00:00As soon as the discovery of an Israeli body in Beit Lahir, northern Gaza, was announced,
00:08attention immediately shifted southward to the Rafah crossing, the lifeline of Gaza's residents,
00:14their gateway to the world, and the gateway to the second phase of Trump's plan.
00:19The Israeli side stated it would reopen the crossing in the coming days.
00:23But Israel's announcement of reopening the crossing appeared to the Egyptian side as a transparent manoeuvre.
00:33Tel Aviv wants it to serve as a one-way corridor, an exit with no return,
00:38something Cairo has rejected since the beginning of the war and continues to reject,
00:44considering it an indirect method of forced displacement.
00:48The Rafah crossing was completely closed in early May 2024,
00:53with the launch of the military operation in the city.
00:57Reopening it and allowing movement into and out of Gaza
01:01is viewed as part of the second phase of President Trump's plan,
01:05which also includes ending Hamas' rule and forming an administrative body to govern the Strip,
01:11alongside the deployment of international forces.
