00:02:38Hello, I'm Mike Steger. I'm running for Congress, U.S. House of the Middle East.
00:02:48My name's Michael Bram. I'm running against Dick Gephardt and Democratic American.
00:03:08There's not another show. It's not about the money on power. There's not another place like the United States. Let's all make this all fun and it's all fun.
00:03:23Barrington kickoff for Congress District 3 BBQ.
00:03:31Welcome volunteers, free food. You gotta get the people in the house to hear the message and a way sometimes you can do that is free food.
00:03:39I just made all these.
00:03:43I'm gonna put this one like probably in my front yard and then see where it says glad you could stop by, glad you could stop Barrington.
00:03:51Yeah. Stop Barrington. Yeah.
00:03:53That's gonna be like in the back so when they walk out of the backyard they'll see this sign and then when they walk in the backyard they'll see Barrington.
00:03:57Well this is the day I start to meet the Candidate BBQ. I'm gonna have some people come over. I have a radio show on WGNU from 11 noon.
00:04:12I just started, I had the idea Thursday. You know there may only be one person who shows up or there could be 40 people. I really don't have a clue.
00:04:23I think that government is simply a stereotype controlled anarchy and that you have a bunch of mafia running these organizations like the United States of America just to put their hand in your wallet, take out your money and spend it for somebody else.
00:04:40With a libertarian platform a lot of these people wouldn't be going to jail. We wouldn't be prosecuting any of this minor petty drug stuff and stuff like that.
00:04:59Don't get me wrong. I've changed my opinion on the whole drug thing over the years. I've come to the conclusion that they should just go ahead and legalize drugs and I'm a conservative. I don't do drugs. I don't want to do drugs. But I'll tell you what. If they legalize the drugs it would eliminate most of the crime.
00:05:16What I'm saying is that type 1 and 2 is completely stupid to be illegal because it's a plant for God's sakes. It's like beer really.
00:05:27So what are you going to do for Dan to ensure he wins?
00:05:32Well, I guess what I'll do is I'll try to get the word out and anybody who goes against Gebhardt has definitely got my vote and I'm sure a lot of other people's.
00:05:41I want them to, for one thing, get out of other people's business as much as possible, stop taxing us to death, and the third thing is do something about all the jobs that are going south of the border.
00:05:54I'd ask Gebhardt flat to his face, what have you done to stop the jobs from leaving this country?
00:06:00The question is to ask Gebhardt what's he doing to stop the flow of jobs from this country to the next country? You know, he voted for NAFTA, didn't he? Didn't he vote for GAF?
00:06:11How can these people out here in these factories, Chrysler and Ford, say, hey, he's our boy?
00:06:17He's a machine, you know, and the machine is running, so you have to either have your own machine to run against it or somehow throw a monkey wrench into his machine.
00:06:30I think maybe he ought to have a bake sale next week.
00:06:34I thought we could maybe get Dan to base jump off the Eads Bridge with a Speedo that says vote Buyington on the back, you know, and getting you to film it, and then we release that to the media.
00:06:46You know, something that gets free publicity.
00:06:50Thank you all for coming to the volunteer barbecue for my campaign. I've made my announcement publicly this past Thursday for the first time. Actually, no, about two weeks ago. But enjoy the food and everything.
00:07:06The reason why I'm wearing this hat is because I'm working hard for myself and I think you all should work hard for yourself as well. I'm not going to relate to my neighbor as a competitor for some type of government handout grant or program.
00:07:17Anyway, a couple of my neighbors stopped by. But I have this sheet here. If you want, write your name, phone number, email address, or your address if you'd like to volunteer in my campaign anyway.
00:07:31So just continue eating. If you want to ask me any questions or anything, I'll be around.
00:07:36I have a question, sir. Who's your girlfriend?
00:07:39Where?
00:07:40What are your intentions?
00:07:41Yeah, that's right.
00:07:43My intentions on what?
00:07:46I've been asked to assist Dan with his campaign in a management form. I haven't decided whether I'm going to do that or not. I wanted to come out and meet some of his friends. So throughout meeting some of them today, I'm not quite certain I want the job.
00:08:06What would it take for Dan to win this war or this fight against big politicians?
00:08:13About two and a half million dollars.
00:08:15This is Mike Steger. Another hopeful, unfunded, running in the Republican primaries against party-endorsed Ms. Katherine Enns. He is a one-man campaign crew.
00:08:43They're not doing anything about it. It's crooked. Okay. And it's fixed. So I say all we've got to do is merge the voter database in the city and the county with the driver's license. Put a V on the driver's license. If you're a non-driver, you get the non-driver's card. Fixed. Okay. And then I'm going to do something that Thomas Jefferson would do if he was around today. I'm going to return control of the government to the public. Okay. Pretty monumental task.
00:09:01Very worthy task. Okay. Sounds like a challenge to me. So I don't even want to go to Washington. I'll do two-way teleconference secure. Okay. I don't really need to go up there. I've been to Washington before.
00:09:23I don't really need to go up there. I've been to Washington before.
00:09:25Now before Mike can talk about going to Washington, he had to beat Ms. Enns in the primaries who was party-endorsed and was relatively well-funded.
00:09:33Oh, that's becoming a breeze now. I've got 23 years experience of federal government. Mr. Gephardt.
00:09:40Why am I running against the incumbent Richard Gephardt? Because I can do a better job. I've got 23 years of federal government experience.
00:09:47For Mike, this was personal. Some time ago, he had caught some people falsifying documents and he complained to Dick Gephardt.
00:09:55And he answered me like he'd answer anybody in the district. He said, it's an administrative matter. He told me I was on my own. Okay. He said, you've exhausted your administrative options. To which I say, no, I haven't. Gephardt, you're fired.
00:10:16It seemed to me that Mike Steger was planning too far ahead. Mike Bram, on the other hand, was gunning for Dick Gephardt in the Democratic primary. To me, it seemed like an uphill battle. But then, what do I know?
00:10:30For about 20 years, so it's time for the individuals to stand up and try to get our country back. The country right now is like Rome. The reason, a lot of people don't know why Rome collapsed, it was financial.
00:10:45The idea of represent is to represent the beliefs and the backgrounds of the people of your area. Not go around the nation raising money and then run for president.
00:10:59Now, this is an area up here, like I said earlier, that will vote for him. So the campaign here really does not do any good because you can talk all day long and the people will not listen to you because they've already decided, they don't care, they have it in their minds and they will vote for him.
00:11:19Not only that, but they will vote Democrat. They will never vote Republican. They've always voted Democrat, always will vote Democrat. So you have to go against Dick Gephardt as a Democrat and you have to do it in the primary.
00:11:36There was a little thing in the press the last week about a fax that she sent me. Maybe you saw it. Some of the Republicans thought that was cute.
00:11:48Well, what I want to say to my friends in the Republican Party is eat your heart out. I get faxes from Barbara Streisand. They get faxes from Rush Limbaugh and Pat Robertson.
00:12:06A lawyer by training, like many other politicians, Dick Gephardt was first elected to the US Congress in 1976 and has been undefeated ever since.
00:12:15At the onset, it did not seem likely that this race would pose a challenge. In the past, he had raised two to three million dollars in each campaign and this was going to be no different.
00:12:26So why is he so invincible?
00:12:28He's done an awful lot. You can watch him on television. He's here. He's there. I was born in DeSoto, Missouri. I ran Highway 21 a lot and he had 21 into a four lane highway and he's going to continue to make it the rest of the way to DeSoto, Missouri.
00:12:48He's wavered on most major issues throughout his life, abortion, tax reform.
00:12:56A more generous interpretation of the events may say that he had a sincere, genuine change of heart. I don't really find that to be the case.
00:13:08I think that as he aspired to the Democratic nomination for president in 1988, he changed his position on abortion. He changed his position on gun control. He changed his position on a variety of issues.
00:13:20OK, if that's the case, how do you explain this?
00:13:24And Mr. Gebhardt, if he was terrible or bad, would he have been in there for 20 some odd years? People can't be wrong that long.
00:13:36He has access to a national Democratic fundraising base. These national donors are able to give him, you know, $2 million per each election cycle.
00:13:48The second reason is that as the district has changed demographically and as the voting patterns of the district have changed over the last 10 or 15 years,
00:13:58Gephardt has skillfully been able to take the lead in redistricting every 10 years.
00:14:03Gephardt's original political base is here in the heart of the south side of the city of St. Louis.
00:14:10In the redistricting after the year 2000, after the census came out, Gephardt, whose district used to, the lines used to end here, he took territory.
00:14:20Even though his population in his district had been moving this way, he decided to make sure his district went upwards.
00:14:27Because this swath of people here, there's two types of people. There's African Americans, who are disproportionately Democratic, and there's white progressives.
00:14:37Because of the complexity, the sophistication of redistricting software, state legislatures are able to mold their districts to make sure that they are not going to face a strong challenger.
00:14:50I caught up with Dan a week after the barbecue to find out what kind of success he had had. The results, let's just say, were less than optimal.
00:15:00A lot of people I noticed at this barbecue will sit there and they'll bitch till the cows come home and they'll talk about how it's the black's fault, the poor guy's fault, the rich guy's fault, some politician's fault.
00:15:09But then when you ask them to volunteer, maybe put a yard sign in their yard, they act like they're doing you a big friggin' favor.
00:15:14It's like, pal, contribute a little bit. I'm not asking you for a lot. Can you pass out ten flyers? You have no problem woofing down my hot dogs, that's for sure.
00:15:24My strategy is, and if I can afford it, I want to get billboards, I want to buy billboards.
00:15:29But I thought about putting something like, do it for the kids, in parentheses, and then Byington.
00:15:36You know, then I'll say, pay for Byington for Congress. Or, I'm just a common man.
00:15:42I like the common, or, you know, I like the common, I'm a common man, you're a common man.
00:15:47Won't you be a common man? Tears out.
00:15:50Dan heard on the radio that we were going to have a Gephardt sighting in St. Louis.
00:15:55So we rushed to see him in person.
00:15:58He's pretty much been a career politician for the last 26 years.
00:16:02I thought, you know, I could get some good tips from him.
00:16:05Well, good.
00:16:11This is awesome, isn't it? This is awesome.
00:16:16Thank you very much.
00:16:23I want to congratulate the mayors, the park board members, farmer mayors,
00:16:31and mostly the citizens of this great community for having the generosity and the foresight
00:16:40and the good citizenship to invest in a wonderful facility like this.
00:16:47This center, to me, is a family center.
00:16:53So we finally got to see Dick Gephardt in person.
00:16:56This was the man Dan was going to debate against.
00:17:00Gephardt clearly knew how to talk a lot without really saying anything, but making people feel good.
00:17:06Looking at the novices who were running in the race, it was getting pretty apparent to me
00:17:10that this was going to be one bloodbath.
00:17:13All ready? On the count of three. One, two, three.
00:17:18Woo!
00:17:20I didn't want to say thank you.
00:17:22Running against Dick. Running against Dick. Running against Dick. Running against Dick. Running against Dick. Running against Dick. Running against Dick. Running against Dick. Running against Dick. Running against Dick. Running against Dick. Running against Dick. Running against Dick. Running against Dick. Running against Dick. Running against Dick. Running against Dick. Running against Dick. Running against Dick. Running against Dick. Running against Dick. Running against Dick. Running against Dick. Running against Dick. Running against Dick. Running against Dick.

