00:00I really enjoyed the movie and I read that Michael Showalter asked the cast for character ideas.
00:05So I'm curious what both of you maybe brought to Taylor and to Sammy that maybe wasn't in the original script.
00:10I think originally Taylor was a bit older, I want to say.
00:17I think it was just a different kind of vibe.
00:20And then I read the script and I really loved it.
00:23And Michael was like, that's actually like the cool, a cooler version of that.
00:28And so I was excited to, you know, play a cool gay character and be able to do that.
00:35And I don't think that, you know, there's only one other movie I can think of at Christmas time that has a gay character in it, which is a lesbian character, which is Kristen Stewart's movie.
00:45So I was like, what a cool thing to be able to do that and have that character be in this story.
00:49And it's a great ensemble. So all exciting moments.
00:53I had auditioned for the movie, just sent in like a self-tape audition and then hadn't really met with Michael until like a couple of weeks before we started shooting and had a Zoom call with him.
01:09And I remember he kind of just telling me that he thought Sammy was like a cool person down to earth, like he was actually like a, you know, a cool guy.
01:21And that, you know, that wasn't my idea, but it was something that he said that was sort of definitely influenced the way I went about the character and just allowed me to access him more.
01:32You know, you always want to root for the people that you're embodying.
01:36And it was, it was a way for me to like, really, I don't know, like, like Sammy and enjoy him, enjoy his, you know, life.
01:46Chloe, I loved seeing a gay character in a Christmas movie.
01:49Like you said, I don't think I've seen that since the Kristen Stewart movie.
01:53And I was so bummed that Taylor and Donna didn't get back together in the end.
01:55I wonder how you felt about that and if that was ever a possibility.
01:59Yeah, no, I, I honestly, I kind of wish they had gotten back together.
02:04But I think, you know, Taylor has some, some, some childhood trauma or something to work through that she has such a fear of commitment.
02:13But I, yeah, my dream was to, to kind of have her walk back in with Donna and not have her be a new girl.
02:19But you know what?
02:20I think she'll get there one day.
02:22She's going to figure it out.
02:23And I think she just has to do some self-love to get there.
02:26Dominic, I loved your rendition of 12 Days of Christmas.
02:29I've actually thought it totally rocked.
02:31A portrait, a portrait.
02:35I never said I wanted a portrait.
02:40A portrait.
02:44Can you tell me about learning that and performing it?
02:47Yeah.
02:47Yeah, no, I know.
02:48I'm on the soundtrack now, guys, by the way.
02:50Stop it.
02:51We're real music artists now.
02:52But, yeah, I knew, I knew, like, in the script, it was, like, Sammy sings a sad Christmas song.
03:02So, like, we talked about just trying to find, like, the most upbeat songs.
03:07Like, 12 Days of Christmas is obviously very, you know, happy and upbeat.
03:11And then turning that into the saddest possible version of itself.
03:17So, I had met with, they had me, you know, in guitar lessons.
03:21And I was learning to play, you know, some chords and stuff.
03:24And then, yeah, just kind of created this, you know, burst this child of a sad Christmas song in my brain.
