00:32The severe flooding in San Benasio Street in Barangay San Perfecto, San Juan City, has been a problem for Lawrence and his neighbors for five decades.
00:41The identified cause of the problem is their own house, which was built directly on top of a drainage line.
00:47In support of the government's initiative, the eight families, including Lawrence, have voluntarily vacated the area.
00:56They were transferred to prefabricated housing units at the staging area of the 4PH program in Barangay Batis.
01:12These units, constructed by the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development, or DSUD, were formally opened on November 18, 2025.
01:22The families will live here rent-free, paying only for electricity and water.
01:26When the drainage in the area was opened, a large amount of garbage was found, which prevented water from flowing properly.
01:37The target is to fully clean the drainage, originally six feet deep, within one month.
01:42This is part of the DPWH o Plan Contrabaha for flood-prone areas in various LGUs across the country.

02:06Once the cleanup is completed, it is expected to provide significant relief from the flooding problem in the area.
02:13Apart from San Juan, the DPWH is also assessing other locations where structures were built directly over drainage lines.
02:23The DPWH will also fund the construction of the San Juan LGU's new pumping station on F. Manalo Street.