00:19:03¿Cómo do you find that?
00:19:05Just run an ad or something?
00:19:06I don't know.
00:19:07You have to find, like...
00:19:09They say it should be the opposite of your candidate to try and bring other people into the campaign.
00:19:18Not a lot of congressmen make, like, a local quirky documentary.
00:19:22And it's turning out really, really good.
00:19:24The footage and the film.
00:19:25It's about WG&A radio.
00:19:27I think that would be a good start to catapult when you talk about getting news coverage.
00:19:32How are we going to raise money?
00:19:33What's your thoughts?
00:19:34What's your budget?
00:19:35What are you going to spend?
00:19:36Okay, Mike, what I think I need is about $50,000 to do everything I want to do.
00:19:40And that's what, obviously...
00:19:42Let me change that.
00:19:43You think it's $150,000?
00:19:45Yeah, I'm going to put a one in front of it.
00:19:47Okay.
00:19:48And that's our goal.
00:19:49If there's any demons that are going to come to haunt us from your past, like, you know...
00:19:55Well, let me tell you something.
00:19:56I have no police record.
00:19:57Right.
00:19:58I've...
00:19:59I'm a single guy, so obviously I date and, you know, I meet women.
00:20:02I hadn't thought this was right, but I've probably, in the last two to three years, probably slept with 20 different women.
00:20:07Uh-huh.
00:20:13A couple of cows wanted to video date me, and I said, na-na-na-na-na-na.
00:20:19Yeah, yeah, all right.
00:20:21And then I have smoked hemp.
00:20:23That's about it.
00:20:24That's the only thing...
00:20:25So all those things...
00:20:26And you liked it.
00:20:27Yeah, and I liked it.
00:20:28Yeah.
00:20:29And I inhaled.
00:20:30But all those things, I'm acting up.
00:20:33I'll tell you when you're fucking up.
00:20:35Yeah.
00:20:36I'll help protect you from yourself.
00:20:40Winning November 5th.
00:20:41Right.
00:20:42Winning November 5th.
00:20:43Right.
00:20:44What do I got to do?
00:20:45And just think of it like that.
00:20:46I'm a grunt.
00:20:47I'm out there in the...
00:20:48I'm out there in the trenches.
00:20:49Right.
00:20:50That's the one way I can approach it.
00:20:52It's like I just need someone who's appointed or designated as a treasurer.
00:20:53Right.
00:20:54It's like I just need someone who's appointed or designated as a treasurer.
00:20:55Right.
00:20:56It's like I just need someone who's appointed or designated as a treasurer.
00:20:57Right.
00:20:58Let's see.
00:20:59Goodness gracious.
00:21:00This looks like one for my name.
00:21:01Isn't that crazy though?
00:21:02Don't you think that could be about a more simple problem?
00:21:03Yeah.
00:21:04It's pretty crazy.
00:21:05Yeah.
00:21:06It's crazy.
00:21:07Here's some more stuff.
00:21:08What have I done?
00:21:09I don't know about this.
00:21:10Oh my God.
00:21:11I just thought it would be fun.
00:21:12But it doesn't look like I just need someone who's appointed or designated as a treasurer.
00:21:14Right.
00:21:15Let's see.
00:21:16It's amazing.
00:21:17Oh my goodness gracious.
00:21:18This looks like one for my name.
00:21:19Isn't that crazy though?
00:21:20Do you think that could be about a more simple problem?
00:21:21Yep.
00:21:22It's pretty crazy.
00:21:23Yep.
00:21:24It's crazy.
00:21:25Here's some more stuff.
00:21:28What have I done?
00:21:30I don't know about this.
00:21:31Oh my God!
00:21:32I just thought it would be fun.
00:21:35No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
00:22:05I'm saying it now. Your finances will be all screwed up. I have a whole new wardrobe.
00:22:10It is getting close to the primaries. While Catherine Enns was still evading my calls and Dick Gephardt was nowhere to be seen, I met up with Mike Steger, who was on his campaign trail.
00:22:21Let me describe for you the flavor of representation under Gephardt. The MSD plant here in Lime with burning poop.
00:22:30There's little kids that live around here every day and breathe this burning poop every day.
00:22:37When I'm elected, I'm going to have a wash, put it on the top of this tower, a spray, and then I'm going to do something about the tanks so that the little kids don't breathe this burning poop every day.
00:22:52I want to put my office in the building where I used to work at. Here are the defense mapping.
00:22:59And if the Air Force will let me, I'll let them open up that building for Boy Scout and Girl Scout camp. The only Boy Scout and Girl Scout camp in South City.
00:23:09Right now, I've just got to get through the primary. And after the primary, things will pick up.
00:23:24Because I don't want funds getting locked in.
00:23:33And this installation board, and you can put it on the windshield of your car.
00:23:39It's got a lot of bass, and a lot of people understand exactly where I'm coming from.
00:23:52When they stop, they come and say, what are you going to do? What are you going to do?
00:23:59I am pretty impressed with Mike Steger's determination, but is this an efficient way to reach out to 700,000 people in the district?
00:24:12Michael Bram, on the other hand, was running around the district, trying to get endorsements from local Democratic wards.
00:24:19I went to their ward meetings where Dick and his representatives did not show up.
00:24:24And you have to show up to get an endorsement, which they did not, and he was endorsed anyway.
00:24:29That also goes with this area here, the 15th ward in the city.
00:24:39Same thing.
00:24:41Dickens' representatives don't show up.
00:24:43I show up.
00:24:44You have to show up to be considered for an endorsement.
00:24:47He gets endorsed anyway.
00:24:49So not only do we have problems up at the federal level, but we have problems at the local level.
00:24:53I hope that I win.
00:24:57If not, the website stays up.
00:25:00I'm going to keep letting people know, informing them of the truth.
00:25:07It is the day before the primaries.
00:25:10Mike Steger's one-man campaign crew is in full force.
00:25:14Whether it'll be enough to beat Cathy Enns is another matter.
00:25:17All I gotta do is beat Enns.
00:25:21I think she already gave up.
00:25:23Get involved with every high-tech project the government's got.
00:25:28Bring those projects into the district.
00:25:30That means business, jobs, opportunity.
00:25:33P.S.
00:25:34Get part.
00:25:35You are fired.
00:25:37Didn't you see that already?
00:25:41Okay.
00:25:42They burn the poop 24 hours a day.
00:25:47And them little kids have to breathe burning poop.
00:25:53My Teamster Union dad went to his grave knowing that Gephardt tried to screw me.
00:26:09This is a blood feud.
00:26:18A buck for the board.
00:26:21And however much for the paint.
00:26:23My South County Journal thing, I said, I want to be a representative, not a dictator.
00:26:44And they quoted that.
00:26:46And I said, hey, I'm against dogs and dead people voting.
00:26:49We're going to merge the voter database of the city and county with the driver's license.
00:26:52You know what Mayor Daley says, vote early, vote often.
00:26:55It's like driving a bullet board through mulch.
00:27:14It is mulch.
00:27:1650 feet.
00:27:3250 feet.
00:27:34The primaries ended with no upsets.
00:28:03As expected, Mike Bram had lost to Dick Gephardt.
00:28:07All right, we've got to put him back.
00:28:14You tear pet his head.
00:28:17All right, say bye-bye.
00:28:19Bye-bye, Bram.
00:28:21The campaign ended very nice.
00:28:2326.5% of the vote received over 16,000 votes.
00:28:30That's more than the 13,000 that the Republican candidate, Catherine Enns, who received 13,000,
00:28:37will face Dick Gephardt in the general election.
00:28:40But, of course, you know, we have the media bias again, five days after the election, and there's a picture of Dick Gephardt getting free press on the front page.
00:28:50Also in the paper, if you read, it talks that Gebhardt pummeled Mike Bram and Enns breeze past computer consultant Mike Steger.
00:29:04If you look at the percentages from the state, Catherine Enns did get 58% and Mike Steger got 41%.
00:29:14I don't call that a breeze.
00:29:16And 26% to 73% is not a slaughter.
00:29:21Now, the paper also reports that Gebhardt got nearly 80% of the vote.
00:29:28Well, he didn't get 80% of the vote.
00:29:30Now, in St. Louis County, yes, I did get 3,822 votes, which is about 20%.
00:29:39I did pull higher percentages.
00:29:41But the paper does not show that.
