Transcript
00:00Hello, I'm John Musker, writer-director here at the Walt Disney Animation Studios.
00:06And I'm Ron Clements, and I do the same thing that he does.
00:09In fact, we work together. We've worked together for quite a while.
00:12We've done a number of movies together, including The Little Mermaid and Aladdin.
00:15And those movies, of course, did feature princesses,
00:18but we're here today to share with you our latest princess, Princess Tiana, in...
00:23The Princess and the Frog, based on the classic fairy tale, The Frog Prince.
00:28But we've taken some liberties with the story. We've had a lot of comedy and adventure and excitement.
00:32And we've made this set in New Orleans in the 1920s.
00:35In fact, music is such a part of New Orleans heritage, we made this film a musical.
00:39Characters sing, they dance, and the music ranges from gospel to blues to zydeco to Dixieland, swing music.
00:45All of it's in there, and it's composed by the Academy Award-winning Randy Newman.
00:48And we've peopled this movie with a whole new fun cast of characters.
00:51Who is the jazz pioneer? 300-pound big wacky guy who plays the trumpet like nobody's business.
00:57We've got Little Ray on the other end of the spectrum, a tiny little Cajun firefly who's gonna fly into your hearts when you see this film.
01:02And Mama Odie, she's our voodoo fairy godmother.
01:04She's 200 years old, but doesn't look a day over 198.
01:07And we've got Dr. Facilier, our bad guy who can cast some spells on people that we can't really talk about here.
01:13Turns people into nasty things. You'll see him, too.
01:16And this is a hand-drawn animated film, a process that Walt Disney pioneered with Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
01:21And Disney hasn't made a film like this for a few years, so we're very, very excited to bring it back.
01:26And it's exciting for us to be able to share with you a sneak peek behind the scenes of The Princess and the Frog.
01:31In fact, we're gonna show you the first six minutes of the film.
01:34You're gonna see the first half is in color, much the way you see it in theaters.
01:37But the second half, we're still working on, so you're gonna see it in progress.
01:41You'll be able to see the entire film all in color this holiday season when it comes out in theaters everywhere.
01:47Providing we get it done in time.
01:49We have to get it done in time.
01:50We will get it done in time.
01:52It's almost done now. The sooner we finish this, the better.
01:54Please, watch the plan.
