'Dirty Dancing' Celebrates 30th Anniversary | THR News - video Dailymotion

It was 30 years ago, on Aug. 21, that Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze first twirled into theaters in 'Dirty Dancing,' a spicy summer romance.

00:09It's been 30 years since Baby and Johnny fell in love during their summer at Kellerman's.

00:14Dirty Dancing hit theaters way back on August 21, 1987. And in honor of the beloved film's

00:20anniversary, we're taking a look at what some of the movie's most notable stars have been up to

00:24since they had the time of their lives. Sadly, two of the film's actors are no longer alive,

00:29including leading man Patrick Swayze. The star was a hot commodity following his role as Johnny Castle.

00:34He went on to star in movies like Roadhouse, Ghost and Point Break in the late 80s and early 90s,

00:40along with many other films over the years. In January 2008, Swayze was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer

00:46and died from the disease in September 2009 at the age of 57.

00:50Jennifer Grey co-starred in the film as Baby Houseman. After Dirty Dancing, she continued acting

00:55with roles in numerous movies and TV shows. On the small screen, she appeared on Friends

00:59and starred in ABC's It's Like You Know. She even hit the dance floor again on Dancing with the Stars

01:05and most recently returned to the 80s via Amazon's comedy series Red Oaks. On the film's side,

01:11she had roles in movies like Bounce and In Your Eyes.

01:13Jerry Orbach played Baby's father, Jake Houseman, in the 1987 flick. He's best known for his 12-year-long run

01:20on Law & Order. The actor was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 1994, which he fought for 10 years

01:26until his death at age 69 in 2004. Kelly Bishop took on the part of Baby's mother, Marjorie Houseman.

01:32Bishop had many television roles post-Dirty Dancing, but perhaps none more beloved than her run

01:37as Emily Gilmore on Gilmore Girls. On the film's side, some of her post-dancing credits include

01:42Six Degrees of Separation, Private Parts, Wonder Boys and Friends with Kids.

01:48She was also recently seen in the Gilmore Girls' A Year in the Life revival on Netflix.

01:52As for the actress who played Baby's older sister, Lisa, Jane Brucker appeared in the movies

01:57Stealing Home, Bloodhounds of Broadway and Dish Dogs after Dirty Dancing. But in recent years,

02:02she's focused on her family with her husband. And Dirty Dancing came near the end of Cynthia Rhodes' acting career.

02:08Her role as Penny Johnson is only followed by her role of Vicki Phillips in Curse of the Crystal Eye.