00:29:44That was the county.
00:29:45They are giving a perception that that was the total everywhere.
00:29:51The train that's going by right now is Burlington Northern.
00:29:59It's a track that goes into St. Louis, comes up from Memphis.
00:30:02It'll probably be carrying nuclear waste through here very soon.
00:30:06Dick Gebhardt shows up in the area, said, oh, no, waste is not going to go through.
00:30:10Waste is not going to go through.
00:30:12It's going through.
00:30:13It was started back in 1987.
00:30:15He was House Majority Leader.
00:30:16He could have killed it.
00:30:17He could have killed all the appropriations for Yucca Mountain.
00:30:20He did not do that.
00:30:22The only way for people to take this country back is they have to stand up.
00:30:27They have to say, hey, that's it.
00:30:30And the only way they can do it peacefully is by voting.
00:30:33He has not had somebody run against him in the primary for many, many, many years.
00:30:38So this was very interesting to see that large of a turnout for me when the media won't even put my picture in the paper.
00:30:45They won't put my picture on TV.
00:30:48And basically nobody knew who I was.
00:30:52So that begs the question, what about the media?
00:30:56Is it not supposed to be fair and balanced, as some would say?
00:31:01Radio plays a greater role than ever.
00:31:03Time on the air is paid for by all parties and distributed evenly among them, giving the party in office no advantage over its opponents.
00:31:11Most of the mainstream media only focus on official sources.
00:31:16Well, who are the official sources?
00:31:18Of course, the Democrats and the Republicans.
00:31:21And they are colluding to keep independent voices like the Green Party out of the electoral process.
00:31:27It is so hard to get information.
00:31:29I just want to know who believes what.
00:31:32What do you think the role of the media is in this whole election process?
00:31:36To sell newspapers and TVs, TV ads.
00:31:39Hello from the Anchor Desk.
00:31:45Good morning again.
00:31:46It's 6.30 now on this Monday, January 3rd.
00:31:48And here's what's happening in the news this morning.
00:31:50This story about two Tennessee boys who need to eat squirrel meat might sound a little nutty, but it is true.
00:31:57Folks all over Morgan County, Tennessee, have been out hunting squirrels today.
00:32:01Been hard trying to find foods that are high in protein.
00:32:05And we got the idea of squirrels.
00:32:07Journalists can be eyes for the world, often risking their lives.
00:32:11But that's another story.
00:32:12But that's a story we want to hear.
00:32:13For who?
00:32:14That's right.
00:32:15We're using all sorts of French.
00:32:16Well, I thought Maurice Chevalier might sneak in here, but oh, I didn't.
00:32:19Well, I'm going to sneak off to Jacques Saint-Penay.
00:32:24What's on your tie, Mark?
00:32:26That's Bugs, and Daffy, and Wile E. Coyote.
00:32:33This was for sale in the post office.
00:32:36$1.3 trillion.
00:32:39Make this holiday season a time of giving.
00:32:42Come on, join us.
00:32:43If you want to fall out of debt.
00:32:46Nice Friday.
00:32:47Nice Friday.
00:32:48Sit, Friday.
00:32:49Sit.
00:32:50All right, let's go up to Chopper 2 right now.
00:32:51I'll show you what's happening.
00:32:52Some serious clowning around going on today.
00:32:55Exactly.
00:33:05Yeah, they told me where to stand, where to stand, and I'm doing okay this morning.
00:33:09Put it, quote, a cheap publicity stunt, and again, quote, a classic case of media manipulation.
00:33:16Media.
00:33:17Media.
00:33:18Media.
00:33:19Media manipulation.
00:33:20That is the news this morning.
00:33:22Now let's head back to Brian and Jane.
00:33:24This was when we were invading.
00:33:27We were going into Yugoslavia, and I was really upset about some stuff.
00:33:33And I was watching it, and I was, like, watching how they would, like, the local newscasters
00:33:39would talk about, you know, they'd briefly introduce a few serious issues with these stern
00:33:43looks on their faces, and then, like, immediately they'd be, you know, they'd be cutting up and
00:33:47making jokes and stuff.
00:33:49And I was just like, how can anybody take it seriously, the real news, because there is
00:33:56some substance there.
00:33:58How can they take it seriously if, like, these newscasters are just total clowns, you know?
00:34:03When you're trying to, when you're trying to win your market share by providing entertainment,
00:34:10then you're, you've lost your focus on the news.
00:34:13After dismal response in getting volunteers and raising funds, Dan seemed really frustrated
00:34:19the next time I saw him.
00:34:21No one from the Libertarian Party has called me and said, okay, here, we're gonna help you
00:34:26with fundraising or nothing like that.
00:34:28And I'm not really blaming him, but I was kind of feeling frustrated, because I was like,
00:34:31man, am I really to, am I willing to waste all this time and energy?
00:34:36Because, really, that's all you have.
00:34:38The only independent right now is a guy from Vermont named Bernie Sanders, who's a socialist,
00:34:44actually, and Vermont's quite a quirky state politically.
00:34:47I would bet my life savings that Dan Vyington will not be able to win this seat.
00:34:54Why do you vote Democratic?
00:34:55Well, it's a party that my father and mother and sister all vote for.
00:35:00And that's the only way that I can go.
00:35:02Which party do you generally vote for?
00:35:04Republican.
00:35:06It's just, in general, they seem more conservative than the Democrats.
00:35:13Could you define conservative?
00:35:15What are the things that are conservative?
00:35:19All that seem to me, uh...
00:35:24As a labor man and as a working man, I have to vote Democratic.
00:35:28Democrat.
00:35:29What do you vote Democratic?
00:35:31Uh, because we're a little more liberal.
00:35:35What have they specifically done?
00:35:37Uh, I really don't know.
00:35:40I just, where I was brought up to vote Democratic.
00:35:44Republican, the rich keep getting richer and the poor keep getting poorer,
00:35:47so I want to be on the rich side.
00:35:49You don't have a problem with that.
00:35:50I'm going to be on the rich side.
00:35:51My parents are both Democrats, so I was raised a Democrat.
00:35:54God first, love of country, family.
00:36:00Traditional things.
00:36:02The Republicans, the people who have been elected so far,
00:36:05have they kept the promises that you've been promised as a voter?
00:36:10Well, it doesn't make any difference.
00:36:12Uh, I support them.
00:36:15And I would, uh, that's my thing.
00:36:19You know.
00:36:20I am starting to get the idea now.
00:36:22The two-party system works something like this.
00:36:27This is America.
00:36:33God bless America.
00:36:38One, two, three, four!
00:36:39Land of the free and the home of the brave.
00:36:45Land of the free and the home of the brave.
00:36:47America!
00:36:48Hey, America. I'm the better choice.
00:36:52I am for the poor people. Vote for me.
00:36:58No, no. I'm the better choice.
00:37:01Nobody gets free money.
00:37:03And I'll protect you all with big bombs.
00:37:08This is stupid.
00:37:09I will protect you all.
00:37:11Black people, yellow people, brown people, gay people.
00:37:14From the man.
00:37:16Don't be an idiot.
00:37:19I'll let you keep your guns so you can be safe.
00:37:22Haha, jackass.
00:37:25Guns kill. Guns kill.
00:37:28Uh, what about pro-choice?
00:37:32Or if you keep your kids, I'll pay you.
00:37:35Haha, take that.
00:37:37He's taking away all my votes.
00:37:41Holy Jesus.
00:37:43I'm fucked.
00:37:44That's it.
00:37:45Jesus.
00:37:47I present to you...
00:37:49Jesus.
00:37:59Vote for me.
00:38:00No, vote for me.
00:38:01Vote for me.
00:38:02No, vote for me.
00:38:03No, vote for me.
00:38:04No, vote for me.
00:38:06Jackass, vote for me.
00:38:08No, vote for me.
00:38:11Hey, guys.
00:38:12I'm an independent.
00:38:13Why don't we debate issues?
00:38:15You guys want to debate me?
00:38:17Ha!
00:38:18I'll bet you I'll kick y'all's ass.
00:38:20You don't know who you up against.
00:38:30Hey!
00:38:31Hey!
00:38:32Hey!
00:38:33Hey!
00:38:34Hey!
00:38:35Hey!
00:38:36Yo!
00:38:37Yo, you guys don't play fair!
00:38:45The Land of free and the home of the brave.
00:38:47The Land of the free and the home of the brave.
00:38:49America!
00:38:50Gracias por ver el video

