05:22...and the last two weeks of the year...
05:24...is a group of players who have scored score in the year.
05:28And what are the scores of the year in the year?
05:31Well, that's right, that's right...
05:34...and that's right now, that's right.
05:37And we'll be back to the floor of the year...
05:41...and the first time they have scored score in the year.
05:45And thank you for joining us today last year, 2020...
05:49...to win the year in the year.
05:50Googie McNamara
05:56The Roching is in Galway's West End which is the oldest part of the city and the best obviously
06:02So it's an old building. Yeah, it's a very old building
06:05John and Mark who owned the Roching before us had turned it from the canal bar into a music venue
06:10I think about 1990
06:13And it was folk mostly was it?
06:15It was primarily I guess sort of a folk club but they had like legendary acts come through here
06:19Warren's Yvonne played here Townsman's Ant and then when we took it over the plan was always to sort of expand it and make it
06:26More viable to bring in not just bigger international acts as well
06:30But bigger Irish acts as well and give them a place to play in Galway
06:33There's a great sense of history in the place Googie. Well, yeah, we made a lot of changes, but we kept the original archway
06:39Oh, beautiful it is. Yeah
06:44And tell me some of the acts that have come through since you started running the place
06:48It's always hard to remember, but yeah, we always had stuff like Fontaine's Lancome
06:52Tudor Cinema Club
06:54Villagers and these acts keep coming back again and again
06:57Yeah
06:58Why do they keep returning to the Roching Dove?
07:00Because it's great
07:02Good answer
07:04How do you act?
07:05I mean, I always say there's this magic in the bones of the Roching Dove
07:08There's something very special about that room
07:10I don't know if it's this sort of thing that sort of seeped into the walls over all the gigs that have been here
07:15And I understand you're taking big risks aren't you?
07:17Yes, yeah
07:18I mean, it's it's gambling essentially
07:20Yeah
07:21I mean, there's certain sure bets, you know, certain things you know are going to go well
07:24Yeah
07:25And it's just a matter of balancing all that out with stuff that you think might go well in a few years
07:30Yeah
07:31You know, like we have a big focus on developing new talent
07:34I mean, there's no big band that hasn't started out as a little band
07:38And if you just keep focusing on the large stadium acts
07:41And people keep just attending those type of shows
07:43It'll be a cultural wasteland in 10 or 15 years
07:46Because these spaces won't be here where artists can develop their skills and hone their, you know, hone their performance abilities
07:52That's how bands start out, you know
07:57There's nothing that compares to seeing live music
08:00I mean, if you feel it's right in your chest, you know, you're just there
08:04It's a shared experience, it's, you know, it can be incredibly sensitive and ephemeral
08:09It can be like, sure raw and sweat dripping from the roof
08:12Yeah
08:13And this place has seen all that
08:15All of those things, yeah
08:16And more
08:39That was, yeah
08:40Yeah
08:41Yeah
08:42Yeah
