fantastic for me as an artist, as a singer, as a performer, to be given that
00:37:43opportunity, because I had to really pull my socks up, as it were.
00:37:47I was given the same opportunity a few years later with David Bowie on the Sound and Vision
00:37:52tour.
00:37:53And again, you know, I had to have a good chat with myself and, you know, you're just
00:37:59about to go on stage before the most amazing artist on the planet.
00:38:03I mean, it's just a hard one.
00:38:06You know, you just have to have a proper chat with yourself and really focus.
00:38:11And so both those artists gave that to me, they gave me focus.
00:38:18I need the time to have a great chat with myself.
00:38:24I'll see you later.
00:38:24Bye.
00:38:26Bye.
00:38:27Bye.
00:38:29Bye.
00:38:30Bye.
00:38:30Bye.
00:38:31Bye.
00:38:32Bye.
00:38:32Bye.
00:38:34Bye.
00:38:34Bye.
00:38:35Bye.
00:38:35Bye.
00:38:36Bye.
00:38:36Walking round the room singing stormy weather
00:38:57At 57 Mount Pleasant Street
00:39:02Well it's the same room but everything's different
00:39:07You can find the dream but not the dream
00:39:12Things ain't cooking in my kitchen
00:39:19Strange affliction watched over me
00:39:24Julius Caesar and the Roman Empire
00:39:29Couldn't conquer the cold sky
00:39:34Everywhere you go
00:39:48You always take the weather with you
00:39:51Everywhere you go
00:39:53You always take the weather
00:39:55Everywhere you go
00:39:58You always take the weather with you
00:40:01Everywhere you go
00:40:03Oh, it's in the weather, the weather with you
00:40:09Well, there's a small girl made in China
00:40:21It's loving nothing on the mantelpiece
00:40:26Well, do I lie like a lounge room wizard
00:40:31Or do I sing like a bird who leaves
00:40:37Everywhere you go, you're always in the weather with you
00:40:43Everywhere you go, you're always in the weather
00:40:46Everywhere you go, you're always in the weather with you
00:40:53Everywhere you go, you're always in the weather
00:40:57The weather with you
00:40:59Everywhere you go
00:41:20Always take the weather with you
00:41:23Everywhere you go
00:41:25You always take the weather
00:41:27Everywhere you go
00:41:30Always take the weather with you
00:41:34Everywhere you go
00:41:35Always take the weather
00:41:38Take the weather, the weather with you
00:41:43Everywhere you go
00:41:48You always take the weather with you
00:41:52Everywhere you go
00:41:53You always take the weather
00:41:56Everywhere you go, I'll always take the weather with you.
00:42:18Always take the weather with you
00:42:21Everywhere you go
00:42:23Always take the weather
00:42:25Everywhere you go
00:42:28Always take the weather with you
00:42:31Everywhere you go
00:42:33Always take the weather
00:42:35Everywhere you go
00:42:38Always take the weather with you
00:42:41Everywhere you go
00:42:43Always take the weather
00:42:45Everywhere you go
00:42:48Well I took a break in about 96. I was about 36 at the time. I'd got a bit bored of being
00:43:11Kim Wilde. I'd been Kim Wilde since I was 20. I'd done a lot of travelling, a lot of
00:43:17interviews, far too many probably, far too much yakking. I was really kind of bored of
00:43:25myself and also my career wasn't doing that great either, you know, so it was a bit of
00:43:33a no-brainer. It's just like, you know, let's leave the party before everybody else leaves.
00:43:38I think that would be the coolest thing to do. So I did and I just thought, well, something
00:43:43else will happen. And as luck would have, well, fate would have, the script for Tommy
00:43:49came with a message from Pete Townsend. I thought, wow, that's my future right there
00:43:55on the kitchen table. I know what I'm going to be doing for the next few years of my life.
00:44:00So yeah, I have learned of course that, you know, that's the wonderful thing about life.
00:44:03You close one door and another one opens and you just better be ready for it.
00:44:10I'd like to declare this devotion and care is the life to live. That nothing has changed
00:44:23changed and the time isn't passing us by. But I have to say here that for us there's
00:44:32a clear-cut alternative. When we look at each other we believe our own eyes. I believe my own eyes.