00:39:50Gracias por ver el video
00:41:22Gracias por ver el video
00:41:24Gracias por ver el video
00:41:26Gracias por ver el video
00:43:26Yes, Mr. Henderson
00:43:30Hi, this is Srikhan Chalapa
00:43:32I had
00:43:34been requesting
00:43:36an interview with Ms. Anz
00:43:38and I think I got a message from you
00:43:40about a couple of weeks back or so
00:43:42Would it be possible for me
00:43:50to kind of just follow
00:43:52her on our campaign trail maybe a couple
00:43:54of days or something between now
00:43:56and November? I mean
00:43:57if she can't do an online interview I can at least
00:44:00capture that kind of footage because I'm really trying
00:44:02to capture how the campaigns are run and stuff
00:44:04like that
00:44:04and it was
00:44:05Okay
00:44:06Um, alright
00:44:09Bye
00:44:10Editing
00:44:13Editing Radio Free St. Louis
00:44:17I am Chuck Norman
00:44:18which is actually going to be
00:44:20part of my campaign
00:44:23hopefully I'll be able to
00:44:24maybe I might even sell tickets
00:44:26wherever it shows
00:44:28and raise money
00:44:28I guess pretty much
00:44:37All the topics I wanted to cover
00:44:39I have covered
00:44:40because I mean
00:44:40at this particular point
00:44:42I'm just continuing to fill out surveys
00:44:43and pass out flyers
00:44:45and I guess if I can just
00:44:47if you can kind of help me
00:44:48get spots to speak in front of
00:44:50and work with these guys
00:44:51and get a speech
00:44:52I'll show up wherever I can
00:44:53as long as it's not Monday
00:44:54through Friday
00:44:559 to 5
00:44:56Don't we have a debate?
00:44:58No
00:44:58The League of Women Voters
00:44:59originally were going to have a debate
00:45:00and I talked to them
00:45:01and they said they're not having a debate
00:45:02this year
00:45:02Oh, so we're not going to have a debate
00:45:04No
00:45:04No, I hadn't heard that
00:45:05so I was kind of disappointed about that
00:45:08Hello, sir
00:45:11Not much
00:45:13I'm passing out flyers too today
00:45:15Dan Bynson for Congress
00:45:18What's here?
00:45:19What bond is he with?
00:45:20That's me
00:45:20Libertarian
00:45:22Oh, what's the change?
00:45:23You guys are cool, man
00:45:24I'm going down to the
00:45:25You're going to legalize marijuana
00:45:25for us guys, man
00:45:27I think marijuana
00:45:27I think there should be laws
00:45:30I think the drug laws
00:45:31are not working in this country
00:45:32The only criticism I hear
00:45:34about you guys
00:45:35is that you want to privatize the forest
00:45:38I can't do that
00:45:40Privatize the right?
00:45:41Forest
00:45:41National Forest
00:45:42Oh, the forest
00:45:42My buddy's running for Senator
00:45:47you know Green Party?
00:45:49Yeah
00:45:49Romano
00:45:50Dan Romano
00:45:51Okay
00:45:51He's running for that
00:45:52He's a friend of mine
00:45:53I'll probably see him today
00:45:54We're actually going down
00:45:55to a peace protest
00:45:56So
00:45:56Anyway, man
00:45:57It was nice meeting you
00:45:58What is your name?
00:45:58Lefty Flowerchild
00:45:59That's my real legal name
00:46:00Lefty Flowerchild?
00:46:01Yeah, right
00:46:01That's my legal name
00:46:02I had to change
00:46:03Okay
00:46:03Hey, give me a coffee
00:46:04Or if you know anyone
00:46:06who's bitched
00:46:06in helping out a third party
00:46:08We've sustained a huge loss
00:46:10with the cancellation
00:46:10of the League of Women
00:46:11to Voters debate
00:46:12That's a huge setback
00:46:14And what's our symbol?
00:46:19Isn't it a donkey?
00:46:21That's a donkey
00:46:22That's Democrats
00:46:23No
00:46:24It's a blunt
00:46:24It's a donkey
00:46:26It's a donkey
00:46:26It's a libertarian
00:46:28Or a mule
00:46:28I thought it was a blunt
00:46:29A blunt
00:46:30A big old spleet
00:46:32You're saying it's a donkey
00:46:34and that's the libertarian
00:46:35In Missouri it is
00:46:37Yeah, it's a donkey
00:46:38or a mule
00:46:38So what are some things
00:46:40that you guys are doing?
00:46:41Because I have no idea
00:46:42Because I wasn't there
00:46:43Tomorrow I'm passing out
00:46:44flyers after work
00:46:45Okay, Saturday?
00:46:47Saturday from 2 to 4
00:46:48down at the Arch
00:46:48And that's when it's downtown?
00:46:492 to what?
00:46:502 to 4 at the Arch
00:46:51Okay, now
00:46:52Did you want to do
00:46:53a different type of flyer
00:46:55for that?
00:46:55Yeah, I was thinking
00:46:56We need to get that done
00:46:57so I can get it done tomorrow
00:46:58The Tivoli
00:46:59I'm going to premiere the film
00:47:01which you saw it
00:47:02It wasn't a completed project
00:47:04but it would be
00:47:04totally complete
00:47:05I'm premiering that
00:47:06on October 15th
00:47:07You don't like
00:47:08the way he portrayed himself
00:47:09in his film
00:47:10Your
00:47:12one and a half minutes
00:47:14of sound bite
00:47:15from that entire film
00:47:17is pretty hard edge
00:47:19But
00:47:19it's done
00:47:21Right
00:47:21And whatever happens
00:47:23happens
00:47:23So I agree with that
00:47:24because we're going to do that
00:47:25Small stuff
00:47:26War based
00:47:28What do you mean saying?
00:47:30I mean
00:47:30You've got to give me something
00:47:32He's good, war bad
00:47:34I'll tell you what
00:47:34Bush equals Nazi
00:47:36We should not exchange
00:47:38an 18 year old's life
00:47:41for
00:47:42an oil price
00:47:43You know what I mean?
00:47:45I'm not nervous about Iraq
00:47:46lobbing a bomb over
00:47:48you know, from Iraq
00:47:49I'm nervous about some terrorist
00:47:51waltzing through the borders
00:47:52Well, you know
00:47:52it'll probably happen
00:47:53in two years
00:47:53Some terrorist
00:47:54just waltzing through the borders
00:47:55you know
00:47:56with a bomb
00:47:58and a briefcase
00:47:59and he just puts it somewhere
00:48:01and kaboom
00:48:02That's the biggest threat
00:48:03And our foreign policy
00:48:04should be that
00:48:05where we don't meddle
00:48:06in anybody's business
00:48:07unless they
00:48:08Absolutely
00:48:08You know
00:48:08And that is
00:48:10a large reason
00:48:11why we're hated
00:48:11in a lot of parts
00:48:13of the world
00:48:13We're everywhere
00:48:15We're trying to be
00:48:15the world's policeman
00:48:16and you know
00:48:17sometimes we come down
00:48:18on the wrong side
00:48:19The war drums
00:48:22had started beating
00:48:23out of Washington
00:48:24and a resolution
00:48:25authorizing war
00:48:26was on the table
00:48:28Third party voices
00:48:29were in the forefront
00:48:31opposing war
00:48:32Why war?
00:48:34Why Iraq?
00:48:35And why now?
00:48:38To the neocons
00:48:399-11
00:48:40was a godsend
00:48:41like a dying vampire
00:48:44that has been given
00:48:45a transfusion
00:48:46of human blood
00:48:47We don't have to look
00:48:50very far
00:48:51to see the influence
00:48:52of the money tower
00:48:53dragging us into war
00:48:55ExxonMobil
00:48:57the oil majors
00:48:58British Petroleum

