First Lady Melania Trump joined military spouses and the American Red Cross at Joint Base Andrews to assemble holiday care packages for deployed service members. Speaking at the event, she honored the resilience and sacrifices of military families, especially spouses who manage homes and careers while their loved ones serve.

00:03It is an honor to begin this holiday season with all of you.

00:09Twelve days ago, I visited MCAS, New River, and Camp Lejeune

00:15to spend time with our brave Marines, military, connected students, and their families.

00:23I wanted to thank the team here at St. Andrews for supporting that important visit.

00:30Today, we are surrounded by people whose strength is often quiet, but always powerful.

00:38We speak regularly of the bravery of our service members, and we should.

00:45But we must also illuminate the bravery of those who walk beside them,

00:52the spouses who carry the weight of family life on top of their own dreams.

01:00Your lives require a silence that few outside the military can understand.

01:06Moves that make you to take across the country and around the world.

01:13Holidays spent with an empty chair at the table.

01:18Milestones celebrated over screen because the person you love is thousands of miles away.

01:25And yet, through every transition, every deployment, every homecoming,

01:33you continue to show grace, determination, and unbreakable spirit.

01:40You keep life steady for your children.

01:42You manage homes, careers, finances, and schedules, all while giving comfort to your family.

01:52You carry this extra responsibility because you love someone who has sworn to serve.