00:44:48Know I've come to the end. All my patience is gone. When I'm doubtful I tend to believe my own eyes.
00:44:57The end. All my patience is gone. All my patience is gone. All my patience is gone. All my patience is gone.
00:45:06This is gone, no, far enough. After all we've been through. We can't keep doing. We've done all we can humanly do.
00:45:16What we can humanly do
00:45:21It's a time to be tough
00:45:25A time to be wise
00:45:28We must stop chasing false dreams
00:45:31And recover our lives
00:45:35I believe my own eyes
00:45:39Now I've come to the end
00:45:41All my patience is gone
00:45:43When I'm doubtful I tend to believe
00:45:46I'd like to believe
00:45:48That I don't feel that we've seen the best of us
00:45:54And the way to believe
00:45:56Is to see where the real future lies
00:46:02I hope that the pain in your gaze
00:46:05Can again be a test of us
00:46:08And when I look in the mirror
00:46:13I believe my own eyes
00:46:17Let's believe our own eyes
00:46:21Now we've come to the end
00:46:23All our patience is gone
00:46:25Let's admit we intend
00:46:27To believe our own eyes
00:46:31To believe our own eyes
00:46:41To believe our own eyes
00:46:46To believe it
00:46:48When we've done up
00:46:49To believe in the future
00:46:50We need to do
00:46:51To believe in the world
00:46:52We know the reason why
00:46:53We've got love
00:46:54No union is stronger
00:46:55Than a woman with a man
00:46:57I'm gonna give love
00:46:58In a natural way
00:46:59With everything I can
00:47:00In the moment that I touch you
00:47:03I know the reason why we got love
00:47:06Don't give me any stronger
00:47:08Than a woman with a man
00:47:10I'm gonna give love in a natural way
00:47:13With everything I can
00:47:16Never mind if things go wrong
00:47:21You and I will still be strong
00:47:26And I will love you now
00:47:30Oh, baby, we're here tonight
00:47:35We can make it last forever
00:47:37We can make it last alive
00:47:40Oh, baby, no matter what
00:47:45We're gonna give love in a natural way
00:47:48With everything I got
00:47:50And at times it can be gentle
00:47:52And at times it can be cruel
00:47:55It can cheat you like a stranger
00:47:57It can cheat you like a fool
00:48:00And tonight I don't wanna hold you
00:48:03Cause tonight you're gonna see
00:48:05We're gonna give love in a natural way
00:48:08And keep you here with me
00:48:10Love it like you've never known
00:48:15Now at last we're on our own
00:48:21And I still love you now
00:48:25Oh, baby, we're here tonight
00:48:29And we can make it last forever
00:48:32We can make it last alive
00:48:35Oh, baby, it's me and you
00:48:40And it's a natural reaction
00:48:42But you feel the way we do
00:48:44What is left that's still unknown
00:48:49Let's discover on our own
00:48:55Love it all
00:49:04Oh, baby, I'm not so happy
00:49:16Cause when life is on a nation
00:49:22On everything you feel
00:49:24Well, it's the only thing that's precious
00:49:26It's the only thing that's real
00:49:29Oh, baby, we're here tonight
00:49:34We can make it last forever
00:49:36We can make it last for life
00:49:39Oh, baby, no matter what
00:49:44I'm gonna give love in a natural way
00:49:47With everything you got
00:49:49I'm gonna give love in a natural way
00:49:52With everything you got
00:49:54I'm gonna give you love in a natural way
00:49:57With everything you got
00:49:59I'm gonna give you love
00:50:11I'm gonna give you love
00:50:13I'm going to give love in the natural way
00:50:17I'm going to give you love
00:50:21I'm going to give you love
00:50:23I'm going to give love in the natural way
00:50:27In 1987, I had the good fortune to be asked to be involved with Comic Relief.
00:50:34I have to admit that the only reason I got the gig was because of my name being Kim,
00:50:38because the whole thing was a skit on the fact that it was called Mel and Kim,
00:50:42and I got to work with a mighty Mel Smith.
00:50:45If my friends could see me now, how do I look?