00:49:03the burgeoning
00:49:04homeland security
00:49:06industry
00:49:07that profits

00:49:09to spy on us
00:49:10The whole military
00:49:12industrial complex
00:49:13is now becoming
00:49:14the only growth sector
00:49:16in an economy
00:49:17dragged down
00:49:18by war
00:49:19fear
00:49:20and crushing taxation
00:49:22What you can do

00:50:08candidate
00:50:08for the U.S. Senate

00:50:11Thank you
00:50:12The Green Party
00:50:13has come out
00:50:14consistently
00:50:14against this war
00:50:16George W. Bush
00:50:18will look at himself
00:50:19You know I'm
00:50:20I hear him
00:50:21talking about
00:50:22Oh how
00:50:22it's appalled
00:50:23how Saddam
00:50:24gassed the
00:50:25Kurdish people
00:50:26back in 1988
00:50:27Well George W. Bush
00:50:30Where the hell are you
00:50:32back in 1988
00:50:33And why weren't you
00:50:35saying anything
00:50:36about it back then
00:50:37What's the matter
00:50:38Are you too drunk
00:50:39at the time
00:50:40I'm Tamara Millay
00:50:42and I'm a libertarian
00:50:43candidate for U.S. Senate
00:50:44Yeah
00:50:44I'm not going to
00:50:45take much of your time
00:50:46And I'm not going to
00:50:48ask you for your vote
00:50:49today
00:50:49I'm here instead
00:50:51to stand in solidarity
00:50:52with all Americans
00:50:54Libertarians
00:50:55yes
00:50:55But Greens
00:50:56Democrats
00:50:57and Republicans
00:50:58too
00:50:58They will pose
00:51:00a terrible problem
00:51:01Hello my name is Daniel
00:51:07My name is Daniel
00:51:08I'm running as a
00:51:09libertarian candidate
00:51:10for Congress
00:51:12There's not much
00:51:14that I can add
00:51:15that has not been
00:51:16said today
00:51:17But when I hear
00:51:19the stories
00:51:20about the veterans
00:51:20who were over
00:51:21in Iraq
00:51:22stuff that you
00:51:23don't see in the news
00:51:24or the media
00:51:25doesn't cover
00:51:25the destruction
00:51:27that the Persian
00:51:28Gulf War
00:51:29has left behind
00:51:30where all we seem
00:51:32to be driven towards
00:51:33is the only solution
00:51:34for our
00:51:35the Middle East crisis
00:51:36is war
00:51:37It bothers me
00:51:39I'm going to have
00:51:40to go apply
00:51:41a little sun-tay lotion
00:51:42on my phone
00:51:42My hair's kind of
00:51:43thinning out
00:51:44and I've got a good
00:51:44sun-tay
00:51:45He needs to practice
00:51:48I think he wasn't
00:51:50prepared
00:51:50and he was nervous
00:51:51that's what I think
00:51:52but it was his first
00:51:54time out
00:51:55and now he's
00:51:55he's got experience
00:51:57under his belt
00:51:58And I think like
00:51:59when I said the joke
00:52:00about the sun-tan
00:52:01or whatever
00:52:01I don't know
00:52:02what I was thinking
00:52:02but that's what
00:52:03I was thinking
00:52:04really
00:52:04because it was like
00:52:04man my head
00:52:05was starting to
00:52:05really burn up
00:52:07because some of
00:52:07those people
00:52:08like talked
00:52:08and talked
00:52:09and talked
00:52:09and I was just
00:52:13nervous as shit
00:52:14and I know
00:52:14that I have to
00:52:15have something prepared
00:52:16now
00:52:16when I go in there
00:52:17The war resolution
00:52:19passed overwhelmingly
00:52:20in the Congress
00:52:21with the House
00:52:22approving it
00:52:23296 to 133
00:52:26and the Senate
00:52:2777 to 23
00:52:29This past Saturday
00:52:31I went and talked
00:52:33in front of a peace group
00:52:34and I just didn't feel
00:52:36as if I was prepared enough
00:52:39And why do you feel
00:52:41you're qualified
00:52:41for this office?
00:52:43I'm not a lawyer
00:52:43I mean I'm actually
00:52:45a Missourian
00:52:46I live in Missouri
00:52:48and I think that
00:52:49the people of Missouri
00:52:50deserve a candidate
00:52:51who really doesn't want
00:52:52to be a career politician
00:52:53Well my name is Carl Schlanger
00:52:55and for the campaign
00:52:56for Dan Vyington
00:52:57I'm just trying to help out
00:53:00with the words
00:53:02when it comes to
00:53:03perhaps doing commercials
00:53:05helping him with speeches
00:53:08While Dan was having
00:53:09a tough time
00:53:10finding places to speak
00:53:12the third party candidates
00:53:13in the tightly contested
00:53:14Missouri Senate race
00:53:15hit limelight for once
00:53:19What I am saying
00:53:21is that these elections matter
00:53:22It's bigger than us up here
00:53:24I mean there are people
00:53:26in this state
00:53:26Tens of thousands
00:53:27of them seniors
00:53:28I've met them
00:53:29in the 30 senior centers
00:53:30and independent living centers
00:53:31I went to
00:53:32who need prescription drug coverage
00:53:34I remember the first Gulf War
00:53:35we were told about what
00:53:36oh the third biggest army
00:53:38in the world
00:53:38and what a threat he was
00:53:40and they turned out
00:53:40to be a second rate army
00:53:42Thomas Jefferson specifically
00:53:43wrote some of the most
00:53:44important documents
00:53:45I think we all probably have a fond place
00:53:49in our heart for them
00:53:49except maybe John Ashcroft
00:53:51Getting the job done
00:53:54that's what it's about
00:53:56serving in the United States Senate
00:53:58The Green Party
00:53:59is not taking away votes
00:54:01from any other party
00:54:02because no other party
00:54:03owns those votes
00:54:04the voters own those votes
00:54:06I would not doubt
00:54:07your patriotism
00:54:09nor would I doubt
00:54:10the patriotism
00:54:11of any member
00:54:12of the United States Senate
00:54:13Republican or Democrat
00:54:14and I don't want you
00:54:15to doubt mine again
00:54:16Actually I'm very pleased
00:54:19to say that the media
00:54:20have done a great job
00:54:20reporting on my positions
00:54:22when they have talked about me
00:54:24I've noticed
00:54:25no inaccuracies
00:54:26Once the media gives us
00:54:28a little bit of attention
00:54:29and lets the public know
00:54:31what we stand for
00:54:31it seems like we get a lot more
00:54:33that people are really
00:54:34very interested in our message
00:54:35I've been asked
00:54:36you know people
00:54:37why are you running
00:54:39with the
00:54:40under
00:54:41for the Senate
00:54:42the U.S. Senate
00:54:43as a third party candidate
00:54:45don't you know
00:54:45that this is a two party system
00:54:47my reply to that
00:54:49is
00:54:50that's right
00:54:51it's a two party system
00:54:52and we need a second party
00:54:54I am getting involved
00:54:55in politics
00:54:56because there's two things
00:54:57I think we really need
00:54:58to address as Americans
00:54:59and that's one
00:55:00our health care system
00:55:01and two
00:55:02taxes
00:55:02I think our health care system
00:55:05I mean
00:55:06looking out here
00:55:06I guess by show of hands
00:55:07do any of you remember
00:55:08doctors making house calls?
00:55:13Okay
00:55:14what happened
00:55:14I'm quite
00:55:18I'm quite positive
00:55:19you can call the IRS
00:55:20with one question
00:55:21and if you talk to
00:55:22four different people
00:55:23you get four different answers
00:55:24so in reality
00:55:27what you need to do
00:55:28we need to reform
00:55:29the tax process
00:55:30and people need to
00:55:31at least say this
00:55:32I don't
00:55:32not a lot of politicians
00:55:34even mention this stuff
00:55:35I'll be over here
00:55:36I'll be over here
00:55:36the elections
00:55:41are drawing near
00:55:42and Dan's campaign
00:55:43had little momentum
00:55:44all bets
00:55:46are on his big movie premiere
00:55:48fundraise
00:55:49fundraise
00:55:50fundraise
00:55:51we're going against
00:55:52Gephardt
00:55:53who knows how much money
00:55:54he has
00:55:55let's just say
00:55:55a lot
00:55:56and how much money
00:55:58does Dan have
00:55:59none
00:55:59so in order to
00:56:01win
00:56:03you need money
00:56:03the content of character
00:56:05yeah
00:56:06you know character
00:56:08is a lot
00:56:08and you have that Dan
00:56:09oh thank you
00:56:10and I'm not just
00:56:11trying to boost you
00:56:12if it's true
00:56:12you have character
00:56:13you're going to win
00:56:14well thank you
00:56:15I appreciate it
00:56:16I wish you were
00:56:16in my district
00:56:17Jeannie
00:56:17I'm going to vote
00:56:18I'm going to vote
00:56:19for you anyway
00:56:19I don't have to vote
00:56:20for you
00:56:20to campaign for you
00:56:22Dan
00:56:22I called to tell you
00:56:24I need 10 tickets
00:56:25on reserve
00:56:26okay
00:56:27if you would like to see
00:56:29the W. Gin Yun documentary
00:56:30the first show
00:56:31is basically sold out
00:56:33here at the Tivoli Theatre
00:56:36today
00:56:36beautiful Tivoli Theatre
00:56:37trying to organize
00:56:39our first fundraiser
00:56:40where Dan will show
00:56:41his film
00:56:42the Chuck Norman documentary
00:56:44which has come off
00:56:46fabulously
00:56:46what if you only sell
00:56:48120
00:56:49well then I'll pretty much
00:56:52lose about $1,500
00:56:53off the whole thing
00:56:54so that means
00:56:55my work is the cutout
00:56:56for me
00:56:57right
00:56:57and I've got to
00:56:58I've got to start
00:56:59selling tickets
00:57:00now I've got two weeks
00:57:01I've got two weeks
00:57:02to do it
00:57:02the thing
00:57:03Dan can contribute
00:57:05as much money
00:57:06as he wants
00:57:06to his own campaign
00:57:07the film premiere
00:57:09is his film
00:57:10right
00:57:11it's not necessarily
00:57:12a fundraiser
00:57:13so whatever money
00:57:14he makes from that
00:57:14doesn't have to be counted
00:57:15we're going to need
00:57:17people to staff a booth
00:57:18I mean you want to
00:57:18set a table
00:57:19up and sell buttons
00:57:19and stickers
00:57:20or you want to give them
00:57:21yeah absolutely
00:57:21alright
00:57:22so who's going to do that
00:57:24I've got people
00:57:24who can do that
00:57:25pretty girls are good
00:57:26for that
00:57:27okay
00:57:27you know
00:57:28not the shootest
00:57:30I'm not getting
00:57:34anybody home
00:57:34I've got one person
00:57:35Gloria Parker
00:57:36she said she'll put
00:57:37a yard sign in her yard
00:57:39I think what it is
00:57:42is a lot of people
00:57:43you know
00:57:44they think why bother
00:57:44I don't have a chance
00:57:46I have no chance
00:57:47to win this election
00:57:48you know
00:57:48I'm just
00:57:49pretty much
00:57:50like
00:57:50I have absolutely
00:57:52zip
00:57:52chance
00:57:53the only way
00:57:53I'll win this election
00:57:55is if Gebhardt and Kathy Enns
00:57:57kicks the bucket
00:57:57like I'm the only one
00:57:59on the ballot
00:57:59somehow
00:58:00you know
00:58:01but even then
00:58:02I mean last time
00:58:03they voted a dead guy
00:58:04I've got to go get my flyers
00:58:12out of the car too

