00:36CMT pulled the song's music video from its rotation last Tuesday,
00:40when the clip only had roughly 350,000 views on YouTube.
00:44Now it's been viewed over 16.6 million times.
00:48The song also debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and No. 1 on the Hot Country Songs chart.
00:54Many public figures like Sheryl Crow criticized the track in video,
00:58while Donald Trump, Ron DeSantis, and others voiced their support for Aldean.
01:03Aldean, one of country music's top stars, defended the song in a lengthy statement,
01:07calling claims made against the track not only meritless, but dangerous.
01:11During his concert over the weekend, Aldean also addressed cancel culture when speaking to his audience.