00:50:49Ridiculous.
00:50:50You idiot.
00:50:52People ask me, what was he like?
00:50:54I say, he's a man who had the energy of 20, 20-year-olds.
00:50:58He was exhausting.
00:50:59I mean, just full of energy.
00:51:02And, you know, after the video shoot, he was going off clubbing.
00:51:05I wanted to go home and have a cup of tea,
00:51:06and he was like, are you coming out, Kim?
00:51:08I don't think so.
00:51:09Oh, yeah, he was a sweetheart.
00:51:13Really sweet, lovely, funny man.
00:51:16I do love a nice sax break.
00:51:18Yeah, me too, Kim, but let's wait till the record's over.
00:51:23Well, obviously, after Rockin' Round,
00:51:25The Christmas Tree became such a big hit for Comic Relief with me and Mel.
00:51:28It became sort of associated with me completely.
00:51:34So at Christmas, if we were doing any gigs, we always put it in.
00:51:37Then what happened one Christmas was my brother and I went to a party.
00:51:44Ricky and I had a guitar with us.
00:51:47We had gone to the party by train,
00:51:50and we had every intention of getting a train home,
00:51:52which is what we did.
00:51:53But once we got on the train, we decided to keep the party going,
00:51:56and we started playing Christmas songs and Rockin' Round the Christmas Tree
00:52:00and all kinds of stuff.
00:52:01And before I knew it, it had gone viral,
00:52:04and millions of people had seen me very drunk on a train
00:52:07with my brother, who was also very drunk.
00:52:10Then I became known as a girl that sang Rockin' Round the Christmas Tree
00:52:21and was drunk on a train.
00:52:23So I thought, well, why don't we just put those things together
00:52:26and make a new video, reclaim the drunken moment,
00:52:30and have fun with that with Nick Kershaw, who's my big, big buddy.
00:52:33So lots of really positive things happened from it,
00:52:36and it did make a lot of people laugh a lot.
00:52:38And people still say to me,
00:52:40oh, I remember you and Rick drunk on a train.
00:52:43And it seemed to bring some Christmas joy to a lot of people.
00:52:51Come on, Mel, how about pulling a cracker?
00:52:58From the look of you, darling, I think I already have.
00:53:01Get it?
00:53:01Rockin' around the Christmas tree
00:53:04at the Christmas party hop
00:53:07Mistletoe hung where you can't see
00:53:11every couple just kind of stuff
00:53:13Rockin' around the Christmas tree
00:53:17let the Christmas spirit ring
00:53:20Later we'll have some pumpkin pie
00:53:24and we'll do some caravan
00:53:26Pumpkin pie, anyone?
00:53:28You will get a chant,
00:53:31a little feeling
00:53:32when you hear
00:53:34voices singing
00:53:36last year jolly
00:53:38Deck balls with balls of holly
00:53:41Parkin' around the Christmas tree
00:53:44We have a happy holly
00:53:46This is so corny
00:53:48Everyone's dancing merrily
00:53:51In the new old fashion way
00:53:53You will get a sentimental feeling
00:54:12When you hear the voices singing
00:54:16Let's get dialed in back the house
00:54:19With pearls of holly
00:54:21Ha-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
00:54:24Racking around the Christmas tree
00:54:28Have a happy holiday
00:54:30Everyone dancing merrily
00:54:34In a new old fairy way
00:54:37Racking around the Christmas tree
00:54:41Have a happy holiday
00:54:43Everyone dancing merrily
00:54:47In a new old-fashioned way
00:54:53Happy Crimbo, Kimbo!
00:55:01Hi, my name is Tony Forino
00:55:03And welcome to my phenomenon
00:55:06Oh, God, I think I'm going to start crying
00:55:09It's too funny
00:55:10And now it's time for my special guest
00:55:13You know, I don't think she would object
00:55:15If I was to say she was a wild woman
00:55:17She is
00:55:18Please welcome the beautiful but talented
00:55:21Kim Wilde!