00:58:2250 bucks
00:58:23yeah
00:58:24hey Gary what's up
00:58:25this is Dan
00:58:26I need to give you
00:58:27I need you to give me a call

00:58:47that's going to be fun
00:58:48okay
00:58:49all right
00:58:50and you don't have to inform me
00:58:52or anything
00:58:52just put it
00:58:54and I know you've been here
00:58:55if I had a thousand guys like you
00:58:57I could win a campaign
00:58:59what's going on man
00:59:00not much
00:59:01what are you up to man
00:59:02our rainbow festivals
00:59:03yeah
00:59:03libertarians from all over the country
00:59:06come there
00:59:07they're cool as to me

00:59:17yeah
00:59:17okay
00:59:18try to get in touch

00:59:20of your brain over here
00:59:21your right mind
00:59:22it lets you be a people-like person
00:59:25you know
00:59:25yeah that's pretty good
00:59:26I think I'm going to start
00:59:27trying to do stuff like
00:59:28brush my teeth left-handed
00:59:30you'll see after a while
00:59:32you'll start looking at things
00:59:33why are you supporting
00:59:34Carnahan
00:59:35when Digger
00:59:36is running for my own parts
00:59:37and I do
00:59:38Jigger's the one that scared me
00:59:41I was with Jigger
00:59:42at my house
00:59:43and Digger let me off
00:59:45and I go
00:59:45he goes
00:59:46he goes
00:59:46you know
00:59:47Carnahan's running
00:59:48he goes
00:59:48he goes
00:59:50I don't think she's going to make it
00:59:51she's got a weak campaign
00:59:52and I go
00:59:53really
00:59:53I go
00:59:53darn it
00:59:54I got scared
00:59:55and I left him
00:59:56and about four or five days later
00:59:57I came out with my sign
00:59:59so you would rather work for Digger
01:00:00than her
01:00:01but you're winning for her
01:00:02oh no
01:00:03Digger doesn't stand a chance
01:00:04he knows it
01:00:05everybody knows it
01:00:06this is my mother
01:00:08my Olga

01:00:30she's a democrat
01:00:31why do you love him though
01:00:32I'm a strong democrat
01:00:35because she's a democrat
01:00:35but why are you a democrat?
01:00:37because my mother was
01:00:38there you go
01:00:41and the only republican
01:00:43I did vote for was
01:00:44Eisenhower
01:00:46and you know why
01:00:47he came to Massachusetts
01:00:49I was working at the bank that day
01:00:51and he waved to me
01:00:53so I waved back
01:00:54and I voted
01:00:55Dan waved to him

