Guatemalan television presenter Raquel Escalante has died at 28 after facing a long and difficult battle with cervical cancer.
Known for her charisma and strong presence on social media, Escalante openly shared her journey with the illness over the past year, inspiring thousands of followers with her resilience.
The news of her passing was confirmed by TV Aztec Guate, the network where she worked as a host. In an emotional statement, the company paid tribute to the young communicator.
"Her charisma, her joy and that special light that always accompanied her made every moment by her side unique and memorable," the network wrote. "Today we say goodbye to a colleague and friend who left a tremendous mark on our hearts. Her smile, her energy and her passion for communication will continue to inspire us every day."
Before winning over audiences on television, Raquel Escalante was crowned Miss Intercontinental Guatemala 2021, a title that helped launch her media career.
