00:08Hey guys, it's Emily for HollywoodLife.com and the outrage is still growing over Kendall's Pepsi ad in which she walks into a protest rally to end police brutality with a can of soda.
00:18Pepsi quickly took down the ad and issued an apology for making light of serious issues and for putting Kendall in this terrible position.
00:35TMZ is now reporting Kendall was nearly the face of the ad and had zero involvement in the creative process, meaning she signed on for the commercial with no knowledge of the final marketing.
00:44Regardless, Kendall and Pepsi are still getting heat from fans and Martin Luther King Jr.'s daughter posted this photo of her dad being pushed by police captioned,
00:52If only daddy would have known about the power of Pepsi.
00:55Madonna is also throwing shade, posting herself holding a can of Coke and remarking how her Pepsi ad was pulled 30 years ago for kissing a black saint.
01:03It also featured crosses burning, but you know.
01:06Anyway, how is Kendall reacting to this backlash?
01:08Well, we're hearing Kendall is crushed for two reasons.
01:11One, having a Pepsi ad was a dream for her and she wanted to follow in the footsteps of her idol Cindy Crawford's iconic Pepsi ad from the 90s.
01:18And two, Kendall is devastated because she genuinely is passionate about social justice and really thought this commercial was going to celebrate those issues.
01:26Kendall never thought the ad would be considered an insult and this whole thing has been a nightmare.
01:30And ironically, Kendall has long been worried about backlash over her standing up for her beliefs.
01:35It's kind of difficult because I know that we are public figures.
01:38And seeing how controversial it could be to speak out about something you're passionate about,
01:43I just think I don't want the attention of someone not agreeing with what I'm saying to take away from the fact that there's actual issues that need to be handled.