00:55:23I was such a huge fan when I got asked to do this
00:55:25Now, Kim, I have a little gift for you
00:55:28Um, it is a hand-carved Portuguese jewellery box
00:55:33And, uh, you see, you put the jewels in here
00:55:36Like this
00:55:37And you put the top back on
00:55:39And you just give it a good screw
00:55:41I'm sure it will give me a lot of pleasure
00:55:44And it will remind you of me
00:55:46Oh, my God, this is so fun to watch this
00:55:54Kim, it's lovely to talk to you
00:55:55But the audience, they don't want to hear you speak
00:55:58They want to hear you sing
00:55:59Please, come and join me
00:56:02Put that down
00:56:03You know, you have a few memories in your life
00:56:05Of your career
00:56:06And this is in the top five for me
00:56:09The top five for sure
00:56:11You cooking the kids' fish fingers
00:56:14Was just a great line
00:56:16I knew when I read the lyrics to the song
00:56:18When I saw the fish finger line
00:56:21I knew I had to do it
00:56:22And, um, yeah
00:56:24Wow, I was such a big fan of his at the time
00:56:27What a funny
00:56:27Anyway, we all know how funny this man is
00:56:31And then
00:56:32Oh, my God, that dress is outrageous
00:56:35I absolutely love doing it
00:56:40And, of course, I'd had a bit of acting experience at this point
00:56:43Because I'd been in the West End for a year
00:56:45Doing seven shows a week
00:56:46So I kind of had tapped into my inner actor
00:56:50And then every time I looked at him
00:56:53It was very hard to keep a straight face
00:56:54It really was
00:56:55But I just gave it 100%
00:56:57And it's a
00:56:58I think it's a masterpiece
00:56:59It really is
00:57:01It might be the best thing I ever do in my whole career
00:57:03It's a short-term affair
00:57:12You're my children's au pair
00:57:17But I just couldn't bear
00:57:21To keep my hands off you
00:57:30I was barely 18
00:57:35What you did was obscene
00:57:40But to me it felt clean
00:57:45What else was I to do
00:57:53The memory still lingers
00:58:00You cook in the kids' fish fingers
00:58:02And hire them
00:58:03Each morning you'd come down
00:58:09In your paisley dressing gown
00:58:11Then you'd see
00:58:13And this yearning started from a short-term affair
00:58:17No intention to stray
00:58:20I was caught in your snare
00:58:22But my wife was away
00:58:24You were so debonair
00:58:26So I thought what the hay
00:58:27So I thought what the hay
00:58:29I love
00:58:30I can't
00:58:33Resist
00:58:35It was a short-term affair
00:58:40You're the man
00:58:41You're the man
00:58:42You're the boss
00:58:43When I found you right there
00:58:45Like the father I lost
00:58:48Cleaning our silverware
00:58:50To help with the cops
00:58:52Right there
00:58:54At once
00:58:56We came
00:59:02You took me to the kitchen
00:59:04Your hands kinda started twitching
00:59:06I felt so shy
00:59:07I felt so shy
00:59:13Nothing could stop what followed
00:59:14Lucky for me, you swallowed
00:59:16Every lie
00:59:17God alone knows why we had
00:59:20That soldiers all were bad
00:59:36There's a short summer band
00:59:41Like a red cannon band
00:59:46There's a smell in the air
00:59:51I know that it's over now
00:59:57Try to be strong somehow
01:00:02I'll start a brand new life
01:00:07Please, please don't tell my wife
01:00:11But I won't stop loving you
01:00:16Please, please don't tell my wife
01:00:20Oh, what?
01:00:23Child of Vise
01:00:25We must never meet again
01:00:30Short term affair
01:00:33Ooh, ooh, ooh
01:00:35Short term affair
01:00:37Baby, baby, baby
01:00:40Short term affair
01:00:42Ooh, ooh, ooh, yeah
01:00:44Short term affair
01:00:47You can always bank on the Gershwin brothers
01:00:55to come up with the goods.
01:00:57In fact, Fred and Ginger,
01:00:57I call them Fred and Ginger.
01:00:59They liked this next song so much, they used it in two of their movies.
01:01:03Well, here tonight to sing it for us is Miss Kim Wilde.
01:01:14Right, so, wow.
01:01:16I've got to say, so I saw that dress and I don't know,
01:01:20I think it was Vogue or somewhere or some fantastic magazine.