01:01:03I figured why not
01:01:06why not
01:01:08fuck out of these
01:01:09that's a good idea
01:01:10put those with it
01:01:11alright I will
01:01:12that's good thinking
01:01:14here you go
01:01:18it's a haunted house
01:01:20$2 off
01:01:22and also I'm running for congress
01:01:25are you really?
01:01:26yeah
01:01:26that was random
01:01:28it was like here's a haunted house
01:01:29and I'm running for congress
01:01:30what a novel idea
01:01:33see people aren't receptive
01:01:34to taking a political flyer
01:01:36but when you combine it
01:01:37with a free ticket
01:01:38to a haunted house
01:01:39they take it all day long
01:01:40what about me
01:01:42what about me
01:01:42what about me
01:01:46America
01:01:48he's running for office
01:01:51oh I can see the
01:01:53great opening
01:01:55of the WGNU
01:01:57it doesn't do you justice
01:01:59no
01:01:59you look younger
01:02:01you look younger than person
01:02:02oh yeah
01:02:02hey cool
01:02:03the yard sign
01:02:04look at these yard signs
01:02:08Joe
01:02:08wow those are great man
01:02:10those are both three there
01:02:15when I hit play
01:02:16it should jump right to
01:02:17it should jump right to
01:02:21the beginning of the film
01:02:23yeah
01:02:25good job Norman
01:02:29and I'm not going to
01:02:34ride along much longer
01:02:35but I am running for congress
01:02:36if you want to ask me any question
01:02:37I'll be back to drinking coffee
01:02:39other than that
01:02:42enjoy the show
01:02:42I'll let it speak for itself
01:02:43thank you
01:02:44I enjoyed it a lot
01:03:00excellent production values
01:03:02and very entertaining
01:03:03I loved it
01:03:04I loved it
01:03:06this was the best film
01:03:08I've seen in 25 years
01:03:11Patton was the last one
01:03:12Chuck good seeing you
01:03:13I'm glad
01:03:13you did a great job
01:03:17I can't give you enough praise
01:03:19thank you
01:03:20thank you
01:03:20well I think a lot of people
01:03:28like the movie
01:03:29they like the movie
01:03:31but it's just
01:03:32it didn't go well
01:03:33as far as
01:03:34because it really put me
01:03:35in the hole
01:03:35I didn't really raise any money
01:03:37to put towards my campaign
01:03:39so total to pull
01:03:40the whole thing off
01:03:41was about
01:03:42twenty four hundred dollars
01:03:44I think
01:03:46with pre-sold tickets
01:03:48tickets at the door
01:03:50and everything
01:03:50I may have sold around
01:03:53eighteen hundred dollars
01:03:54for the tickets
01:03:55so I actually figured
01:03:56I lost about six hundred bucks
01:03:58I had like one volunteer
01:04:00for the volunteer sign
01:04:01I had like
01:04:02eight people sign up
01:04:03for yard signs
01:04:04or what's that
01:04:05six or seven
01:04:06and I had like
01:04:07forty people sign up
01:04:08for DVD and VHS sales
01:04:09I called all the local media
01:04:11but none of them
01:04:11even returned my calls
01:04:13or anything like that
01:04:14so
01:04:14you know
01:04:16they're more interested
01:04:17in covering murders
01:04:18drug arrests
01:04:20crap like that
01:04:21so how are your
01:04:22speaking opportunities
01:04:24coming along
01:04:26well I
01:04:28registered to speak
01:04:30at a community college
01:04:31they returned my check
01:04:32well I'm just gonna put up
01:04:38as many yard signs
01:04:38as I can
01:04:39and I think
01:04:39what it is
01:04:40is when people
01:04:40go into the polls
01:04:41it's like
01:04:42they just look at a name
01:04:44they recognize
01:04:44have you heard of
01:04:46Mr. Dan Byington
01:04:47no
01:04:48it's the Gephardt race
01:04:50probably Republican
01:04:53have you heard of
01:04:55Mr. Dan Byington
01:04:56no
01:04:57hi
01:05:06what are you trying to do
01:05:08I'm trying to run
01:05:10for congress
01:05:10you're selling that house
01:05:13what
01:05:13you're selling that house
01:05:15I'm trying to
01:05:16I'm running for congress
01:05:17I will be pumped
01:05:21into 318,000 homes
01:05:23of which probably
01:05:25ten people will watch this
01:05:26because it's on local access
01:05:29this is my entree
01:05:30into the media exposure
01:05:32since third parties
01:05:33get literally
01:05:34no coverage
01:05:35by the press
01:05:36how's it sound
01:05:37pretty good
01:05:38I mean is it a good
01:05:3930 second bite
01:05:40sound bite
01:05:41just smile
01:05:43and be more relaxed
01:05:44that's why
01:05:45I'm just going through
01:05:46just don't be too harsh
01:05:47okay
01:05:47my name
01:05:49my name is Daniel Byington
01:05:51my name is Daniel Byington
01:05:53my name is Daniel Byington
01:05:55and I am running
01:05:56for the third district
01:05:57and I am running
01:05:58for the U.S. House of Representatives
01:06:00and I am running
01:06:01for the office of U.S.
01:06:03of House of Representatives
01:06:03my name is Daniel Byington
01:06:04and I'm a
01:06:05and
01:06:05if you believe
01:06:08the individual
01:06:09should have the right
01:06:10and responsibility
01:06:10to run their own life
01:06:12then vote for me
01:06:13on November 5th
01:06:14Daniel Byington
01:06:16this year I don't think
01:06:23it's going to happen
01:06:23but I do think
01:06:25Dan Byington
01:06:26can and will happen
01:06:28it may not be
01:06:30Dan Byington by the way
01:06:31it may be another person
01:06:32doing the same thing
01:06:33he's doing now
01:06:33but we have to have
01:06:35people like Dan
01:06:36start this process
01:06:38that sign might get
01:06:45like six votes
01:06:46just by being there
01:06:47for a week or two
01:06:48we're protesting
01:06:55illegal immigration
01:06:56how does it affect you
01:06:59well it keeps wages lower
01:07:02takes people's jobs
01:07:05it increases crime
01:07:07the security of the nation
01:07:09so here I am
01:07:10an immigrant
01:07:11filming a group
01:07:12opposing immigration
01:07:13I know Dan was running
01:07:15out of places to speak
01:07:16but this
01:07:17we don't need anymore
01:07:18we've got 300 million people here
01:07:20yeah you want me to just
01:07:21go ahead and start
01:07:22I think that our nation
01:07:23is controlled by a single party
01:07:25which has disguised itself
01:07:27under two parties
01:07:28under the same
01:07:30under two umbrellas
01:07:32named the Democrat
01:07:32and Republican Party
01:07:34for example
01:07:35I believe that
01:07:36in regards to our foreign policy
01:07:37we should remove
01:07:38all of our troops
01:07:39from overseas
01:07:40stop meddling in people's business
01:07:42put our troops on our borders
01:07:43and make it clear and simple
01:07:45you fuck
01:07:45excuse me
01:07:46you attack us
01:07:48we will annihilate you
01:07:49and kick the UN out
01:07:50this is the only way
01:07:54out of the tyranny
01:07:55of the one party system
01:07:57with Democrats as the heads
01:07:58and Republicans as the tails
01:08:00Mr. Byington has enough guts
01:08:02and courage to come out here
01:08:03with odds against him
01:08:06that are insurmountable
01:08:07and he's willing to make a point
01:08:10Mr. Gephardt
01:08:11had the audacity
01:08:13even though he represents
01:08:14a working class district
01:08:16and he should be more cognizant
01:08:18of their problems
01:08:19and it's a lot of his voters
01:08:21that are suffering
01:08:22to offer a blanket amnesty
01:08:24for all illegals of the United States
01:08:26six millions of them
01:08:27he's in favor of high taxes
01:08:31bringing in more immigrants
01:08:33getting diluting the white population
01:08:36of this
01:08:36of the third district
01:08:39Pat Buchanan put it better
01:08:41than anyone else
01:08:42if the Democrats submitted a bill
01:08:44to burn down the Capitol building
01:08:46the Republicans would offer
01:08:47an alternative amendment
01:08:48to phase it in over three years
01:08:50I'm going to walk into
01:08:51Dick Gephardt's office
01:08:52or see if
01:08:53just see if I can get some information
01:08:54I just want to see if
01:08:56they're actually having a debate
01:08:57that maybe I didn't know about
01:08:59yeah 201
01:09:03in a way I feel kind of
01:09:10off the hook though
01:09:11because being a congressman
01:09:13it almost feels like
01:09:15I'm going up against a Goliath
01:09:16when I was walking up the steps
01:09:18I'm thinking it shouldn't be that way
01:09:20have you heard of Mr. Dan Byington?
01:09:22Dan Byington?
01:09:24Yeah
01:09:24Byington
01:09:25I think he was a
01:09:28I think he was a
01:09:31fighter pilot
01:09:32during World War II
01:09:34wasn't he?
01:09:34What do you think of this sign?
01:09:37Him?
01:09:37He's alright
01:09:38He's alright
01:09:38You gotta get out
01:09:39and get some work in
01:09:40Who?
01:09:40Byington?
01:09:41Byington
01:09:41Have you heard of Byington yet?
01:09:43I heard of Byington a few times
01:09:45I see the sign up on Chippewa
01:09:46out there
01:09:47What do you think of Byington?
01:09:48It's alright
01:09:49It's Byington, Dick Yevhart
01:09:51and Kathy Enns in a race
01:09:52Kathy who?
01:09:57Enns?
01:09:58Yeah
01:09:58Enns, right, right, right
01:09:59You gotta learn how to do this
01:10:01Get a campaign going
01:10:03Get out on the corner
01:10:04Get the sign
01:10:05You see that little beep beep there?
01:10:09Yeah
01:10:09That's what that's about
01:10:10He came by and read beep beep
01:10:11He does that
01:10:12The other Democrats come by
01:10:13They see it, they beep
01:10:14Republicans see it
01:10:16They're quiet
01:10:17Go by
01:10:17So I don't have
01:10:18I need to get a beep beep
01:10:19On my sign
01:10:20You gotta cheat
01:10:20Every little way you can
01:10:22Like
01:10:22For sure
01:10:23Look these people are honking
01:10:25Now how do you know
01:10:27If these people are honking
01:10:28At my signs
01:10:28Or your signs
01:10:29All you want to do
01:10:30Is get recognized
01:10:31Don't you?
01:10:32Well I think
01:10:32That's what it's about
01:10:33You know what they're honking at?
01:10:34They're honking because
01:10:35They had almost a war
01:10:37For a year now
01:10:37Yeah
01:10:38They had all that shit
01:10:39They just want to have some fun
01:10:40Anyway man
01:10:41It was good seeing you again
01:10:42Hey thanks man
01:10:43I think that guy beeped at me
01:10:45Because he was looking right at my sign
01:10:46When he beeped
01:10:47Maybe dude
01:10:47I don't know
01:10:48That's your own member
01:10:53He will love you in Germany
01:10:54I'm actually running for Congress
01:10:56My name is Dan Byneton
01:10:57And on what ticket?
01:10:59The Libertarian ticket
01:11:00Sorry
01:11:01What?
01:11:01Good luck
01:11:02You're not a Libertarian
01:11:03You heard that
01:11:03So you're going to vote for me
01:11:04For Congress in 3rd District?
01:11:06Yeah me and Janet
01:11:07Alright Mike
01:11:08Well I appreciate that
01:11:09Yeah I'd like to see you
01:11:10You know
01:11:11You know
01:11:11Gabbard's going to beat
01:11:12Enns by 10%
01:11:13Or whatever
01:11:14He was at the opening
01:11:15Of the swimming pool
01:11:16You know
01:11:17Shaking hands
01:11:18Getting photographed
01:11:19100 people
01:11:20Carefully let in
01:11:21You know
01:11:21It's silly
01:11:22You know
01:11:22They got this
01:11:25Five story tall
01:11:27Water slide
01:11:28You know
01:11:28You can see it
01:11:29From Kansas City
01:11:30They had
01:11:32To get this
01:11:33Swimming pool
01:11:34Aquatic center
01:11:35They had a bond issue
01:11:36And they fell
01:11:37Short
01:11:38So then
01:11:39They passed
01:11:39A tax increase
01:11:40Sales tax increase
01:11:42And
01:11:43Back
01:11:45At least at the time
01:11:46Of the sales tax increase
01:11:47They knew
01:11:47They were going broke
01:11:48And they could have
01:11:49Scaled back
01:11:50On the swimming pool
01:11:51But no
01:11:51You know
01:11:51Government wants to be
01:11:52Everything to everybody
01:11:53It is two days
01:11:55Before the election
01:11:56And never saw
01:11:57Dick Gapheart again
01:11:58Meanwhile
01:11:59Dan's only hope
01:12:01Is to get more than
01:12:020.7%
01:12:03That the last
01:12:04Libertarian candidate got
01:12:05I'm getting ready to go
01:12:09I'm going to go into
01:12:11Gapheart's campaign
01:12:12Headquarters here
01:12:13And I want to just
01:12:14Ask volunteers
01:12:15Who volunteer for
01:12:16The Democratic Party
01:12:17Why do they volunteer
01:12:19For the Democratic Party
01:12:20Why are they
01:12:21Volunteers
01:12:22So I'm going to go in here
01:12:23And see what
01:12:23How's it going
01:12:29How's it going
01:12:29Hello
01:12:30Can we help you with
01:12:32Right now I'm standing
01:12:33Outside of
01:12:34I guess it's
01:12:34Richard Gapheart
01:12:36My congressman
01:12:37Is campaign headquarters
01:12:39Since I've had such
01:12:41A difficult time
01:12:42Finding volunteers
01:12:43For my campaign
01:12:44I was kind of
01:12:45Curious to know
01:12:45Why do people
01:12:47Volunteer for a particular

