00:00The Aguilas Pilipinas women's basketball team is facing a sudden roster shake-up after the SEA Games organizing committee enforced a new rule prohibiting naturalized players, specifically those who obtained their passports, after the age of 16.
00:15As a result, Gabby Bade and Stephanie Berberabe have been ruled ineligible to compete.
00:21The team will also be without veteran Jack Animam, who will miss the tournament due to the club commitments in Japan.
00:27Head coach Patrick Aquino expressed frustration with the late announcement of the rule change, calling it a major adjustment for the squad.
00:35Gilas will now lean heavily on veterans Afril Bernardino, Janine Pontejos, Kate Castillo, Luna Ozar, and Monique Del Carmen, along with newcomers Dignadice and Hain as they prepare for the competition.
00:49The Philippines is aiming to reclaim the gold medal, which the team last won in 2022.