01:01:23I saw it and I thought, wouldn't it be great?
01:01:25So we got in touch with them.
01:01:26They said, well, we've only got this sort of model size.
01:01:29I thought, well, I'll never get into that.
01:01:31But somehow I managed to.
01:01:34Yeah, and, yeah.
01:01:36You know, it's one of my favourite,
01:01:38looking through these, it's one of my favourite performances.
01:01:42I'd always loved those songs from that generation,
01:01:47the Julie London generation, the Frank Sinatra generation.
01:01:50I love those songs.
01:01:51I know all of them,
01:01:53mostly because they were in my father's record collection.
01:01:55And then I got to sing
01:01:57They Won't Take That Away From Me.
01:01:59Wow, with an orchestra too.
01:02:01I couldn't believe it.
01:02:02And it still blows my mind when I'm in that experience.
01:02:05I have worked with orchestras subsequently,
01:02:07on tour and here in the UK,
01:02:10in the piano room for Radio 2.
01:02:13So, yeah, that was one of the first times I'd worked with a full orchestra
01:02:17who were there just for me.
01:02:19And I loved it.
01:02:20A romance won't end on a sorrowful note
01:02:32Though by tomorrow you're gone
01:02:36The song has ended but as a songwriter wrote
01:02:42The melody lingers on
01:02:46They may take you from me
01:02:50I'll miss your fond caress
01:02:54But though they take you from me
01:02:58I'll still possess
01:03:01The way you haunt my dreams
01:03:03The way you wear your hair
01:03:06The way you sip your tea
01:03:10The memory of all that
01:03:15No, no, they can't take that away from me
01:03:20We may never, ever meet again
01:03:42On that bumpy road to love
01:03:46Still, I'll always, always keep the memory of
01:03:52The way you hold your life
01:03:56The way we dance till three
01:03:59The way you change my life
01:04:05No, no, they can't take that away from me
01:04:09No, they can't take that away from me
01:04:16No, no, they can't take that away from me
01:04:46We may never, ever meet again
01:04:51We may never, ever meet again
01:04:51On that bumpy road to love
01:04:55Still, I'll always, always keep the memory of
01:05:01The way you hold your life
01:05:05The way we dance till three
01:05:09The way you change my life
01:05:14No, no, they can't take that away from me
01:05:18No, they can't take that away from me
01:05:26They can't take that away from me
01:05:38So at the end of the show, after I had enjoyed wearing that beautiful dress for, they won't take that away from me
01:06:02They actually did take it away from me
01:06:04They actually did take it away from me because I had to send it back to the magazine
01:06:07So I actually only got to borrow that dress, I never got to keep it
01:06:11So that's quite sweet really
01:06:12They sent it to me but the caveat was you send it back
01:06:16And so there you go
01:06:18Mind you, I wouldn't fit in it now anyway
01:06:20So don't forget it
01:06:24It will heal you if you let it
01:06:27Love will strip you, leave you naked
01:06:31Love is sexy, love is easy
01:06:34I put my face in me and you
01:07:01But somehow I know
01:07:06That I never pull through
01:07:09Oh, I
01:07:12I saw my life passing by
01:07:16Sometimes it makes me want to cry
01:07:19Thank God I got you by my side
01:07:24Every night I hope and pray
01:07:29Nothing takes your help away
01:07:33I lie away to what you breathe
01:07:37Love is holy when you lay with me
01:07:41Love is holy, baby, stay with me
01:07:49I don't understand the word today
01:07:59Cause everything ain't just too far away
01:08:07But you and I, the rest of the fire
01:08:14My love intensifies
