Auburn's loss to Alabama was a microcosm of the last two seasons: Close but no Cigar
Transcript
00:00Yeah, obviously, just disappointing, disappointing.
00:06I feel like our guys prepared really well for this game.
00:11We had chances to win the game.
00:13And you can't turn the ball over in games like this and expect to win.
00:17And we didn't create turnovers on defense.
00:18So there were some critical penalties in the game that hurt us.
00:22And obviously, the turnovers hurt us.
00:24I mean, you look at it and you say, we out gained them 411 to 280 and held them 122 yards passing.
00:32If you said me going to the game, that's what was going to happen.
00:34I'd tell you we won the game.
00:35But again, turnovers are the most telling stat that pertain to wins and losses.
00:41Obviously, we started in a hole in this game.
00:42I don't think we started very well.
00:44We had a drive on defense early in the game.
00:46We were really discombobulated.
00:50When they scored a touchdown, they made it 17-0.
00:52And other than that, I thought we played really well defensively.
00:55I thought offense, we started slow.
00:58But we picked it up, like I said, and really did a good job moving the ball
01:02the rest of the game and out gained them.
01:03But again, it was critical turnovers that I think are the story of the game.
01:11There's a room full of guys in there really hurting.
01:13Those guys put on the line for each other in a moment where it's not an easy thing to do.
01:19And I think it says a lot about the character of the men in that room.
