Transcript
00:00You recently released your first single, right?
00:02Yes, thank you. I did. It's called Kind of Fun.
00:06It's available to stream wherever you stream music or buy if you're old school.
00:11I love to buy. It's really special.
00:14It's something I've wanted to do really since I was little.
00:17When the actor strike happened, I obviously was like so many of my creative peers
00:22and just creatives like having this void of creativeness and missing it
00:28and wrote this song and my boyfriend produced it who is an incredible musician
00:32and we thought, you know, life's too short not to put it out, so it's out now.
00:37What has the fan response been like for you?
00:39It's been really special.
00:40I think it's one of those things where it's so scary to step out of your comfort zone
00:44in any aspect of life and then especially because acting is obviously my first and my foremost
00:49but this was something that felt very vulnerable and very much for me
00:54and so the fact that they embraced that and saw what it was
00:57and didn't say that my voice sounded bad meant the world to me.
01:02Will you release more music, do you think?
01:04I think that's the plan.
01:06Yeah, we've been writing.
01:08Thankfully, I get to do it in the hands of such safety.
01:11My boyfriend is amazing and we just moved houses
01:14and the music studio is now in the house
01:16and so we go in and we play around
01:18but yeah, we have some things up our sleeve
01:21and I'm excited to get to hopefully share that soon.
01:24I feel like you're always so busy with acting projects too.
01:27You always have something in the works
01:28because we're getting more Pretty Little Liars original sin, right?
01:31Yeah, we are.
01:32It's called Pretty Little Liars Summer School this season
01:35which is really fun.
01:37Oh my goodness, our cast and crew worked so hard over the season.
01:40We somehow were able to film through the writer's strike
01:44which was amazing because our writers worked so hard to finish our episodes
01:47and then the actor's strike happened when we had 10 days left
01:50and so we went back in December to finish up summer school
01:53and in my personal humble opinion,
01:56I think this season is bigger and better than ever
02:00and I'm so ready for everyone to see it.
02:02What's it been like stepping into the Pretty Little Liars franchise?
02:06Yeah, like surreal.
02:06You just asked me that and I continue to get goosebumps.
02:09I remember PLL was like one of the first shows
02:12that I realized what it was like to be a fan
02:15when something new comes on every week
02:17and I admired those girls
02:19and now I get to call some of them my friends
02:20and my peers and my lights in my life
02:24but it's an honor I don't take lightly
02:26and it's something that my younger self dreamed of genuinely
02:29and so it's very full circle and kismet and lovely.
02:33We're here tonight celebrating Oscar nominees.
02:35Which movie would you love to see win Best Picture on Sunday?
02:40Can I be honest with you?
02:42This question's tough for me
02:43only because I've had a small tasting
02:46of what it's like to be nominated for something
02:48in a room that's of large scale
02:50and there is so much love and talent
02:53that goes behind making a film
02:55in front of and behind the screens
02:56that I genuinely don't like losers in any capacity.
03:00I think that they're all winners
03:01so I like to see them all go on stage
03:03but there's something special about what Barbie did.
03:07I think more than anything
03:08I think at a time where we're in the world of streaming
03:11and how fast paced things can go
03:13Barbie reminded us that filmmaking is special in theaters
03:16and there is a place for films in theaters
03:18and as someone who started off my career
03:21usually doing films that ended up in theaters
03:24I'm all for things that keep that going
03:26and for women obviously
03:28so I would love to see it.
03:30So in the great Barbenheimer debate
03:32do you choose Barbie over Oppenheimer?
03:35I can't choose!
03:37I mean, yeah, here's why
03:39my hairstylist, the second season of PLL
03:41is the biggest Barbie fan
03:43he collects Barbies
03:44all we did was talk about Barbie
03:46before it came out
03:47and then when it came out
03:48and so I feel like if he's watching this
03:50I have to say Barbie
03:51so Barbie
03:53You're somebody who we've seen grow up on screen
03:57I feel like you've been in front of the camera your whole life
03:59we've seen you do so many different types of roles
04:01what's something you haven't done yet
04:03that you'd love to do in the future?
04:04I love that question
04:06because that is like the question of my year right now
04:08I was just having a conversation
04:09where I was like
04:10I'm in this stage of life
04:12where I genuinely want to push myself
04:14and go out of my comfort zone
04:16and kind of cause some havoc a little bit
04:19and commotion
04:19I haven't been able to do
04:22something that requires
04:23like an actual action suit of sort
04:27and I don't know why
04:28but that's on my bucket list
04:29I would love to dive into that
04:30and then I love an indie
04:33I really think that movies are made so beautifully
04:36when it's condensed
04:36and when everyone's there to create for art
04:39and not necessarily for a box office or a number
04:41and they hold a lot of heart
04:44and I don't know, richness
04:46so looking for something that gets to strip back
04:49all the commotion
04:50and just human to human share a story
