Malaysia sets 200-medal target for Thailand SEA Games

Malaysia has set a target of 200 medals at the Thailand SEA Games, which officially begins on Dec 9.  Chef de mission Nurul Huda Abdullah said the figure was a realistic one, decided after a series of discussions with sports associations during workshops with the National Sports Council on Oct 29. 00:06Today marks an important milestone for our team Malaysia.

00:11We had the Jalur Gemilang presentation,

00:13which is truly the climax of our preparation phase for the SEA Games.

00:18With now the flag handed over, I can see that the athletes are really, really excited.

00:24You know, this is the moment, you know, finally the Games are coming around

00:28and it's just a few days away, so I can see also their motivation levels have increased,

00:34but that also means that their stress levels have also increased as well.

00:38I'm pleased to announce that the flag bearers for Team Malaysia for the 30-30 Games

00:44will be carried by two outstanding athletes,

00:47Andre Anwar from Athletics and Alia Yung from Water Ski.

00:52Both of them are highly experienced, proven performers

00:55and have consistently represented Malaysia on the international stage with pride and with honour.

01:03We had our medal target workshop last Saturday,

01:05which was represented by all the sports associations that will be present in Thailand competing at the Games.

01:14Based on data on past performances and also the current performances of the teams,

01:21we have set a target of a total of 200 medals.

01:27This is a realistic number and one that we are accountable for.

01:33We hope that our athletes will stay focused and consistent during the Games

01:37and bring as many medals back for Malaysia as they can.

01:41The 200 medals that has been set as our action target,

01:47is it a form of redemption for what happened two years ago in Cambodia?

01:54Because the number is a big increase in what we achieved last two years in Cambodia.

02:52apakah prestasi yang kita boleh capai.

02:57tapi saya rasa keputusan yang dibuat oleh pihak Tuan Rumah

03:01minggu lepas adalah satu keputusan yang betul

03:04supaya Etik kita dapat pertanding dalam keadaan yang selesa

03:07tanpa diancan sebarang bencana.

03:09Etik tahu dah sekarang apa dia perlu capai.

03:15Tapi kalau kita umurkan sasaran itu,

03:17nanti ada extra pleasure pada dia.

03:42besarkan pencapaian dia sekarang

03:44di Sukansi dan juga Sukampara ASEAN.

03:46Jadi mereka akan buat perusahaan terbaik

03:48sebab dia dapat end-lawn lebih tinggi.

03:49Dia dapat perusahaan terbaik untuk dapatkan

03:51pendendahan lebih banyak

03:52dan untuk berlatih di luar negara

03:53lebih lama dan sebagainya.

03:55Jadi itu adalah bentuk-bentuk

03:56dorongan atau sokongan kita berikan

03:59kepada etik yang membuat perusahaan terbaik nanti.