01:08:18Baby, you're a spiritual high
01:08:22Every night I hope and pray
01:08:28Nothing takes your help away
01:08:32I lie away to what you breathe
01:08:36Love is holy when you lay with me
01:08:39Love is holy, baby, stay with me
01:08:48Love is holy, don't forget it
01:08:57It will heal you if you let it
01:09:00Love will strip you, leave you naked
01:09:04Love is sexy, love is sacred
01:09:07Every night I hope and pray
01:09:11Every night I hope and pray
01:09:11Nothing takes our help away
01:09:15I lie away just to watch you breathe
01:09:19Love is holy when you lay with me
01:09:23Love is holy, baby, stay with me
01:09:30Love is holy when you lay with me
01:09:37I mean, the thing about being famous
01:09:44And living a public life
01:09:46Is there are going to be sort of, you know, ups and downs with this
01:09:50You know, sometimes you're going to be more who you think
01:09:53You're going to feel more comfortable with who you are than other times
01:09:56I think I've said enough
01:09:59I don't want to know about the patients in this cheap motel
01:10:12Don't want to know about your sea green curtains
01:10:16Cause all I want and all I need is just some time with you
01:10:20Don't forget it, just do it once again
01:10:24Just go for it
01:10:26Just go for the second time
01:10:31Just go for it
01:10:34Just go
01:10:37Just go
01:10:41Don't want to hear about the time and how it's getting late
01:10:49How can it stop when I could go for hours
01:10:52Boy, you need some magic
01:10:54Come on, let me lean on you
01:10:57Don't look around
01:10:58You're not going anywhere
01:11:00Just go for it
01:11:02Just go for the second time
01:11:07Just go for it
01:11:10Just go
01:11:14Just go for it
01:11:15Just go for it
01:11:16Just go for it
01:11:18Just go for it
01:11:22And never let them go
01:11:35Baby, don't expect me to
01:11:37I can't stop when my whole world's exploding
01:11:41Look in the mirrors, I see the heat of something new
01:11:45Why don't we do it, just do it once again
01:11:49Just go for it
01:11:51Just go for it a second time
01:11:56Just go for it
01:12:07Just go for it
01:12:15Don't get so nervous, don't get so hot
01:12:21Don't start to break my head up
01:12:26This is all I want, this is all I need
01:12:28There's such an urgency in everything I need from you
01:12:34Stop giving up, you know you can't refute me
01:12:38I've never reason to believe in still a man in you
01:12:42You've done it once, so come on, go again
01:12:46Just go for it
01:12:47Just go for the second time
01:12:53Just go for it
01:12:56Just go
01:12:59I don't want nobody, baby
01:13:06I can't have you
01:13:07Oh-oh-oh-oh
01:13:09I can't have you
01:13:11I don't want nobody, baby
01:13:14I can't have you
01:13:15Oh-oh-oh-oh
01:13:24Oh-oh-oh-oh
01:13:26I can't have you
01:13:28I don't want nobody, baby
01:13:29Because I love it every lonely day
01:13:31Well, I've got to be
01:13:34What's yours for me?
01:13:36But life will end
01:13:38And it doesn't matter how I cry
01:13:42My tears are close, I'm a waste of time
01:13:46If I turn away, am I strong enough to see it through?
01:13:53Going crazy is what I will do
01:13:56If I can't have you
01:13:57I don't want nobody, baby
01:14:01If I can't have you
01:14:03If I can't have you
01:14:07I don't want nobody, baby
01:14:09If I can't have you
01:14:11Oh, oh, oh, oh
01:14:15Ooh, ooh, ooh
01:14:20Ooh, ooh, ooh
01:14:29Here I go
01:14:31And it doesn't matter how I try
01:14:34I give it all
01:14:37Too easily
01:14:38To you, my love
01:14:41To dreams that never will come true
01:14:44Am I strong enough to see it through?
