00:00Now, it's not just our Kelly Brook making her mark in the I'm a Celebrity Jungle.
00:04Emmerdale star and former Loose Woman Lisa Riley has also been winning fans over
00:09with her can-do attitude and indeed her kindness.
00:13Oh, well, joining us now is her on-screen husband, Dominic Brandt.
00:19Hello, good afternoon, Dominic.
00:22There you are, and you're on The Dales.
00:23I know you're actually filming today, Dominic, so thank you so much for joining us.
00:27You've just got a little break for us.
00:28Yeah, yeah, you know, you're welcome.
00:32It's freezing up here, by the way.
00:33Is it?
00:34I say the word Mandy's Munchbox again.
00:36It always makes me laugh.
00:37It does.
00:38So what are you making of how she's getting on in there?
00:42I mean, we obviously all know Lisa.
00:43We love Lisa.
00:44You really know Lisa after nearly 30 years of friendship,
00:47and she's just been her beautiful self in there.
00:51She's just so kind, and she's become the mother of the group in many ways.
00:54Yeah, it was strangely tense watching it.
00:59You know, like the first week, because, like, you saw people coming in,
01:03and they were dancing and everything.
01:04They were saying, God, we're like a big family.
01:06And you think, oh, this is four days.
01:08And I thought she was really quiet, and it's not the Lisa we know.
01:11But I think, like, she's comfortable with people that she knows,
01:14so it was good watching her after, like, four or five, six, seven days
01:18just coming out of a shell.
01:19And then you could relax a little bit, because you're watching her just thinking,
01:22come on, Lisa!
01:24But it's great.
01:24She's just making us all very proud.
01:26It's such fun watching her.
01:27And she's not scared at all, Dominic, about being vulnerable in there.
01:31We see her getting emotional now with Jack,
01:33and she was talking about her mother passing away,
01:36and she's just very genuine.
01:41Yeah, well, that's Lisa.
01:42Lisa, I know that she struggled when her mum passed away, Kath,
01:49and it affected her, and it'll always affect her.
01:53She'll miss her mum for the rest of her life,
01:55and she struggled for about six years after that.
01:57She grieved very, very heavily.
01:59So it's nice that she brought her up
02:01and she could see a kindred spirit between her and Jack,
02:03and it was nice to hear that.
02:05Yeah, and she, did she not put you, sorry, put you, sorry,
02:10she told you her big secret,
02:12and it's very scary when somebody tells you such a big secret.
02:17About going in.
02:18Sorry.
02:18Say that again, I'm so sorry.
02:19She told you the secret that she was going in,
02:22just you and her fiancé, right?
02:26Yes.
02:27Yeah, so I knew about six weeks or two months before.
02:30And I thought, oh, no, because if somebody tells you a secret,
02:36then you're like, well, you tell one person,
02:38they tell one person.
02:39And it was a terrifying thing.
02:40I mean, I was so pleased,
02:41because I think she'd been offered it a few years before,
02:44and she was just too busy.
02:45So when she said she was going in this town,
02:46I was like, oh, yeah, but I couldn't tell anybody,
02:49and I didn't tell anybody at all.
02:51You didn't even...
02:53Not even your wife, it says here.
02:57So?
02:58No.
02:59No.
03:02Dom, we saw Lisa absolutely smash it in the trial.
03:06Was that a surprise to you,
03:08or do you think that she just sort of harnessed that prowess?
03:10That was brilliant, slipping in your sack, all that.
03:12Yeah, absolutely brilliant.
03:16Dominic, you encouraged Lisa when she told you,
03:20you were like, go for it, go for it, go for it.
03:22Are you somebody who will follow in her footsteps?
03:24Yeah.
03:25You will go into the jungle.
03:27I would never...
03:28No, no, I was never going into the jungle.
03:30No, I'm too quiet.
03:31I think I'd...
03:31I think I'd be voted out in the first week, I think.
03:35I'd be one of them in the first round.
03:37No, I'd hate it.
03:38I'd hate it completely.
03:39No, never.
03:41Yeah.
03:41Do you think she's going to go all the way here, Dom?
03:44What are you...
03:45Well, she'll always be your jungle winner, I'm sure,
03:47but do you think she'll win over even more hearts out there
03:50and become our queen of the jungle?
03:54I don't know.
03:55I mean, you know, angry ginger nature seem to have it in the bag, really,
03:59but I don't think Lisa's going to disgrace herself.
04:01I just think it's just wonderful seeing that it's our Lisa there
04:05and she's being herself and she's being her kind, irreverent self
04:10and she looks like she's absolutely loving it and enjoying every second.
04:13So I don't think she'd be bothered about winning anyway.
04:16She just wanted to take part.
04:17It's not in her to want to win a competition, you know?
04:19Yeah, exactly.
04:20It's the whole experience.
04:22And can I ask you, before you leave us on, about Corey Dale.
04:26It's being...
04:27It's being promoted everywhere right now.
04:29For those that have missed it,
04:31it's obviously this amalgamation between Coronation Street and Emmerdale.
04:35What are the feelings like on set?
04:37Is it an air of excitement about it?
04:42Yeah, well, I'm fuming because I'm not in it,
04:44so I made a heavy hint that I wanted to be in it.
04:47And I'd read the scripts and the script's incredible, you know?
04:50And then it was weird having all the Corey lot in our canteen
04:52and, like, Claire Sweeney nicking your chips, you know?
04:54It's just odd.
04:55And then, well, I think, honestly, it's going to be amazing.
04:59It'll be a...
04:59It's a really, really good episode.
05:02Yeah, it's...
05:03There's a lot coming up, obviously, in Christmas.
05:05Sparks everything on the soaps.
05:06We know that.
05:07So, Dom, thanks so much.
05:09Lovely to talk to you today.
05:10We'll all have our fingers crossed, of course, for Lisa.
05:13She's so brilliant in there, and good luck with it all there, too.
05:15Thanks so much, Dom.
05:16See you soon.
05:18Thank you very much.
05:19Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you.
05:21Back to work.
05:21It's so interesting, Miley.
05:25You'll understand all of that, too.
05:27It's not, like, you went in there not thinking, oh, I'm going to win it, but it becomes your life when you're in there.
05:32You can't help it.
05:33It's like you forget about the outside world.
05:35It's such, it's like pressing reset, because you've got no phones and no contact with any busy, and you're just in with a new group.
05:41And I really miss it.
05:43I really, and I knew as I was walking out of the jungle that I was going to miss it.
05:46Well, you went back for more.
05:47I went back again.
05:48I loved every single second of it.
05:51Well, I wanted my kids to see it the second time around, but I absolutely loved it.
05:56You do find different elements of yourself.
06:00You know, you think, well, would I do that?
06:01And then when everybody's hungry and they're looking at you, and then you have to bring home the stars, that pressure, you just dig deep in it.
06:07It's a really nice, you know, gratifying feeling.
06:09But also, I think the most important bit is the chats that you have around the campfire.
06:14That's where you get to know people, and they just reveal things about themselves and trust you with information and vice versa, and you feel like you know each other's families.
06:22It's just a really, it's like adult camping.
06:25Yeah, of course.
06:26Just on the telly.
06:27Yeah.
06:28And all those trials as well, the things that they throw at you.
06:30I think when you're actually in the trial, that can calm you down a little bit more than the fear of what the trial might be.
06:37Yeah, it's something you're very pleased to have done.
