Transcript
00:00Scooter Braun talks publicly for the first time about the recent backlash in his latest
00:04drama with Taylor Swift.
00:07Scooter Braun took to Instagram to break his silence on the latest chapter in the ongoing
00:11feud with Taylor Swift.
00:13The pop superstar recently claimed that Braun, along with her former manager Scott Porchetta,
00:18after acquiring her music catalog earlier this year, wouldn't allow her to perform
00:22old songs at the 2019 American Music Awards or use them in a forthcoming Netflix documentary.
00:28Swift took to social media to put Braun and Porchetta on blast, leading to tens of thousands
00:34of fans rallying in support.
00:36In his first public remarks since Swift's post, Braun wrote,
00:40Since your public statement last week, there have been numerous death threats directed at
00:44my family.
00:45The music manager continued writing in part, However, I came home tonight to find my wife
00:50had received a phone call threatening the safety of our children.
00:54I am certain there is no situation ever worth jeopardizing anyone's safety.
00:58Braun went on to explain the gravity of Swift's post, I assume this was not your intention,
01:03but it is important you understand that your words carry a tremendous amount of weight and
01:08that your message can be interpreted by some in different ways.
01:11He also clarified his take on the effect of his involvement in the acquisition months
01:15prior.
01:16To be frank, I was shocked and disheartened to hear that my presence in the big machine
01:20deal caused you so much pain as the handful of times we have actually met, I have always
01:25remembered them to be pleasant and respectful.
01:28Knowing what I know now, all I have wanted to do is rectify the situation.
01:33Despite the back and forth of claims made on Instagram and statements to the press from
01:37Big Machine and Dick Clark Productions, a resolution has come allowing Swift to perform pre-lover
01:42material during the AMAs.
01:45Back in June, Swift wrote on social media that she was, quote, sad and grossed out after
01:49Braun purchased the rights to her first six studio albums.
01:53And earlier this month, Swift posted again about how the acquisition might impact her
01:57performance at the AMAs, leading to where we are presently with Braun's claims of threats
02:02he and his family received.
02:03We are living in a time of pointless violence and as a husband and father, I am concerned,
02:08Braun wrote.
02:10This is a world filled with toxic division where people express their opinions over social
02:14media instead of having conversations in person.
02:18I want no part in that.