01:14:49Going crazy is what I will do
01:14:52If I can't have you
01:14:54I don't want nobody, baby
01:14:57If I can't have you
01:14:59Oh, oh, oh
01:15:02If I can't have you
01:15:03I don't want nobody, baby
01:15:06If I can't have you
01:15:07Oh, oh, oh
01:15:08Yeah, yeah
01:15:18If I can't have you
01:15:20I don't want nobody, baby
01:15:22If I can't have you
01:15:24Oh, oh, oh
01:15:26If I can't have you
01:15:28I don't want nobody, baby
01:15:31If I can't have you
01:15:32Oh, oh, oh
01:15:34Hey, yeah
01:15:35Nobody
01:15:38Nobody
01:15:43Nobody
01:15:47So yeah, my Closer album came out at the beginning of 2025 in January
01:15:59And we used the album Close from 1988, one of my most successful albums, as a sort of blueprint
01:16:05And some of the songs are directly connected to the new songs
01:16:09There's a sort of connection between them lyrically, sound-wise, certainly from a production point of view
01:16:16So we went a bit retro on the new album with synth sounds and stuff
01:16:22So it did sound very 80s, very early 80s in parts
01:16:25Midnight Train was one of the first songs that got written for it
01:16:28Which was one that Rick just conjured up himself as he is very prone to doing
01:16:33I loved the sounds of it and I loved it was a bit bonkers
01:16:36And I loved that it was about being on a train
01:16:40Steering that memory like a photograph
01:17:09Looking for an image and I have to laugh
01:17:14You should be lower, your calm face
01:17:19Staring at the mirror like a total stranger
01:17:25Everyone around me, I'm in mortal danger
01:17:29Don't ever know, they won't speak
01:17:34There's only me
01:17:39And I'm moving on
01:17:43Wrapping the trance of darkness
01:17:47Only me
01:17:50On this midnight train
01:17:54There's gins to stick it like a lads to blast
01:17:59Smoke without fire is a high to blast
01:18:03Don't be low
01:18:04There's no car to see
01:18:08There's only me
01:18:12And I'm moving on
01:18:16Fighting the one with broken hands
01:18:22I will be on this midnight train
01:18:27But did I try
01:18:32And did I try
01:18:39On this midnight train
01:18:44And I'm moving on
01:18:48With me
01:18:50Cause my sorrow
01:19:00I don't know where to begin
01:19:04Cause my sorrow
01:19:11I don't know where to begin
01:19:15To redeem my strength
01:19:19Cause my sorrow
01:19:23Show me just how to begin
01:19:27There's only me
01:19:39There's only me
01:19:43And I'm moving on
01:19:45And I'm moving on
01:19:48Grabbing the trance of love and vain
01:19:52Only me
01:19:55On this midnight train
01:19:59And I'm moving on
01:20:00And I'm moving on
01:20:02I'm moving on
01:20:04Something along
01:20:05And I'm moving on
01:20:06I'm moving on
01:22:37I suppose the thing I'm most proud of
01:23:01is that I still love singing more than anything.
01:23:08Yeah, I think it's a hard question to answer.
01:23:25I mean, you know, if you ask me what am I most proud of,
01:23:29I'd be really tempted to say working with Steve Coogan
01:23:32and being an au pair.
01:23:35I would be really tempted to say that.
01:23:38If I look at it more broadly, I mean,
01:23:40I still have a passion for singing and I love singing.
01:23:43So I think I'm probably proud of that.
01:23:49I'm proud of the fact that I started off as a singer.
01:23:52I became famous sort of by default.
01:23:55It wasn't something I particularly wanted
01:23:58or particularly enjoy either, I'll be honest with you.
01:24:01But I do love singing.
01:24:04And I think the thing I'm most proud of
01:24:06is I still feel that same passion.
01:24:10I feel like I never compromised on that.
01:24:15And I got better.
01:24:16I'm actually much better now than I used to be.
01:24:19I mean, come and see me live.
01:24:21You find out.
01:24:21Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh.
01:24:51Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh.
01:25:21Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
01:25:51Jesus said, when I'll be there when you go, I'll pick you up the illusion for, cause I have never had such inspiration, nobody else ever gave me more.
01:26:09Because you came and changed the way I've been, no one can love you more, cause you came and turned my life around, no one can take your place, you came.
01:26:26Let's sing it in a big way! All the way back, come on!
01:26:32You came and turned my life around, no one can take your place, I watch you sleep and I'm still up at night, you look so pretty when you do, so many people just go through life, holding back, they don't save me, but it's easy.
01:27:02So you came and changed the way I've been, no one can love you more, cause you came and turned my life around, no one can take your place, you came and turned my life around, no one can take your place, you came.
01:27:24You came and turned my life around, no one can take your place, you came.
01:27:39Put your hands up, listen, come on, sit.
01:27:41Geoff Bradley, who brought your hands up, you didn't know why I had my life around, no one can take your life, I love you man.