01:12:49And how come they do
01:12:50How come they don't
01:12:51Whatever
01:12:52And that was something
01:12:54We wanted to ask
01:12:55And nobody wanted
01:12:56To go on camera
01:12:56And they kind of
01:12:57Kicked us out of the office
01:12:58Have you heard of
01:12:59Mr. Dan Byington
01:13:00Sure
01:13:02I don't believe
01:13:04In his agenda
01:13:04And I won't support him
01:13:08Dang it
01:13:10I got to fix
01:13:11I got to perfect
01:13:13That a little bit
01:13:13I hit it too hard
01:13:15And the staples
01:13:16Keep popping

01:13:33That's fine
01:13:33But when you approach
01:13:34Somebody
01:13:35If you hand it to them
01:13:35And they read it
01:13:36They can just read it
01:13:37And then after they
01:13:38Read the information
01:13:38Just take it back
01:13:39And then you can just
01:13:40Do that
01:13:40And that way
01:13:40You can get more
01:13:41You can get more people
01:13:42Than just ten
01:13:42Probably get a hundred
01:13:43At the point
01:13:44That's really the name
01:13:50Of the game
01:13:51Just getting your signs
01:13:52Out there
01:13:52Getting it where people
01:13:54See your name
01:14:14And then you pickles
01:14:24What do you say
01:14:24How do you use
01:14:25?
01:14:25I'm sure
01:14:25I'm sure
01:14:26You can just
01:14:27Oh

01:15:13So there you have it. Joe Grasso is in Vegas. There were no big speeches, no $150,000, no billboards. This sounded very familiar.
01:15:43This is the Afton Christian Church on Traston Ferry Road and I don't see any signs. Sign broke.
01:15:57Goal Hillsboro. Hillsboro, that's like a big thing. Burns Mill, that's all off like 55 Barnhart.
01:16:08Yeah, here's another polling place.
01:16:19Two percent is good. Five percent would be better.
01:16:22It is early morning of the first Tuesday in November.
01:16:38This is an American city. For this is Election Day.
01:16:44Oh man, thank God it is Election Day.
01:17:00Have you heard of Dan Byington?
01:17:02No, I haven't.
01:17:04He's on WGNU.
01:17:05I've heard of the radio station.
01:17:07Have you heard of Dan Byington?
01:17:08Yes, I have seen placards along the roadside. That's about as far as my knowledge of them goes.
01:17:15I consider myself a libertarian.
01:17:20There's no reason to have a guy in Washington making decisions that I can make.
01:17:25And hit a button on my internet and there it is.
01:17:29People would raise their children to believe that they're the government, not the guy you elect.
01:17:35Who's going to go up there and he's going to take all the money from the political action committees and vote that way?
01:17:41It's almost over.
01:17:42Who needs that?
01:17:44That's baloney.
01:17:44I'm just going to do a lot of waving today. I think I can try to pass out flyers.
01:17:50There's Joe Grasso down there. He's a...
01:17:52Shit, it's fine.
01:17:53I can't pay my school walk down that way.
01:17:55He caught me cross-dressing.
01:18:02I didn't know you were coming today here, Congressman Byington.
01:18:07They forced me into wearing the sandwich board, see?
01:18:09They've got my children kidnapped, see?
01:18:11I voted for you, though.
01:18:14I don't know, uh, yeah.
01:18:15So how can you be supporting Gephardt and Byington at the same time?
01:18:19Well, I'm not.
01:18:20You're not?
01:18:21No.
01:18:22Okay, maybe my English is wrong.
01:18:24They gave him a free sandwich to wear that.
01:18:26Yeah, yeah.
01:18:27And there was something going on with, you know, my, my, my political hopeful.
01:18:36You know, I'd be out there, and I will be out there today, but this is, I'm helping a neighbor.
01:18:40He had a problem filling this slot.
01:18:42Um, have you heard of Mr. Dan Byington?
01:18:48Is he related to Spring Byington?
01:18:50No.
01:18:51The actress?
01:18:51No, I don't know him.
01:18:52Peace, liberty, and justice.
01:19:05Yes.
01:19:07Peace, liberty.
01:19:09Third district, I'm actually running against Capitol Hill.
01:19:19I'm taking it.
01:19:20I'm a libertarian.
01:19:23So you're a libertarian.
01:19:26Well, I like it.
01:19:27It's me.
01:19:28I'm running for him.
01:19:29If you're putting out that one extra sign that will help, I'm going to do it.
01:19:36I'm a little, I'm trying to keep my own camp.
01:19:41Oh, okay.
01:19:42I just got tired of, uh, oh, thank you.
01:19:47You want to go to Get Parks, Carnahan's, or Clever-Caston's, or Sam Rawls?
01:19:53I got my own party to go to.
01:19:54Oh, do you really?
01:19:55Not quite.
01:19:56It'll be a victory party down at the police line.
01:19:58Oh, okay.
01:20:05That's it.
01:20:05The last flyer.
01:20:06I'm done.
01:20:11If I am today, I am now.
01:20:13I'm 100% libertarian right now.
01:20:16I don't know.
01:20:17If I got 1%, that's 0.30% better than the last candidate to run in that district.
01:20:24Probably not until 9, but maybe.
01:20:27I know that probably both of our statewide candidates, myself and Arnold Trimbley, are going to get above the 2%, so we're going to be cool for ballot access.
01:20:35Great.
01:20:35We really hope to retain ballot status after this election.
01:20:44And one way to do that is to get 2% in a statewide election.
01:20:48Have you seen your numbers?
01:20:49They won't show to third-party candidates.
01:20:52We know that Carnahan and talent between them right now are getting about 99%, so there's a chance that we could still get the 2%.
01:21:01I'm kind of wary of the posture that libertarians and the Greens are in of struggling even for a place on the ballot.
01:21:14How do you feel, now that it's almost over, how do you feel about how you did?
01:21:19I feel really good.
01:21:21We talked about reparations.
01:21:23We talked about so many issues, like this genetic modification of food.
01:21:29So I feel really good about everything we've done, and I think no matter what the results are in the polls, we have a victory tonight.
01:21:39Well, good work, man.
01:21:41How does this make work for you?
01:21:42I am good, 2%!
01:21:44Woo!
01:21:45Woo!
01:21:45Woo!
01:21:46Woo!
01:21:46Woo!
01:21:46Woo!
01:21:47Woo!
01:21:4758% for the incumbent Democrat.
01:21:49His challenger, Republican Catherine Enns, is pulling in 40% of the vote right now.
01:21:54It looks like 42% reporting in that race.
01:21:57They're voting for a party.
01:21:59If I was Republican, I would be 46%.
01:22:01Instead, I'm a libertarian.
01:22:03They think I'm a wacko.
01:22:051%.
01:22:05We try to save Social Security.
01:22:08We try to get better jobs and better wages.
01:22:12We try to improve this economy.
01:22:15We try to get fair trade.
01:22:16Instead of unfair trade laws, and to try to make this country greater and better than it's ever been.
01:22:24Thank you, and God bless all of you.
01:22:29I think what you've seen in this campaign is the tremendous influence of special interest money.
01:22:36We had campaigns where their candidate was backed up by the pharmaceutical companies, by all kinds of special interest.
01:22:45They, in some campaigns, were spending $6 million on a House race, and our candidate was hardly able to come up with $2 million.
01:22:54So, for what will we have been hoping for?
01:22:56Eh, I have some questions, given me, when I Wan, who's got it?
01:22:59I think I'm a salesman henry!
01:23:02I think, Ed, Ed, Ed.
01:23:02Gracias por ver el video.
